Too late for Alaska Cruise Tours for end of June?
Oceansaway17 replied to hernonmom4's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
all the ports are fun to walk around in case you can't book an excursion. In Juneau, ride the tram up to the top for wonderful views. I bet once on the ship, you will find some tours have availability. -

Is the serenity area free and for adults? I am on this ship for Thanksgiving this year. Glad to hear omelets are good -
$10 penalty for dining room no-shows????
Oceansaway17 replied to cruisestitch's topic in Celebrity Cruises
there should never be a fee attached to free dining regardless of reserving the time or not. Just plain wrong. With so many of various cruise lines threads on cruise critics concerning dining, I just chose to go the buffet and be done with it. I am not on board for fancy food and if I do want some, I make reservations for speciality on day 1 when I board. I can't ever think why someone would make food a priority for sailing. So many land based restaurants have wonderful. Of course I want to have good decent food, but not looking for spectacular food. -
Losing money because of canceled excursions?
Oceansaway17 replied to Greebo's topic in Holland America Line
wow I never gave it a thought about those not from USA and losing money due to exchange rate. That is a shame to lose excursions and money. I would be curious as to know what excursions and what ship. -
have a great crossing. Tony from La Lido Loca You Tube channel is on board. He is a tall big guy and friendly. I will watch PTZ as the ship leaves. Glad I found out and did not stay up to watch the 3:30 am arrival. I saw the ship was very slow coming and then I found out why. Hope the person is okay.

yes I do this and I tell them I have not watched the video yet but they said it is fine since I showed up to the location of the muster. They do not access who looks at video or not. Me thinks the IT dept would not be able to even handle or write a program to do this. ha ha

I say NO ONE is allowed to reserve a chair until the pool opens. Perhaps that would stop the crazys at 6 or 7am. the fact that deck chairs are put out all the time is why perhaps this is an issue.

you have that right. I know folks who once they sailed on the newer Carnival ships, really liked them. And I know folks who swore of Disney because of the kids, then they went and loved that line too. Nice amenities for adults and good food and wonderful private island. the only really bad cruise line I have read about is that Margaritaville out of Palm Beach. just a mess of a ship

Yes I agree and so does NCL as they changed back to the emuster after much and mucho complaints

What cabin do you usually sail in?
Oceansaway17 replied to S.A.M.J.R.'s topic in Royal Caribbean International
I actually hate the window over the bed since you can not stand and look out. I prefer a sofa by the window if possible. If not then I move the bed and sleep in twin. -

I think Seabourne is smaller than the ship I am going on and more expensive too. but enjoy -
when you get in the way of a person in a wheelchair that is the lowest level of rudeness IMO Honest to goodness I stick to myself as I travel solo and I feel I won't be making any friends on ships any more. If I was behind those two ladies I would have shot my mouth off to them as well.

oh yes homemade are good. Having one tonight. I like to season mine and I do not like burgers too thick. I like a little crunch around the edges. toodles

well in 2 weeks a I start the first of 9 sailings this year - 1 a month. Sorry no HAL but I am going back to Alaska and doing 1 cruise in the med on Celebrity Edge out of Barcelona. toodles it looks to me like the best ports are yet to come. I like the world cruise itinerary for RCI than HAL and avoiding Africa. enjoy the baltics -

Oceansaway17 replied to leerathje's topic in Holland America Line
yes she is one of the first ships to migrate to Europe or Alaska. A lot of the other ships leave mid April In fact, HAL has hardly any ir NONE in Fla between May-Oct. Princess and Celebrity might each have one. -
2023 Grand World Voyage with The Inside Cabin
Oceansaway17 replied to The-Inside-Cabin's topic in Holland America Line
You know I have noticed this more and more how folks run to the buses. And I notice more and more it is the over 50 crowd too. I find younger folks go with the flow and know that a sit will be there for them. I have seen a few times a married couple each try to grab a window. One time I notice this and let the tour guide know that it is not fair if a solo person has to sit in aisle and not be able to get photos. That and really if one person is really really overweight, do not make a stranger butt up next to them. -

Icon of the Seas Blocks Are In The House!

I do not blame them since so many have had issues and got delayed. Thanks for the photo of the model. I gotta say the model looks a little cheap thought. More interesting will be the crystal of the ship. My goodness you do have your sources. Do your sources know if the new Captain will stay with Wonder until summer and then go to shipyard which looks to be thawing out a bit?
