trigger Posted June 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) My wife and I are on the AOS the last week of October. I know it’s an older ship and not on RCI priority list. We’re looking for recent passenger’s reviews and cruise compass/entertainment schedules. We picked this cruise because of the ports ( Tortola, taking a ferry to Jost Van Dyke and St. Croix), not the usual Eastern Caribbean route. Xtentions Posted June 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2023 We were on her in December of 21 and she was in good shape. We did a 5 day out of Galveston on her at less than half capacity for stupid cheap that we booked 8 days before the sailing. That was our first time on Adventure and I would not hesitate to sail on her again.
HicksRA Posted June 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2023 We were on it for the 16 day repositioning in October and again in January. Great ship in great shape. I can’t think of anything bad to say about it other than the food sucked in January after they improved the MDR menus. 1
keishashadow Posted June 5, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) We sailed her in May, first out of FLL after Galveston. Our first sailing since we had since our one booked the end of March 2020 was cancelled a couple of weeks out We missed the amenities of a bigger ship. However, this trip was all about the itinerary for us, no complaints other than missing st Thomas due to medical emergency. If itinerary was appealing & price was right, would gladly book again I posted a few pics of dinner in the MDR in big thread here, discussing menu changes. Not quite a foodie, do enjoy fine dining. So much moaning & groaning here as to changes was a more than a bit wary. set my expectations accordingly and was more than satisfied. Smaller, older ship = basic entertainment IMO. There was always something going on. Ice show was very good, caught it twice. Comedians so-so, got a few laughs. Lounge band (across from guest services) was very good. Music trivia there fun, just very crowded. There and at all venues. Ship sailed full. We got there early, others already in seats from previous activities casino has poor flow, too many machines jammed in there. Passengers often not recognizing the no smoking area. Others cluelessly plopping in seats at popular machines watching their companions play next to them. We took to making our daily deposit early when it was less crowded early on was able to get OV seat in solarium if depositing myself by 7 am. Surprised the last few sea days that they were seemingly staked out by daybreak? Those days, adapted & went to shaded area at main pool, turning the lounger. There were plenty of seats on upper decks available throughout the days as far as I could tell staff is top notch on this ship, engaging & very enthusiastic. Several we spoke to shared they were absolutely thrilled to be back to work, and it showed Edited June 5, 2023 by keishashadow

Just awful in the MDR and at the WJ. The rest of the trip was great - just not the food. I’ve had better food at Golden Corral. 1
Rare twangster Posted June 5, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 5, 2023 I wouldn't say she is not on a priority list. Adventure was the test ship that led the whole amplification program. She received her water slides and other updates before all the others. Izumi on the promenade for example, a suite lounge, new cabins, cabin updates, etc. She did not get a Playmakers but neither did Voyager who is officially amplified. She isn't considered "amplified" because her updates occured before the amplification program existed. She is 90% of the way there. They were going to officially amplify her but then the shutdown. Contrast Adventure to Explorer who also lost out on a planned amplification. Explorer recently had water slides added but not much more. Explorer is not nearly along the way to a complete amplification like Adventure is.
Cruise a holic Posted June 5, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2023 We were on the Adventure last may. Since we are used to the Oasis class ships, it did disappoint. Our Jr. Suite was a rust bucket- in dire need of repair- the buffet reminded me of a school cafeteria. Food in MDR seemed rushed and not high quality. The entertainment wasn't like the Oasis class. We weren't impressed and will stick to the Oasis class ships- we are booked on the Icon and hope that will meet our expectations.
Rare Kellie in Texas Posted June 5, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 5, 2023 We were on Adventure out of Galveston for a five-day this past January (2023) in two balcony cabins. Adventure and Liberty are the two largest ships we've been on so far; we actually prefer the Radiance class, mainly because we don't have little kids that need water slides and splash pads. 🙂 I thought Adventure was fine. The main thing I didn't like was the rounded metal structure of the ship that made the balcony have an oval-shaped opening instead of a more open rectangular shape. We actually boarded on New Year's Eve so they had formal night that night; way more people dressed up than we've seen on previous ships for formal night, but I'm sure that's because it was also NYE. We usually only eat in the main dining room once, maybe twice, per cruise, but we did eat in the MDR that night. Our food was fine, as I recall. cruisegirl1976 Posted June 5, 2023 #9 Share Posted June 5, 2023 I am set to sail on Adventure for the 1st time next year and I am looking forward to being on a smaller ship, we have sailed on the Oasis class ships, which were great, but hubby and I are looking forward to sailing on a smaller one for a change. sellwingri Posted June 5, 2023 #10 Share Posted June 5, 2023 Adventure is not a small ship. Vision class ships are. Adventure has an ice skating rink and a promenade that smaller classes don’t have. I find something great about all ships and I like Adventure. I’m also on her in October for Halloween.
smokeybandit Posted June 5, 2023 #11 Share Posted June 5, 2023 I wish Adventure had a Playmakers, but other than that, great ship that I wouldn't hesitate to book.

Jam0610 Posted June 5, 2023 #14 Share Posted June 5, 2023 Sailed on her in February. No problems. Enjoyed our cruise. Not as fancy as some of the new ships but still very nice. Chops was excellent.
