suite perks

Recommended Posts

so my fiance and i are going on a cruise in may of next year and its our first time in a suite, at that a grand suite on harmony of the seas.. i have researched the best i could on all the perks etc for the:D sky class. is there an actual site or blog that explains the perks in detail and then the ones that are not listed?

I wrote about the suite perks on the Liberty of the Seas on my blog. I don't know how helpful it is, though, since we were on a different class of ship. I provided the link in case it gives you some insight. My summary version, however, should apply regardless of class of ship: I don't care to stand in a lot of long lines when I am on vacation, so I often budget to avoid it where I can. For me, that was the biggest suite perk of all-- time after time I could quickly get where I was going.

I realize that Harmony is one of the mega ships...I have a Grand Suite on Grandeur...does anyone know the perks for that? Will we receive something in our email?

Thank you in advance

You get most of the same things, except no Coastal Kitchen.

You get free room service, order off the MDR menu for room service (menu is left in your cabin each day). Breakfast is available in Giovannis for suite guests.

There is a concierge lounge, with drinks and snacks in the evening.

At ports and returning to Baltimore, you can go to the concierge lounge and they reserve and elevator and get you off quickly. Also with a special shorter line for immigration/customs.

We sailed in a GS last August and will be doing so this August, also on Granduer.

Jeramias and checker are saints. They are not there the first day to later on, afternoon/evening.

If you have any requests for them, such as reservations for the comedy show or specialty dinning. You can email them a week before the cruise. They have a line of people the first day.

Let them know if you would like the bridge tour too.

One of my favorite perks of suites is the disembark. You pick a time, meet at coastal kitchen. Jerimias and Checker have a key to the elevator. They bypass all, walk you to a seperate luggage station, and then customs.

I'm saying from coastal kitchen to cab 10-15 minutes

Never an issue....

Just ask the maitre'd what he thinks of that. I GUARANTEE you that is not what they will say....at least not with a smile.

Although they will probably accommodate you.

He may or may not inform you that they have to send someone the main dining room kitchen for your 'special' order.

Considering as a suite guest, I can have anything from the MDR menu delivered to my suite, I'm sure it's not a problem to deliver to Coastal Kitchen.

We loved Jeramias and Checker, too! They were so helpful. Always helped with any request. They both have a great sense of humor.

I also agree about the disembarkation. That alone almost makes the cost of a suite worth it!

On our last cruise there was a younger guy that had never had this perk and was questioning if it was really worth it and if it really saved that much time. We pointed out the lines on the ship and all of the people that we passed by and he couldn’t believe it.

I agree that they can do this but on balance I would find it easier to enjoy the ordering off the MDR menu in the MDR. I say this having pre-ordered special veg meals for my wife in the CK which were essentially ones available as default in MDR. Didn't always go smoothly. We experienced the good, the bad and the ugly.

some not mentioned

Speedy boarding for suite guests or a separate lounge area before boarding

departure dedicated lounge and escorted off the ship to separate baggage area on dock.

GS+ On some ships there are still the DVD players in the cabin and films and games available from the concierge .

you may have to ask for the Dvd player now, if it is not available you can watch the pay for films for free.

Just check with the Concierge.

Room service was free.

usually a suite party with the officers as well

tours of the Bridge and Galley are also offered.

fellow travellers in the suite lounge will tell you what is available just ask and enjoy the cruise and perks

hope it helps j

It will be done but they have to use one of the waiters as a runner down to the main dining room kitchen to get the order rather than picking the normal order up in the coastal kitchen kitchen. They don’t have a separate runner and if they are busy it will slow someone else’s table service.

Just trying to understand this.....

We have had a suite many times and are not aware of this.

We want to take our own luggage off. We are older and this is getting more difficult.

Are you saying that we can just go to Coastal Kitchen and they will have an elevator we can use to get off & escort us to the exit?

This would be fabulous. It is very hard to get an elevator off on the last day that you can get into with your luggage.

Our experience was that they had set departure times in the suite lounge for suite guests. You can choose from 7:30/8:30/9:30am. Basically, you meet them at the time that you choose and one of them will take you down and escort you all the way to customs. They have a pass to call the elevators and they will walk you (as a group) past any lines waiting to exit. I agree in that this was one of the best perks.

I was sky class on harmony. We had a grand suite. All we had to do was tell the concierges what time on disembark we wanted. I believe it started at 7:15 am.

And they call the elevator with a key. They walk you all the way off. Stopping the self disembark schlepping luggage so we may pass.

Even the suite luggage is seperate from everyone else. It is closest to the customs agent. It is a huge perk

Are these the same perks for sea class?
No unfortunately not. Junior suites are not included in a lot. First and foremost is the concierge lounge, and restricted coastal kitchen.

My next 3 cruises are in junior suites. But thats ok, cause they are smaller ships.

Same here. For Oasis/Quantum Class I like to book GS and above because I think the suite benefits go further on those ships. We have a JS booked on Mariner in two months and that's fine too.

One small perk with the junior suite is double crown and anchor points. It maybe important to some people.

Perks not as good as GS or better, but JS does have a few:

Bathtub (except for Empress)

Walk-in closet (very few on Vision class, none on Majesty, Empress, Anthem?)

Dinner at Coastal Kitchen (Quantum and Oasis class only)

Priority check-in and boarding

Tea kettle and coffee maker

Bathroom amenities

Robes

Extra C&A point per night

Distinctive color SeaPass card (no other use except distinction).

JUST CURIOUS...I keep reading how GS and above get free room service, but I am fresh off Symphony of the Seas and was in a GS. I was told GS DO NOT get free room service...ONLY "STAR" Guests have that perk.

That is a very recent change then. GS should still be able to order room service at N.C. you should also have been able to order off the MDR menu for dinner.

Star class would also be able to order from specialty restaurants.

We were on Harmony May 19-26 in a CL suite, we ordered room service and it was free. I sure hope this is not something else they have taken away.
