Krazy Kruizers Posted January 28, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Thank you for the update. Looks as though there are going to be fewer and fewer cruises in the Caribbean for we ordinary people to sail on.

English_in_Spain Posted January 28, 2013 Author #15 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Happy to see there's no big group on my April 6th Eurodam sailing. Thanks for posting the information. As I have said before' date=' just because I have not listed your cruise as having a group, does not guarantee that there is not one. I can only list the groups I have become aware of. hvsteve1 Posted January 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Wow. I'd love to know that it cost State Farm to charter the Noordam for 5 full weeks. I know, none of my business. I used to be in the financial services business. One of the great perks was for those of us who qualified to take our spouses, all expenses paid, to a first class resort for three or four days of living as though I could actually afford that kind of vacation...free meals, free drinks, tours and parties. I would guess that a ship charter, expecially for a company that owes a "President's Club" trip to thousands of agents and executives, the $100 or so per day pp that the cheaper cabins cost and the more expensive cabins for executives and heavy hitters is competitive with a four star resort, especially considering the company doesn't have to lay out a small fortune for meals and entertainment in addition to rooms. We were on several Regent ships with business meetings sharing the vessel with us. One was a brokerage firm and the other a Land Rover dealership group and they were very upscale and fun to mix with. On a Carribean cruise we had a large bank hosting branch personnel who were obviously not accustomed to an eight day "open bar"and things got pretty rowdy in the MDR. I would suspect that, because most of these cruises where you're sharing the ship with Gospel or religious groups, things should be pretty quiet, especially in the bars. Take it from someone now living near Knoxville, listed yesterday as the number one bible reading city in the US of A. I'll take that over the jazz or R&B cruise any day. Swelldame Posted January 28, 2013 #17 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Wow. I'd love to know that it cost State Farm to charter the Noordam for 5 full weeks. I know, none of my business. A recent tidbit from one of the Noordam staff in a position to know: "You guys are doing great this cruise as far as alcohol consumption - I know, because I see the numbers every day - so keep it up! But you're still a far cry from our State Farm charters; they go through in the first night what you'll drink for a whole week!"

fridayeyes Posted January 30, 2013 #21 Share Posted January 30, 2013 Sept. 29, 2013 - Caravel Writing Workshop, approx 40 people including some headliner authors. I'm not expecting them to be rowdy as they have class all day and will be looking for quiet places to hole up and write during the evenings. scopewest Posted February 9, 2013 #23 Share Posted February 9, 2013 Thanks so much for this list. I'm on the Westerdam 9/29 sailing, and the brochure originally showed it as part of a Panama Canal cruise. Then I noticed my dates didn't match and wondered what was going on. Two one-week charters from SD and after that the ship goes through the Canal. Nice to hear a writing group is on board with me, I doubt I'll recognize any authors but maybe they'll have a public meet and sign your book session. Rare TiogaCruiser Posted February 9, 2013 #24 Share Posted February 9, 2013 It looks like Fun for Less has booked an all inclusive group for this trip: http://funforlesstours.com/tour/186/south-america-antarctica-cruise They were on veendam with us and it was about 300 people. They did get disembarkation perks in ports and it did make for some slow tendering for the rest of us. The showroom was used in the mornings so little impact on us. I believe they had fixed dining. The members I met were friendly. They are an LDS group.
