Just curious- I have only been on the Golden (in 2003) and will be again in July. If you are a Princess fan and typically prefer Princess- which is your favorite ship and why? My cruising background- First cruise in 2000 to Alaska on Celebrity Galaxy (great!), Golden on the East coast (loved it); HAL Oosterdam Mexican Riviera in 2008- (ok). Looking forward to comments.

I absolutely loved the Galaxy, as well. I can't really answer yet, as I feel like I need to experience a bit more.

My first cruise was to the Panama Canal on Island Princess, so that ship is very close to my heart. I've also traveled on Coral Princess (same voyage, different itinerary). These ships are my favorites... just the right size, not too many passengers... just wish they had a Skywalkers sort of venue on the top of the ship :)

I love the Island and the Coral too, but the Ruby is incredible and I am sure that she has taken over as #1 for me. Its the incredible staff, and food, and service, and did I mention the food? And Generoso!

I seem to like "bits and pieces" of the different size ships, but for overall enjoyment I would have to pick the Emerald... loved the Piazza, Crown Grill, Sanctuary, MUTS. The only area I preferred on the smaller ships was the Vista Lounge, much brighter and better laid out than Club Fusion.

I love the small ships (Pacific, Royal and Tahitian/Ocean). Easy to find your way around. you get to know the other passengers and the staff. The itineraries are the greatest. They go to some of the most beautiful ports all over the world.

The one I'm on next is always my favorite. Actually The Golden has been my favorite. I like the smaller ship atmosphere. It was easy to get around and I loved the dedicated paddle tennis court as opposed to shared time on the newer ships.

I have only been on the CROWN and CARIBBEAN.

Loved the Crown because it seemed somewhat more intimate.

Caribbean was nice, but the theater and casino seemed awfully small.

The best part of that ship was Sanctuary.

My heart says CROWN but I love Sanctuary and I am not certain

that ship has it yet.

Even though the Dawn is smaller and older, I really liked sailing on her.

My favorite is the Coral. Just the right size and very elegant - my next cruise is on her twin, the Island, so I'm sure we'll be happy there also.

The Crown and Emerald are nice and I love the International Cafe/Atrium area but the Coral is still my favorite.

Love the amenities and decor of the Emerald, but my vote goes to the Coral for reasons mentioned above-perfect size, great promenade deck (none of those annoying stairs!), lots of public spaces and large showrooms, great library and card room, etc.

Our favorite is the Sapphire. The crew always seems so good on her. Also, the fact that she (and Diamond) are about 10' wider than the other grand class ships makes the promenade deck nice and wide. We also love the Terrace Pool area on her.

My favorite so far is the Crown. I think they did a very nice job with the modified Grand class ships in terms of layout and ammenities. Have been on the upgraded original grand class and they are nice, but there is just some things that can not be easily modified. The only draw back to the Crown is the added Riviera deck and 500 more people. Does make it a little more crowded.

Then again, I like any Princess ship that I am on......whats not to like about cruising...:D

Although none of the ships are bad in my opinion but the Coral is an all time favorite. Been on her 6 times for the simple reason I like the size and the amt of passengers(1950). I do like the International Cafe but as of yet the coral does not have that but will eventually.

Of the ships currently in the fleet, Coral/Island, followed by a tie between Sun class and the R class.

I don't care for the Grand and modified Grand class - too big for my liking.

Would have to say the Tahitian Princess is our favorite, followed by the Island and Coral. The Tahitian is beautiful with all of the wood and, as others have said, the small size and getting to know the staff is wonderful. The Coral and Island have that beautiful indoor pool playing Asian music that is SO relaxing.

Amelia, I'm really glad you said the Ruby because we will be on her next year and I was very worried about the extra 500 passengers!

I've only sailed on the Coral Princess and Tahitian Princess. One was small and more intimate, but both were great ships in their own right, and I had wonderful experiences aboard both.

I must confess to being nervous about my July cruise on the Sea Princess based on what I have been reading on the forums.

My preference is for the smaller ships, i.e., Royal Princess, because they are so much easier to get around, the service is usually so much better, and the atmosphere is more congenial. Of the larger ships, I'd say the Island or the Coral since they have the best space/passenger ratio although I'm fond of the Sapphire. (FYI, I wouldn't consider the Golden as a "smaller" ship. It's big with almost 3,000 passengers.)

I haven't been on the smaller ships (yet) .. so I have to say the Sapphire. Fabulous crew every time we have sailed her. My other favorite ship is the Oosterdam and I think they have a very similar feel to them.

Karen, It was real difficult to leave off the Tahitian, it was certainly one of our favorites as well. I do love the intimacy of the smaller ships, BUT wait until you experience the Ruby! WOW!

BTW Thanks for your GREAT "Live from" thread about your trip! I loved reading it! We're not even planning a TA cruise but I copied your final post with all of the tours and descriptions and have saved it! You never know.....;)
