Design a Princess ship: Let's have some fun

Recommended Posts

Princess currently has 4 classes of ships:

Panamax

Grand/GEM

Royal

Sun

Let's cannibalize all the good from each ship.  What would you like this NEW/but old Princess ship to look like?  You may not add venues that are currently not on any Princess ship.

I'll start (in no particular order):

1.  a theater forward and aft to spread out the entertainment

2.  Gigi's

3.  Grand Class Window Suites on Deck 6

4,  International Cafe

5.  Crooners, Wheelhouse, Explorer's Lounge

6.  Keep the Piazza clear of large events

7.  No smoking in the casino

Your turn.

A pool  with a retractable cover. An aft pool.

A forward observation lounge or deck.  A full promenade deck. A larger library - in a quiet place.

Vines

Skywalkers

Larger balconies like Caribe on Grand class

Sofa and shower doors from Sun class aka Sphere class

Window seat Oceanview from Sun

Splash pad

No charge adult only pool and deck space (Retreat, before they surrounded it with cabins like Sky and newer).

On the larger ships, Princess needs to open up the public center area and have it span a longer distance.  The Piazza looks too crowded and cramped on the Sun Princess.  Royal Caribbean pioneered this with their Royal Promenade concept and it really works to disperse the crowds.  Carnival followed suit on their Excel Class and it works.

I believe they have resolved my wishes with the Sphere class. Larger showers with glass doors and no tubs, sofas, and lots of electrical outlets. Deeper balconies would be nice as well. Drop the charge for Alfredo's. It's only pizza! Lower the noise level in the piazza.

I don't know if I will ever sail on a Sphere class ship though. Definitely not in one of those goofy Cabana mini suites. What a waste of space!

I'd say that we are both fans of Grand class ships. 6 out of 7 on your list are Grand class features.

Pretty much agree with every suggestion made.

From me - no room available for rock climbing walls and water slides.

I would like a re-imagining of the old Sun Class - smaller, less passengers, alternate ports that can handle a smaller ship.

My only must haves would be Crown Grill, Crooners, Good Spirits and a slightly expanded International Café. Add an aft pool, plus a comfortable cabin with a glass screened shower.

More importantly, the medallion MKII. Slightly modified to sense when you are just about to get thirsty, then orders your favorite tipple for you.

You just described HAL's Zaandam, and it's 25 years old...

I was thinking the same!  Zaandam was our first HAL cruise 22 years ago.

A running track!  Royal Class got it mostly right (some tighter / narrower turns than ideal).  Sphere Class seems to have made it a bit of an obstacle course.  Ugh!

Who wants to exercise on a cruise ship some of us got enough of that in the military😱🤪

I did 28 days on Zaandam going up the Amazon River in February/March.  It was an incredible cruise.  If Princess or HAL would build some new small (1500 passenger) ships, offer unique itineraries and not charge the moon for the trip. they could lock up a new market.
