Diamond Plus Loss of Benefits

Recommended Posts

Just sailed on Liberty of the Seas on July 3, 2016. As a Diamond Plus member, I was disappointed to hear about the loss of a Concierge Club benefit on ships that now have Suite Lounges., but I had read about the change prior to the cruise.

However, my bigger disappointment is the loss of an exclusive Departure Lounge & No Priority Disembarkation for Diamond Plus & Diamond tiers. On the Liberty of the Seas, all Crown & Anchor members are now lumped together for departure.

Did you notice if there was priority departure for Pinnacle Club members?

Whilst I appreciate that it's a 'first world problem', if it's advertised as a benefit it should be provided. The reason Royal has a loyalty program is to keep people rebooking with them. If they don't deliver on their end of the bargain it certainly leaves a sour taste in one's mouth, reducing the likelihood of rebooking in future.

I'm surprised to hear that Departure Lounge and Priority Disembarkation are not available for D+ on LOS. Those perks are listed on the official Royal Caribbean website as benefits for that tier level.

If I were you, I would call RC and voice my disappointment.

Priority disembarkation was not available on the Oasis April 1 cruise. Argued till I as blue in the face and explained to the rep. that if I'd known about this I would have not taken my sweet time to disembark. Had a party of 9 including 3 small children--he finally got tired of me belly-aching that he let us off.

according to this post on Gulf Coast departures, yours was the FIRST sailing to depart from the new side of terminal 2, and the old side was closed at the same to further remodel. The entire project is not yet complete. It's quite likely your boarding experience (no boarding lounge for those with C&A status) is just temporary until the project is complete. Hope you had a lovely cruise anyway!

How would he know about Pinnacle departure if he is D +??

He might be asking to see if it exsists for future reference, as he is the CC member on the RC boards with the wealth of knowledge. Perhaps Bob is Pinnacle, and he was asking for himself?

As for your question, the OP could have read about a Pinnacle departure in the departure ship flyer. They could have also been told by a crew member when asking if there was no D+ priority departure, just Pinnacle.

Oops - now that I've had my coffee, I see OP was talking about disembarkation from ship, not Galveston departure lounge in the terminal!

OP, disregard my previous post. Still hope you had a lovely cruise!!

Things that are advertised as perks of membership at various levels of the C&A program should be provided, no doubt.....so let your feeling known by contacting them.

For us a lounge on the day of disembarkation from the ship is the least important benefit; but what is important to us isn't the same as what is important to others, I fully realize. It wouldn't even impact whether we booked a particular sailing or not, nor whether we continued to cruise on a line or not.....just not important enough of an issue....but LET your feelings be known, for sure.

I remember seeing the name and email of an individual who heads up the C&A department. Perhaps someone can provide that information in this thread.

Yes...Suite (Grand & up) as well as Pinnacle had priority that met in the Schooner. All other C&A tiers were welcome to meet in the Michaelangelo Dining Room from 8:30 thru 10:30. We decided to "walk off" with the "Self Carry" group, hired a Porter who have their own Customs Lane thus bypassing most walk off customers.

HI We are only Diamond but were on Majesty in May and June and both times we were all lumped in a universal departure location, with everyone, including green tag non C and A's. Disembark was a zoo and the customs line in the Port Canaveral new terminal was 45 minutes of standing in lines not moving at 8:45 AM. The terminal luggage area was full to capacity. Our luggage tags from Royal had been ripped of in transit and we found our bags pushed against a far wall, fortunately. What priority??? Looks like it is gone for sure. I guess they are only interested in "new suite customers" and have quite enough that they are not concerned about other than them. We did have a wonderful cruise but disembark was the worst I had ever encountered, and surprised us. I shudder to think of disembark with several more thousands off of Oasis in PC.

I believe all C&A members were welcome to utilize a designated area, usually one of the lounges as "priority" debarkation. Yes, Pinnacles were with the suites in the Schooner bar. We debarked July 3 and were a bit later to go than George C, at about 8:45. Tho' the concierge, Carlos, escorted us all the way into the terminal where the luggage was located, it was still a long trek thru' the "new" terminal and lots of folks who did not belong in his priority line butted in front of some of the gold card guests. I thought debarkation was quicker by quite a bit in the "old" terminal. We also were directed by Carlos to a priority customs lines, which was great!

You might not have access to the Suites Lounge, but you still have access to the Diamond Club which has all of the same amenities.

Pinnacle Club Members and lumped together with Suite Guests and are given special red tags and a special area to wait in the morning.

Hopefully this post made you feel better because, if not, then it was totally worthless and rude.

Having sailed on both Oasis and Allure lately, they both have the fastest debarkation for Pinnacle/suites than ever experienced. We all met the concierge at 8:00. He walked us to the gangway and port terminal employees stopped everyone else as we walked by. We found our luggage, went through customs and out the door by 8:20.
