I hope Celebrity goes to a Medallion similar to Princess as there is no doubt whether you’re in your room or not

Yes, I wondered about that.  Why didn't she know we were in the room with the Medallion showing we were?  I just think the person who replaced our regular room steward had no experience.  It didn't look like she did.  There was so much covid onboard I am sure they were really stretched thin and everyone was helping in all areas.

We also deadbolt our room at night, but not usually until bedtime.  But we will in the future.  Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, they do have it.  However, they may be out of it, as reported from some recently OB ships.

Seems some Drs WILL give you an Rx for Paxlovid if you tell them youre cruising/traveling.

Mine however would not.

Knock on wood we still mask and haven't gotten covid.

But our friends we traveled with last cruise who avoided masking, both got covid.

Our next cruise in a few weeks and yes we'll be masked as usual.

We also ask our Cabin steward to Not enter our cabin without a mask,

and only need that service Once a day.

We were on a 15 day Emerald Panama Canal cruise this past April, 2023.  Wife and I fully vax'ed and boosted.  Tried to be careful, flew to ship wearing masks.  Regardless, about a third of the way through the cruise wife got Covid, I did not.  Lots of people coughing on the ship.  Went to Medical center, nurse said wife was the first case this cruise and offered Paxlovid if we wanted it.  Then doctor came in, when we told him nurse said we were first case on board he just rolled his eyes!  Clearly many had it and just did not report.  We asked doctor about Paxlovid his answer was we were welcome to it, however it really only helps shorten hospital stays, and doesn't do much for those who don't need hospitalization (his words).  So wife opted against it.  She was feeling better by day three but confined for 5 days.  They said don't take any more tests, even if you are symptom free because you can test positive for weeks and if they know you are still testing positive, you will be confined for additional days.  Wife was confined for the 5 days then was able to leave the cabin because she no longer had any symptoms

(fyi she tested positive for 3 weeks after we came home).  GREAT treatment by staff, dining delivery, room service, etc., they even sent flowers!  Only good news is because of FCC's we received for her confinement, our upcoming CA costal cruise was 50% paid for by the FCC's they gave us.  Good luck to all.

Glad all went as good as could have.

Did you have any special insurance to be able to receive FCC for Covid quarantining ?

No if you are quarantined by the medical staff you will get a letter telling you how much FCC you will be getting and it takes a month or 2 to show up in your account

That is a good question.  We did have Princess Platinum Protection, but that never came up, they never asked about it, and they made it sound like the FCCs were standard procedure since you really were not able to take advantage of most of what the cruise had to offer during your confinement.  From what I've read in the past, it is not tied to insurance.  Now cancelling your cruise before departure due to Covid is a completely different situation.

I have good luck with the privacy button. Not even a knock. Patter slid under the door at night. I've never wanted 2× day service. Just am sir. And especially after the restart .....

We have had no issues with our steward servicing our cabin when we’re there on any of our cruises. We just go out on the balcony and let him or her do their thing. When they’re done, they tap on the sliding door and wave goodbye.

Masks are really rare these days. We just  visited a friend in the ICU today and half of the doctors and nurses are not even masked. On a cruise I find my most frequent use of a mask is when I want to play a slot machine on the smoking side of the casino

Alcohol and paper towels?  Not pocket sized but effective. I would suggest Everclear, but that would probably get confiscated.

I think I "may" still have a small spray bottle (or two) that I used with alcohol. A local winery/distillery was selling alcohol as a disinfectant during Covid. (It wasn't drinkable.) If I still have that around I will just take that to spray on the surfaces in the cabin. Surface contamination is actually more likely with Noro - which we don't want - than with Covid which is more of an airborne danger.

On our last cruise a guy behind me coughed all over my back one night in the theater. The same thing happened the next night with another person. Not a lot of coughing but loud and right behind me. The next day I didn't get out of bed. In fact, I didn't get out of bed for two days. I'm sure I must have used the restroom but I don't remember it. I woke up a couple of times and my wife had brought me OJ, soup, and Rye Whiskey. (Good wife. 😁).  She went ashore in Cartagena but I missed it completely. I have almost zero recollection of those two days. I didn't have an issue with breathing (as far as I know and my wife confirms it) but was basically just "dead".  No idea what it was as it doesn't seem to conform to any version of Covid I've heard of to date.

If some clod starts coughing on me on our upcoming cruises I will get up and either move (if there is a place to move to) or leave the theater. I wish the sick people would keep their illness to themselves. Whenever my wife or I have had "the cruse crud" we have confined ourselves to our cabin. If only one had it then that one did the confinement. It's incredibly rude to spread illness around the ship when it can be (at least partly) avoided.

Like you said, you've had covid twice.

We've had it zero.

We keep doing whats worked.  Masking indoors.

I just wish more people would mask & isolate when their obviously sick, or Suspect they might be ill.

Case in point....Doctors & nurses, many are just plain tired, but covid is still out there.

Our doctor family member was recently infected by one of several other doctors

who had symptoms at work.

But because they were still testing negative? They came to work and infected many others.

Including other doctors and nurses.

And their families.  Our son and their infant daughter got very sick.

So if you might be sick?  Mask, and for petesake stay away.  Isolate.

Good luck

Our main room steward was awesome and did all that for the first 20-24 days.   It was only after our main steward got covid and we got a replacement that all the crazy things starting happening.

We also don't want 2x service and we would even be fine with a few times a week, but they insisted, even when told not to, they still did.

Laughing here! That was my DH reaction when he tested + on the Regal. He said maybe a nice  strong Tequila will help.” We’ve been taking along all sorts of Covid related items (test kits, as above, pocket and larger bottle sanitizer, masks, Lysol spray and wipes for the cabin, thermometer, BP cuff, need to add Paxlovid in our cruise). We’re both medical so we grab as much as possible. PS I lucked out, did not turn  + when he had it. Advice: pack prepared.

There is no doubt if your Medallion is in the room or not.

You do not have to be in the room even if the Medallion is.
