Default No Jumping, No Diving, No Proofreading

On my recent stop at Coco Cay I noticed this sign...

No "Swiming"?

At least there's no rule against "dinning".

Ha ha! On my Princess Med cruise last summer, all the photos taken in the MDR one night had the caption "Mediterranean Dinning". When I pointed this out to the photography staff, I was told that they would only change it if requested. Considering that there were a lot of passengers who didn't speak English as their first language, I imagine a lot of people took home misspelled photos. I made them change one of my photos which said "Star princess" instead of "Star Princess".

This is funny. I believe "dinning" is the most misspelled word on CC! Any chance it is the proper spelling of dining in some language?

This sign was in my forward view cabin on the Explorer:

Someone got a little enthusiastic about the use of punctuation.

I think 'dinning' runs a close second or third to "room stewart" and "loose" which I think is meant to mean "lose" (as in whenever I go to the casino I loose money) Some misspellings are simply typos, but others just expose the lack of emphasis on spelling in our schools. Spell check hasn't helped because some people seem to believe that if a word passes spell check it must be "write".

There is a big fancy professional sign near our house about a shopping center remodel....the sign says it is COMMING SOON!

It never fails to crack me up, every time I drive past it. :-)

There is a flea market in Florida and at one of the vendor booths there is a sign posted that is supposed to deter stealing. The sign says "Hiden Camer Instaled". No joke.

verb (used with object)
2. to assail with din.
3. to sound or utter with clamor or persistent repetition.

verb (used without object)
4. to make a din.
Origin: before 900; Middle English din ( e ) (noun), Old English dyne, dynn; cognate with Old Norse dynr noise, Old High German tuni, Sanskrit dhuni roaring

Is it lack of emphasis on spelling in schools or lazy brains that don't care about spelling or use of correct words once they get that diploma?

How about using...there, their and they're incorrectly? A lot of kids must have slept through English class. Yes, a lot is two words not one word.
I think "alot" just might run a close second or third.

enough venting...sorry, long day

The one I see most is the incorrect use of advice/advise. I constantly see sentences like "Can you please give me some advise?".

Painted on one of the little boats tied up to the bulkhead inshore of where the jet skies are.

Not a misspelling, but one of my favorites is when people say "I could care less" which is actually stating the opposite of what they intend to say if they were using the correct "I couldn't care less."

My first language isn't even English and yet I find something to laugh about on CC everyday!

People spell suite "sweet", chic "sheek", mannequin "manican", voila "walla", St. Maarten "st. marteen", sandwich "sammich", Mignon "minion"... OK some are French actually but looking the way they are spelled it's not common knowledge.

I can never be sure if they're trying to be funny or are they just ignorant
