Just curious as to who is happy and who is not happy that NCL just a cancelled the newly released $99 VIP upgrade offer.

No comments needed as there is already a 25+ page thread with comments. I was just curious as to the actual numbers so I created the poll.

perhaps two happy categories;

1) as a suite passenger i am glad they cancelled it.

2) as a cas player i am glad they cancelled it, if it means the perks will be returned to the high level players.

As a suite guest, VERY HAPPY, more like THRILLED to the point of dancing that this was ended. If people want the perks...

PAY UP or cruise until you are PLATINUM

It doesn't effect me. I'm sailing on the breakaway in March and have thought about purchasing it (well not anymore) but decided against purchasing for several reasons that I won't go into

Then sailing in a suite on the getaway so had no intention of purchasing it however it would not bother me the least if 40 or more even purchased it

I meant pay up to cruise in a suite. Those of us that cruise in suites value those perks, and do not wish to have those benefits watered down by people being able to pay for them.

It not even the same perks as suite guests- completely water down that doesn't included the butler, personal concierge, and whatever that was not part of VIP plan that went to 40 people paying $99 . Go take some comedown pills or something, you're too darn condescending over the internet.....

I'm glad...as a CAS customer I hope this means they will Up the Golden and VIP tier benefits.

NCL should give better perks for their loyal Platinum latitudes customers that reach certain milestones.

I really think if you have been on 20 NCL cruises you shouldn't have to make a made dash for a Vibe pass IMO

That should be some kind of Platinum plus perk :)

I don't know why folks got all riled up about it, but shouldn't they feel the same about the CAS VIP's.

FWIW, as a suite cruiser, I could care less if they charge someone $99 to eat in Cagney's or have it as a perk for the CAS VIP's.

I also cruise in suites, the Cagney's thing did not bother me at all. But I have been disappointed with the changes/downgrades with CAS. I hope they bring them back.

First world problem...........

Yes it is. One of the reasons WHY we like the NCL Haven suites is the complete and total separation from the rest of the ship. Those of us that sail in The Haven pay (usually significantly) for the exclusivity and privacy that The Haven provides. I think NCL understood that allowing non-Haven guests perks that were basically "pay for elite" was going to piss lots of us off, especially those of us that cruise several times a year in high end staterooms.

Its not Haven / Suite guesst that should be upset about lost of benefit(s), it high rolling CAS that should be since they're the ones losing the privilege to dine in the Cagney for breakfast / Lunch on non- Breakaway ships. God and NCL only knows how many CAS high rollers there are compare to 40 VIP passes, so for you know it could be 60-80 people along with suite guests using the place - so don't get all happy over there since CAS can pick any room categories they want with their benefits and cash.

Another thing, you're crying over other benefits in the VIP that in hindsight has nothing to do with you such as upgraded room service menus, one free dining show at Cirque (which one can also get from UDP the 1st night), free snacks 2x a week / trip, free picture, priority disembarking and tendering. Regarding the disembarking and tendering, suites guest are the 1st to go anyway (if they got their act together), so what's exactly is the problem you're having with VIP package? You need to get off that extremely high horse, you seem to be losing oxygen to that brain of yours...... If you truly want to not deal with people at all, get a private yacht of your own since the Haven suites guests are no better than the regular passengers when it comes to foolish behaviors or maybe you can't see it since you're just as boorish....

If so many people book in the Haven so that they can get away from the masses, my oh my, how do they handle themselves in the public areas, such as the theatre, the casino, entertainment venues, etc.? Do they skip all the specialty restaurants too just in case someone from steerage may be eating there as well. Is there a special muster call for suite guests?

Hint: it's not the entertainment venues the suite guests are trying to avoid...it's not the casino, it's not the speciality restaurants, it's not muster.

It is two places where, generally speaking, people tend to devolve to an amazing and often sickening low. I will list them now:

1. Boarding wait area.

2. Buffet.

I'm sorry, Triptolemus. I usually enjoy reading your posts, but this one is unbelievable. I have stayed in The Haven on a cruise, and to be honest, found the rudest, least friendly and most self-absorbed people there than I have ever found anywhere else on the ship. They let their kids run all over the place, "sampling" cookies and putting them back, etc. Several thought nothing of letting their kids take over the private pool while they took over the hot tubs for hours. Their "right", of course. Very important people.

Often I eat breakfast and lunch in the buffet and have never noticed people devolving to an amazing and sickening low. Once, departing from Tampa when fog had delayed embarking for several hour, people were getting testy thinking that NCL owed them compensation for the fog delay. Other than that one time, I have found the huge majority of people are kind and considerate while boarding.

What I do know is that 98% of the people respond to me in the same way that I interact with them -- with courtesy and kindness. And this is regardless of where they are staying on the ship. I have always been grateful that the people I run into on the cruises seem a lot friendlier and nicer than they do on these pages!

Sailing in 6 weeks and can't wait!!:)

Says someone with Cruiser as their username...

Enjoy your IX.

It appears you didn't get what the comment is about.

That's OK, it is often difficult for others to get the intent of a post and this is a good example. :)

P.S. it also appears that you went (and I must say, in my observation, it appears very often) with the negative view and the IX comment was meant to insult, not sure why you went there or really ever go there. :) .

Have a good weekend!
