Disembarkation day - breakfast?

Ok, so I've asked just about every question imaginable for our upcoming cruise on Solstice 30 March and have had had all my questions answered and received a lot of good advice from fellow cruise critic members - so thank you all for that

My question this time is disembarkation day - according to our itinerary our cruise docks at Sydney 0630 - now I know not all 2800 passengers will be able to get off the ship at the same time, so how does it work - do they do it deck by deck? and are we able to have breakfast in the MDR or ocean view café on disembarkation day?

also another quick question, do they have alarm clocks in the staterooms? or can you get a wake up call?

I'm worried if I use my alarm on my I-phone I might not hear it - seeing as the power outlets are not near the bed

I'd hate to sleep in and miss out on one of our excursions or something!

Disembarkation is done by groups, based primarily on your flight times. You fill out a questionnaire during the cruise about your plans after the cruise, and they assign you a departure time.

There are no alarm clocks in the rooms, but you call get a wake up call.

The MDR and ocean view cafe are open for breakfast on the last morning, but the hours are much earlier than normal.

Several days before the end of the cruise disembarkation questionnaires are delivered to the staterooms. This questionnaire will ask about flight times, post cruise travel plans and so forth. You will also be asked for a preferred time frame for disembarkation. Then a few days later you will receive a set of colored and numbered luggage tags (to place on your luggage the night before disembarkation as the luggage needs to be placed in the hallway before a specified time), and also an instruction letter regarding the disembarkation process. For example, if you are issued red disembarkation luggage tags with number 5 that letter will inform you where to go to wait until your color and number are called. If for some reason your assigned time for disembarkation will not work for you, then you need to talk to Guest Relations.

There also will be a self-disembarkation option for those who want to be the first off the ship. This option requires that you handled all of your luggage with no assistance.

Both the Ocean View buffet and the MDR will be open for breakfast, but room service will not be offered. Cafe al Bacio will also have their morning pastries and danish.

There are no alarm clocks in the staterooms. Wake-up calls can be programmed into the telephone.

As everyone else has said you will complete the disembarkation questionnaire and they will give you a disembarkation time based on your onward travel plans. Regarding breakfast yes the MDR and ocean view cafe (buffet) are open but if you are booked into concierge you will be given details for a concierge disembarkation "lounge" and a continental style breakfast- croissants etc- are available, if you are aqua class you can breakfast in Blu and if you are in a suite I understand thst Luminae is open for breakfast although if that is wrong I'm sure that someone will correct me.

Yes, Luminae is also open for breakfast for suite guests. And while I don't want to confound the process, there will also be a lounge for Elite/Elite+ loyalty members to wait until their color/number is called; that lounge will also have coffee, juice, danishes and so forth. Suite and Zenith loyalty members can wait in Michael's Club, and are escorted off the ship when they are ready to depart.

On our last cruise on Equinox, we were not given disembarkation questionnaires. Not sure if this was just missed or a change in procedure. They do ask for your flight times when you check-in, so wondering if they have stopped handing out questionnaires.

thanks for the replies - we will be in no hurry to disembark as we will be staying on in Sydney for 4 nights... in fact a later disembarking time will be better for us :-)

I know over the years there have been times I wanted to be in the last group off.....even though you will be given forms to fill out, I would always speak with Guest Relations when turning in my paperwork and would tell them I want to be in the last group.

So I would suggest you do that as well.

We usually prefer the walk-off option. Because I do not like being rushed on the last morning, Hubs and I have developed a nice little disembarkation routine... on the second last morning, we go up to the buffet and choose some fresh fruit, a couple of containers of milk, cereal, yogurt, muffin, etc, and basically take a easy quick 'breakfast' back down to our cabin and put it in our fridge. The next day on our final morning while I am in the shower, Hubs goes to Cafe Al Bacio and gets us a couple of Americanos and we enjoy one last peaceful breakfast in our cabin. We finish last minute packing and then head down to wait to leave. It works very nicely for us and is much less stressful not having to deal with any possible cranky rushed people in the buffet and elevators, etc.

We have not received the Debarkation questionnaire in the past 4 months. When I inquired about it on the case we left yesterday I was told they it longer use that form.

They use a combination of info you complete during on-line Check-inand Celebrity transfer bookings.

We just got off the Solstice on March 5. We were given, and filled out, disembarkation questionnaires. Despite our request for the latest possible time slot, we were given an earlier one (with corresponding luggage tags). DH immediately went down to Guest Relations and had it changed. Our breakfast options were MDR until 8:00 (same schedule for Blu and Luminae) and Oceanview Cafe and Al Bacio until 8:30. The buffet wasn't as crowded as it usually is, since so many people had left the ship already. I still find it impossible to have a relaxing breakfast on disembarkation day :(:(:(.

No questionaires on the Reflection a year ago.

The Elite lounge has only tea, coffee, water , juice in small paper cups. The pastries are very small and only usually 2 types . Definitely not a breakfast

Are Elites still escorted off pretty early in the process?

I think we will do what beltane does and pick some things up from the buffet the morning before we leave and the night before and refrigerate it. Nice chilled out breakfast in stateroom . We always self disembark and wander off about 9 am

We didn't get a questionnaire on the Solstice on our GBR cruise in January. We were just given the 8am time. We went to the MDR and had breakfast but as a hint if you are planning on going on the elevators, go up to go down, if you understand what I mean. Everyone is trying to go down and those who are self-disembarking have their cases too, as well as hand luggage.

Enjoy your cruise, and if you drop your luggage off early enough, who knows I may see you on Good Friday as I am disembarking. I promise that we might leave some food and drink for you.

I think you will find that your room steward will be at the door by 8am. We were surprised that they were surprised to still find us in there when we had a checkout after 8 last year. We hustled so we could leave and he was very apologetic, but I'm pretty sure they expect all rooms to be vacated by 8.

Yes, you need to be out of your cabin by 8AM. They tried 7:30AM for a bit but they changed it back to 8:00. That's why they have assigned waiting areas... it's where you go after you leave your cabin, before you're called to get off.

You can plug your phone into your charger on the desk, it's right opposite the bed. If you crank up the volume you should have no issues hearing it go off. You're never more than about 10 feet from anything in your cabin;). As far as getting off goes you don't really need to pay much attention to the numbers (no one checks your number). If you want to hang about longer you can. But there's really not much to do that last morning. All the public areas are crowded with people waiting to get off. The buffet and MDR close early although if you're in the MDR eating you can hang out for quite a while before you start getting "dirty looks". So if doors close at 8am, go in then and you can eat then enjoy a few cups of coffee while the ship empties.

We did not receive a questionnaire for our disembarkation on the Reflection earlier this month. We were good with our tag number so never changed them out.

As to breakfast in your room, the steward will lock the fridge when he/she turns down your bed on the last night. Not sure if you can ask to have it left open as they lock it for inventory control!
