Lailalyn Posted November 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Its been a few years since my first cruise to Bermuda on the Celebrity Summit out of Bayonne, all I can say is I was cheated because we had no towel animals :( ...but my family is/has booked this cruise for July 15 for a family cruise of about 20 of us. 6 members already booked and I was weighing my options of which type of room to get,...when I went to the Carnival sight itself there was only a couple like two or three balcony rooms left which were not to my liking and the same with the oceanview rooms! Does that mean most of the rooms are booked already and that is all Carnival has left? We are booking through VTG and I am hoping they have a better selection that they bought from Carnival if that is how it works. Not sure how it works but hoping I still have some choice on my room location. Thanks for any information you may have on this.
CruiserBruce Posted November 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2014 First, the best place for your research would be the Carnival board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 Second, I guess it is possible to be nearing full on balcony cabins, but it does seem a little early. Remember we are not allowed to name or discuss travel agents on Cruise Critic.
paul929207 Posted November 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Sure sounds like the cabins you want are all booked. There may be cancellations, especially when final payment is due.

Cruise lines don't always post all cabins available. You will only find out by having VTG check for you. If you have know what cabins you are interested in, it doesn't hurt to have them check. Rare Essiesmom Posted November 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Carnival, like all of the cruise lines, does not show all available rooms on their website. You need to go to one or more of the online agencies and start a booking to see what cabins are available. You don't say which Carnival ship you are looking at, but some do not have any balconies. Cruisin' Chick Posted November 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Maybe blocks of cabins are being reserved by some TAs or groups. If that's the case, any unsold cabins will be returned to inventory at some point. You can ask your TA to waitlist you for categories you're interested in. donaldsc Posted November 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Its been a few years since my first cruise to Bermuda on the Celebrity Summit out of Bayonne, all I can say is I was cheated because we had no towel animals :s: I would hardly say that the fact that you did not get towel animals means that you were cheated. Disappointed - maybe. Cheated - hardly. If you look at what was included with your cabin, you will not find towel animals on the list. DON
dorisis Posted November 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2014 You should check with your TA. They are best equiped to let you know which cabins are available.
rvsullivan Posted November 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Also could be a charter or partial charter. Any good TA should be able to help you with this.
kelkel2 Posted November 17, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 17, 2014 If you are booking with a TA then I would ask them to look, otherwise I would call the 800 number on the Carnival webpage. I think you can click on it and have them call you and you can speak to a booking specialist and talk to them about that specific question. If there is a specific cabin you are looking for they should be able to locate it or something of that same category for you. July 2015 is still pretty far away and honestly I would be really surprised to find the ship that sold out. But it is possible given that it's the summer months. But I do know Carnival does not show all cabins that are available online
Lailalyn Posted November 18, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Thanks for all the responses. My TA said she uses the same Carnival website,...but I tend to believe the rest of you who say they don't show all the availability on their site. Hopefully booking tomorrow on the Splendor,...looking for a oceanview room,...in a good location! Wish me luck :o

Rare Keith1010 Posted November 18, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Many cruise lines do not show all the inventory. Some do. Others don't. Keith

If that's what she really meant to say, it's time to look for another TA.

Hopefully booking tomorrow on the Splendor,...looking for a oceanview room,...in a good location! Wish me luck :o Hmmm...this makes me really suspicious with the cruise being that far in the future. If the ship is extensively sold out right now, I would ask Carnival if there is a convention or other large group onboard during the time period of your cruise. If there is, you might want to find out what kind of group it is and/or book for different dates as these large groups can dominate a ship. There are all sorts of special interest groups that cruise such LGBT, Bikers, nudists, salespeople of all kinds, religious groups, and so many other types of groups. It just seems to me it is likely that some kind of group is on this particular cruise and I think you had better find out if that is the case BEFORE you book.
