Vaping in Casino on Equinox

Agree. We just may see smoking allowed back in the casino in the near future. Or a smoking section in the casino like on RC ships. Like the stench doesn't drift all over the casino and out of the casino in nearby venues. We aren't gamblers so the casino isn't a draw (pun not intended) for us but just hate to see Celebrity now allowing vaping. Whether it has a order or not.

It has already been proven that they have not been updating the date when making changes as the bottle of wine per person change went in a few weeks ago with no date change...

I do recognize that which is why I qualified my statement.  I just also recall reading that exact language at some point before yesterday which is why I was questioning how new it was and whether it related to this change in policy for vaping.

For those that are on now, is there a separate section of the casino that is clearly marked as no vaping?  Or do they allow vaping in the entire casino?  The policy linked talks about signage indicating "the areas for both smoking and non-smoking guests"

Also, is this just the Equinox?  Or are people seeing it on other ships?

We were aboard the Reflection back in March.A couple sitting in front of us were openly vaping in the Theater during a show. No one said anything to them including the bar servers that were serving them. I moved since it made me uncomfortable and I saw others move as well. I reported it to the Captains Club hostess and guest services   the next day and I specifically addressed it on my post cruise survey . Of course now I understand why  I was  completely ignored.

Just found the thread. That's new. That sucks! Hopefully it's not fleetwide.

That's been the case for at least a year when we started sailing X, and it's one of the reasons we chose X

Edit:  didn't see the pic, No vaping was not allowed. However, Vape to me doesn't permiate everything and linger like cigarettes.  I do agree it's a change in the marketing strategy

If anyone has any remaining doubts that this is the continued Royalization of Celebrity this has to seal the deal.

I am curious if the start of the Royalization of Celebrity started with that new fangled, multi-functional, orange contraption on the side of the ship with the catchy name?  Who dreamed up the Magic Carpet anyway?  It makes the ships look lopsided.  Maybe they will reimagine it as a hookah cafe.

OMG to say I am beyond disappointed with Celebrity is an understatement!  I can't believe they are even testing this out.  If anyone has any remaining doubts that this is the continued Royalization of Celebrity this has to seal the deal.  This is a horrible idea.

Not at all, my doubts remain in fact I am certain that’s not the intention. We will agree to disagree.

Once word gets out, I think we will see much more of this. I know some people who deliberately avoid Celebrity due to their stringent rules against smoking. When word spreads that things are relaxing over at Celebrity, I think we’ll see a lot more of it.

Exactly. And I suspect there's going to be a lot more issue with people vaping outside the designated areas (especially in cabins and on verandas). You can see it everywhere - they think they're being so sneaky until you know what to look for...the hand up to the mouth (or the chin ducked into the shoulder where the hand does) followed by the very evident cloud AND the smell of whatever fruity choice they've made.

It's not that much safer than smoking, and I wish that those who make these changes to the rules would realize that.

Hope they never allow it elsewhere indoors like bars, theater,  dining areas or lounge areas.

Slippery Slope!

Sadly, once it's allowed in one place, they will take full advantage everywhere.

In most cases they already are - thinking they are being so sneaky with it. But once it's allowed in the casino, they will not think twice about doing it anywhere and everywhere - and the crew afraid to enforce it only in designated areas for fear of getting complaints about them.

Celebrity’s smoking policy is what led us to choosing Celebrity in the first place. I haven’t had the need to review the policy since 2010, and vaping wasn’t around then.  I do remember some discussion on this board regarding vaping, but at the time the consensus was no smoking or vaping.

I fully understand... yet, IMO, if there is a question about current policy the website is the first place I go to find out what the "official" policy is and not ask here because there will be those who can give conflicting information about the policy vs enforcement vs what they saw (or thought they saw), etc...

Yet, I understand the ease of asking here in the forum in lieu of getting/reading the current official policy...

I don’t believe I asked. I informed, after I saw AbbyCruiser45’s photo posted on a social media website. Seeing an actual photo made it pretty clear that it’s happening. And the initial comments confirmed my surprise at the change, as folks were saying no, vaping on Celebrity is not allowed.

We were on the Equinox in January and didn’t see anything about this, so very new

Our son  used to vape and it smelled, maybe not as bad as cigarettes but smelled. The exhaled smoke means we get to be exposed.   Lovely. 2nd hand smoke.

Well, give an inch, take a mile. The smokers will be challenging their right to smoke

What a dumb idea.  who is making these decisions?…

The no smoking policy anywhere inside the ship was still in effect on our March 2023 Apex cruise. I believe this ridiculous policy change is as recent as late June.

The new CEO of Celebrity. Laura Hodges Bethge. Change of command was in May from Lisa.

I’m truly hoping that this gets pulled back. It looks as if the up charge entrees may have been removed from the Equinox main dining room (based on the app).

Agreed. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for it on the Summit in 2 weeks and you can bet that if it's happening I will be addressing it in my follow-up email which I always send with "glows and grows" as we say at my school. Allowing vaping will definitely be in my "GROWS" area - and if it is happening where it shouldn't and crew are turning a blind eye to it, that will definitely be a "GROW".

I do too. I will make my (our) voice(s) heard. It's not enough to make us stop cruising with Celebrity but it's enough for us to voice our disappointment with Celebrity's hair brain decision and we will annotate it on our PCSs and follow-up post cruise Emails. Well worth my time and effort. I use to say, RC and Princess needs to follow Celebrity's lead by not allowing smoking and vaping anywhere inside their ships and balconies. I guess I'll have to keep my big mouth shut, at least for now!
