Accommodation in Ft Lauderdale

We like to stay in Plantation which is only about 15 min cab ride away from FLL.  Cheaper than staying right in FLL and lots of stores and restos in walking distance.  Even with cab fare still works out cheaper.  Some hotels in Plantation offer airport and cruise port shuttles.

Riverside hotel, great hotel, great restaurants, great location.☺️

Remember to always do your homework wherever you choose to stay.   TripAdvisor is a great resource and try to read at least 10 reviews of any hotel you are interested in to get a general idea of people’s opinions. There are a few hotels in Fort Lauderdale that we would never return too because of bad experiences.

Best of luck and have a great time!

With the exception of once time when we stayed at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach, we always have stayed at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port (on 17th).  Very convenient and the hotel is always clean and comfortable.

Riverside Hotel is great. Active, fun location on the East side of Rt. 1. I prefer the older section where they have a few suites right on Las Olas Blvd. My choice is based on location and I enjoy the area enough to come in a few days early. There is a water taxi right behind the Riverside Hotel where they have a hop on/hop off narrated ride that is fun if you want to learn some history and/or go to the beach, shopping, etc. However, if you just want a place to stay overnight there are many less expensive hotels but if you end up doing more than the room/pool you could easily use up the cost savings on travel expenses from your hotel.

I second the vote for Hyatt Place. They have a shuttle to pier. $9.00 pp. We were just there and enjoyed the hotel. They have a pkg deal that includes hotel, airport pickup, and shuttle to the ship.If you have the pkg deal, there is no charge for shuttle to pier. However, the pkg deal doesn't include the return to airport. They charge extra to take you back. Go figure.

Also, they have a very nice breakfast, if you stay at hotel.

We agree with this recommendation.  Lovely clean hotel on the Riverwalk, with plenty to see/do.  We had been to FLL numerous times, always staying on 17th street.  The last visit, we chose Riverside, and wondered why we hadn't done this before!

Agree re the food at the Riverside, but feel compelled to mention the rooms and the HVAC are dated.  They work, and it's been clean on my stays.  By analogy, the rooms are like S and M class Celebrity ships that have been maintained, but not revolutionized.

Hi,

For those of you that have stayed at Riverside Hotel, was there shuttle service to the port?  If not, what mode of transportation did you take?  TIA!

You've received some excellent recommendations without anyone knowing the date and your budget.  Providing those would help narrow down your choices.  You can also check out the Fort Lauderdale tourist website (www.visitlauderdale.com) for an extensive list of hotels in all of Broward County (including Dania Beach and Plantation mentioned in earlier posts).

Taxi or Uber. So much easier than any shared shuttle service.
