Just curious...but when you're anchored, will you be in international water?  ...will the casino and shops be open?

Hi, Bonnie & how's Sol 🤗

Just passing under the VZ Bridge now. We are anchoring inside the harbor, somewhere off Staten Island's north shore ... not international water.  Casino & shops will be closed for the next 2 days.

Best regards 😎

Sol's doing fine...medically.  But his balance is off...walks wobbly.  I was "the butler" for him last week.

A $50/pp obc and 10% fcc....not enuf compensation in my opinion.  I just hope they have some good entertainment planned for you guys.

Question....Sol and I have discussed this at length.  Maybe you know.  If 2 friends share a cabin, just friends....who gets the 10% FCC?

Views on the Waterfront, Deck 8 starboard side.  Seemed like this is our anchor for the next 2 days until we can proceed to Pier 88 in the morning hours of Sunday.  Belt Parkway off to the right, not far from the medical center where I used to work for, with a Level 1 Trauma Center.  We are safely sheltered against Lee but the berth at Pier 88 isn't available to us.

@mking8288 Noticed someone was taking pictures of the Escape, maybe Pete. Was hoping by tagging his CC name he would get a wakeup call. Noticed NYPD patrol boats and Coast Guard are out in force today.  Maybe someone could fly a drone to the ship with supplies, for your convenience of course.

when you’re sad that you missed 2 ports and have 3 sea days in a row, but this is the view from your balcony, I could stay here for a while…..

Agreed.  And, you can order room service for a nominal fee, the selections are actually quite good, order as much as you wish.

Everyone discovered the MDR for breakfast, hostess asking couples whether they wish to share a table. Buffet upstairs is busy & full, prime spots taken ... ditto with the Waterfront on Deck 8.

A shame you could't stay in international waters, but better safe than sorry.  So, shops and casino are closed.  NY tax on drinks (at least you have OBC!).  One other question.  Do you have regular TV channels?  Recently on the Joy, any time we were in a US port we had no regular TV service.

Also, interesting that the Royal Caribbean ship got a parking space in Manhattan as they sail from NJ.

Glad you're making the best of it!

10% FCC is assigned to an individual's Latitudes account so both would get it.

No drones allowed under Sail and Sustain.

Jim, 😆 hahaha

Let me try Uber Eat but I am sure NYPD marine will enforce a safety perimeter around all the vessels docked here along with USCG.

Could this be PistolPete ??

As for the ships already in in port, here are their next scheduled sailings:

Emerald Princess: Sept 16 - Brooklyn
Liberty of the seas: Sept 16 - Bayonne
Escape: Sept. 17 - Manhattan
Seven Seas Mariner - Sept 17 - Manhattan
Oceana Vista: Sept 18 - Brooklyn
Jewel of the Seas: not scheduled until Sept 28 - must have interrupted a one way itinerary from NJ.
Silver Shadow: was probably today as next scheduled until Sep 26 from Quebec to NYC

@Pav that would be a good choice for some that rather disembark a day early, a solo cruiser is from the Boston area and said yesterday that he wouldn't mind going & change his Amtrak ticket.

Otherwise, we are treating this as a floating harbor hotel.

@goldmom no regular TV channel, just the usual NCL and info channel, etc.  We have Samsung TV Live app on the smartphone & can stream, if we want to ... T-Mobile has great 5G LTE coverage😆 and lots of GB data to use.

Tethering now with MiFi on the smartphone 👍

Thank you for all your details posts on this voyage. We are on the Oct. 8-15 Escape.  While missing a port is always a possibility, I'm glad you were able to get in St. John.  Safe travels.

I would disagree, I don’t see them needing to do anything to compensate us. They have no control over the weather, everyone knows what they are getting into when they book a cruise during hurricane season.  Any compensation they offer is over and above what they should do.

Agree 100%, Hurricane Season in NE is always a gamble. It's on us. I leave Sunday on the Escape and know anything can happen.

Thanks, going to do our best to make it a win-win situation, no matter what ... as they say, when it rain, step out & dance.

Update, answer is no regular TV channels as typically offered via NCL ... no BBC, no CNBC, no MSNBC, no FoxNews, and no Weather Channel, etc. Or even the free movies channel.  Blackout ... probably a licensing restrictions ??   Bummer - going to hookup the HDMI converter & stream via Amazon's Fire HD tablet, or at least try to ...  (annoyed, but it is what it is - not going to get upset over it)
