AMEX Offer: Spend $500 on Carnival, get $100 statement credit

I didn’t think Carnival would do that. Trying to decide if I should call and ask. I made a $675 deposit on a Panorama cruise a few weeks ago and then added the offer. We just paid for season ski passes so I don’t really want to pay another $500 today for my 2020 cruise.

Yep they will. It’s only final payment that they can’t.

Can you use this offer more than once ? I used it to pay for a cruise in March and i was trying to pay for another cruise just now and I followed the link on the first page and it says that I already used this offer. I can’t find it when I log in on my computer

No. Only once per card per offer period. It's one and done.

I was able to activate my Delta American Express Card to receive the offer. I paid $500 toward my cruise in September and received the e-mail for the $100 statement credit immediately. And the $100 credit appeared on my statement the next day.

I went ahead and called and they told me you can only use the offer once! Bummer! He said next time around I can use it but only get one $100 credit.
However, if you have other cards for members of your family, they (you) can also do it on their cards. Too late now, but you can prepare for next time.

I booked through AARP and they said in order to get their $200 OBC I had to pay for everything with 1 credit card. Bummer, we wanted to use 2 AmEx cards but we couldn’t [emoji853]

Update.....or not.

I never received the $100 credit, so after chatting online with 2 different customer service reps who assured me I would received it, I took the drastic step this morning of writing an old-fashioned letter to AMEX. I'm asking them to check into this for me, and either credit my account the $100, or explain to me in writing why I didn't receive it so I'll know what to do, or not do, the next time.

I'll let you know what happens.

I had to call several times. Sometimes I was assured I would get it; other times the person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about.

I did finally get it after I was transferred to someone who actually knew something.

And I still do not know why I did not get an e-mail acknowledging that I had used the offer.

Got our $100 credit using our Delta card. Thanks for the tip!

Hi there, did you get the credit recently? I was able to use the offer on my Delta card, and by the time I thought about getting my father to use his card, I thought the offer had expired. Is it still working or did you do this a while ago?

You're welcome.

IIRC, the person they transferred me to was an "online specialist". I called on a Wednesday, and was promised it would show up by Monday. I think it was Saturday, possibly Sunday, I saw it posted with Friday's date.

Good luck getting the credit. I know how frustrating it is when it is not showing up.

Update

Last week I sent AMEX a good old fashioned snail mail letter, and today I received an email notification telling me to long into my account. Here's what the message said:

Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Thank you contacting us about your recent request regarding bonus miles.

This is to inform you that we have forwarded your request to the concerned department and they may contact you shortly.

American Express is dedicated to providing our customers with superior service, and we assure you that your inquiry or request will be resolved as quickly and accurately as possible. If we can be of any further assistance, do not hesitate to call us at the telephone number indicated on the statement or card.

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to serve you.

Sincerely,

American Express Customer Care

Nice try, AMEX, but I wasn't contacting you about bonus miles, I was contacting you about an offer that didn't get redeemed. I'm less hopeful now, but still hanging in there.

Given that you sent a request using a method (I can't even call it technology) that was used when they didn't have AMEX Offers, it's not surprising that you got the wrong form letter email back. I wouldn't be concerned about the incorrect wording. At least someone read it and sent it on for investigation, which is better than I expected would happen.

I read on a deals board that someone got a new offer ONLY for Carnival, $75 back on $350, expires 7/31. I checked one of my cards and didn't have it, so YMMV on having it.

Does it seem as if AMEX offers couple times a year? We have the newest deal but we just got back from Europe and my oldest is starting college in August and with all the $$$ going out the door, I would like to wait til later this year or next year to use this (as we never leave a balance on credit cards). We used this deal on our last cruise and would like to use again just need to give the poor pocketbook a break!! ;) We booked our 20th Anniversary cruise for Dec 2019, so we have a while for the deal to come around again.

The last couple of years, the Amex-World's Leading Cruise Lines offer of $500/$100 has been made available early in the year then again late in the year. I don't know if that pattern will hold for 2018/2019 but I would not be surprised if it did, in fact, I'm hoping that happens.
