Disembarkation day - breakfast?

I know over the years there have been times I wanted to be in the last group off.....even though you will be given forms to fill out, I would always speak with Guest Relations when turning in my paperwork and would tell them I want to be in the last group.

So I would suggest you do that as well.

Our experience is similar to that of Lois, complete the questionaire, but stop by guest relations and reinforce what you submitted.

Our last three cruises we were in the final group.

As to breakfast in your room, the steward will lock the fridge when he/she turns down your bed on the last night. Not sure if you can ask to have it left open as they lock it for inventory control!

thanks for that info - I will have to ask them to leave the fridge open on the last day as I am type 2 diabetic and take insulin daily and that needs to be kept in the fridge!

The AC can keep the room quite cool and insulin should be fine kept out of the fridge. My wife is type I and never keeps hers in the fridge. The fridge isn't really a fridge anyway, more of a slightly cool box. If you do want to keep it cool, have them bring you an ice bucket (and ice). Also when you board ask for a sharps container from your room steward for needles and such.

Are Elites still escorted off pretty early in the process?

I don't recall anyone being escorted off the ship (early or late in the process). Maybe if a person is in wheelchair and needs special assistance..........but I don't think Capt's Club Status has anything to do with disembarkation.

No, I do not believe that Elite Status people are ever escorted off the ship. Perhaps they were years ago?

Or were you just trying to be funny?

I remember the cc hostess leading people from the lounge to the exit. I don't remember how long ago that was . Priority embarkation and disembarkation used to be listed as perks- and I remember using once we reached select .

I store medication in the fridge, too, and it never happend to me, that the fridge was shut. Actually, it never occured to me that this could be done. It's your cabin until you leave.

On the last night of our December 2016 Reflection cruise we were packing and put the do not disturb on and ran to dinner. When we came back he had piled our sodas on the counter and locked the fridge. Did not change towels or service room .

I think this is a way for the cabin stewards to get a head start on preparing the cabins for the next sailing. As passengers, I guess we can’t have it both ways. We don’t want to feel “pushed out of our cabin” at the end of a cruise, but we want our cabins ready as early as possible when we board. Just tell your cabin steward that you need access to the fridge the next morning, and I’m sure he will leave it unlocked.

On Reflection in December 2017 we didn't receive the questionnaire about departure time and received one that was later than we wanted. We just went to Guest Relations and had it changed with no problem. Also, the fridge was locked when we returned to our cabin the last evening. I'm pretty certain that if you have the issues mentioned an arrangement can be made, but I'd make sure to mention it ahead of time and then remind the steward that day. They have a lot to do and things can get lost in the busy times of turnover days.

For the OP, my advice if you don't have a flight you need to catch, go to the MDR for a nice meal before disembarking. They will ask you to leave your larger pieces of carry on luggage by the door at the MDR .... but so nice to take advantage of a nice sit down meal prior to leaving the ship.

There are a couple of details that I don’t recall seeing mentioned. My aoologies if I am being repetitive.

Celebrity does not make announcements during the disembarkation process. You must go to your assigned waiting area and you will be told when it is your group’s turn to leave.

They put the luggage out in the terminal in order of the luggage tags being called. If you disembark before your group is called, your luggage will most likely not be available. You can leave any time after your group is called.

The Elite/Elite+ departure lounge is staffed by the Captain’s Club hostess. She will be notified when a group of luggage tags is being called. She then escorts those in that group to the gangway and they hold the other passengers and let the Elites go. All Elites do not leave at once, only when their tag color/# is called. At least that is how it was done the last two times I waited in that lounge.

They make many announcements during debarkation. We often wait in the Café and they always announce what groups are leaving. On a couple of occasions I left the ship well ahead of my number due to the debarkation running late. My luggage has always been there.

We usually prefer the walk-off option. Because I do not like being rushed on the last morning, Hubs and I have developed a nice little disembarkation routine... on the second last morning, we go up to the buffet and choose some fresh fruit, a couple of containers of milk, cereal, yogurt, muffin, etc, and basically take a easy quick 'breakfast' back down to our cabin and put it in our fridge. The next day on our final morning while I am in the shower, Hubs goes to Cafe Al Bacio and gets us a couple of Americanos and we enjoy one last peaceful breakfast in our cabin. We finish last minute packing and then head down to wait to leave. It works very nicely for us and is much less stressful not having to deal with any possible cranky rushed people in the buffet and elevators, etc.

This is what my wife and I do. Except here in the UK we have kettles in the cabin for one last mug of tea.

thanks for the replies - we will be in no hurry to disembark as we will be staying on in Sydney for 4 nights... in fact a later disembarking time will be better for us :-)

If you don't like the time you are given for departure then you can go to guest services and ask them to give you a later time. This is important because the luggage that is put out the night before gets grouped by departure time. If you receive an 8:15 time, but don't want to leave until 9, you can just stay on the ship until 9, but then you may find your luggage sitting by itself and unattended in the 8:15 row. We like to stay onboard until the last minute to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the MDR, so now we do a late walk off with all our luggage in tow. We just bring our suitcases with us to the MDR.

..........also another quick question, do they have alarm clocks in the staterooms? or can you get a wake up call?

I'm worried if I use my alarm on my I-phone I might not hear it - seeing as the power outlets are not near the bed

I'd hate to sleep in and miss out on one of our excursions or something!

No need to bother with setting an alarm on a cell phone.

Just use the wake-up call button on the telephone right beside your bed.

They are very reliable and extremely quick and easy to set.

All you do is punch in 4 digits for the time you want to be awakened.

For example, you would punch 0615 for 6:15 a.m.

It even reads the time you set aloud to you, so you can correct it in case you made a mistake.

If you happen to be in the bathroom when the wake-up call rings, or don't pick up the phone for whatever reason, it calls you back again.

Some ships have 1 person monitor the usage of fridge pay items and other ships have the room steward take care of this. Maybe this was a dedicated fridge person who was trying to submit the last minute purchases to finalize room charges.

I hope you reported this as nobody is supposed to enter the room (except in an emergency) when you have the Do Not Disturb sign out.

On the last night of a Celebrity cruise, we stock our fridge with the following morning's breakfast, just as so many others do, since Celebrity does not provide room service breakfast on the final morning,

(That is probably the #1 thing we dislike about Celebrity.)

So far, in all our years of cruising with Celebrity, they have never removed our items or locked our fridge on the last night.

Maybe we have just been lucky, or maybe it is because we always have our stateroom attendant empty our fridge on the first day of any cruise, so there is no inventory to do on the last night.

We find it so much more efficient to have breakfast in our stateroom on the final morning. One of us can eat breakfast while the other is using the bathroom. Then we swap places.

After finishing breakfast, getting dressed and packing up the last minute items we can use our own bathroom one last time and brush our teeth before leaving.

The final day is always chaotic on Celebrity cruises.

That is one thing that Holland America does so much better, delivering room service breakfast and letting passengers stay in our staterooms until we are ready to disembark.

Why not do both? I always set my cell phone alarm for 10 or 15 minutes later in case the wake up call doesn't come through or in case I pick up the phone and go back to sleep (I'm a heavy sleeper).

I would suggest that the OP learn how to set the cell phone alarm and practice using it at home before the cruise. Mine is louder than my regular alarm clock. I actually have stopped using the alarm on my bedside clock altogether because the iPhone one is better.
