I believe that each passenger has a seat in the lower air-conditioned portion of the rail car plus a seat in the open air upper portion of that same car. The cars were purposely built for this excursion in the US. The swaying is caused by the poor condition of the rail bed on the right of way.

You're right! There is a seat for each passenger in both the lower and upper.
You can switch back and forth anytime you wish. Both seats are yours.

When I rode the train most people sat on the top, yes it was sunny, this is the Caribbean. I enjoyed the views from the top, sure there is movement with this ride, it is on a train. I really liked this excursion, I guess it is not for everyone.

That was not the case in our experience. We were told the lower car was filled and everyone had to sit down. There are tables in the lower car with 4 seats and all were filled. We were not allowed to stand and there was no switching back and forth.

Does anyone know why the afternoon sugar cane train ride through Princess is cheaper than the morning one? I would rather go in the afternoon anyway and it is 20 dollars less per person. Each trip states that it is 3 hours.

I believe that the morning trains sell out because you can do the train and still have time for other excursions plus the beach before heading back to the ship.

I believe on Royal Caribbean they were the same price. One difference was taking a catamaran or the bus back, the bus was cheaper.

I did this train ride a few years ago, and we saw more than sugar cane fields. Some of the best photos I have of that island are from the views from that train.
