They did on the Carnival Sunshine. We got off last Sunday.

DH won't book another cruise if that is standard.

Can anyone tell me if Ships out of other ports...Ft. Lauderdale and Miami in particular have that same $10 minimum bet for roulette?

Thank you

Unfortunately it seems like that is the way of the world. All casinos just keep raising the minimums or mess with the odds / payouts.

I miss the good old days when you could find two dollar BJ tables in just about any casino and you could just relax with a nice free drink in your hand.

DW and I could play all day for $100.00 and have mucho entertainment and drinks for cheap. Of course it is all relative when you consider how much less my income was in those days.

I'm willing to bet if that roulette table stays empty they will lower the minimum.

Thanks.

I hope people just off other Carnival Ships will post.

He has to go. He is my driver. NO FUN without him. so I am concerned about it.

It seems like they did a good business around the roulette table with a five dollar minimum.

We will check other lines and switch if they still have the $5 bet.

He never sets foot in land based casinos. Only plays roulette on vacations. I can see his irritation. His money went FAST. the last three days of the cruise.......He did not bet at all. He still had a good time, but does not want to sail on the Sunshine again if they remain that high.

Like everything else, betting is a victim of Dynamic pricing. Not roulette, but I've been at many tables where the minimum bet has changed while at the table, we get grandfathered in at the lower minimum. I can honestly say I've played at a $100 table.:D

The Glory in May had $5.00 min. There is a $5.00 minimum on the inside numbers and also a $5.00 min on the outside bets.

Was the table posted as $10.00 min.?? Did he ask anyone in the casino about it? There are two roulette tables..were they both $10.00 min.

A higher minimum might make me adjust my gambling habits, but refusing to book a cruise over it??

I am certain that the minimum bet on the roulette tables ( 2 of them) was $10 on the June 27-July 5th Southern Caribbean cruise. He talked to other players about it. I went to the table with him after that to see what numbers had come in as he always plays the same number. $5 on the same number each turn of the wheel.

Odd way of betting, but he has won more than he has lost. NOT on the Sunshine. He lost and then quit when he had lost his maximum.

And to me............few people get rich gambling. But he usually won enough to play some on their money and he enjoyed it. Enjoyed watching the action.

He said that one other guy said he had just gotten off of the Freedom before our cruise and the minimum was still $5 there.

So far........only the Sunshine has had $10 minimums.

The roulette minimum was $10 on RCI's Majesty of the Seas last weekend (July 3-6). My SO played way less than usual, I didn't play at all this time. The 3-card poker also had a $10 minimum on Day 1. That equates to $40 per hand for those who play the bonus bet. We both tried it for a short time. Other people joined the table, ran through their money in 15 minutes or so, and left. The next afternoon the minimum had been lowered to $5 and stayed at that amount for the rest of the cruise.

On the Breeze in January. I sit down at Roulette and buy in for $100. Got my chips and told the croupier he only gave me $50 worth. "No they are $2 each". What??? He said the minimum was $10. I proceeded to cash out without playing one roll. That was my fault for not checking first. But what happened to $1 chips? All week I checked the tables and they were $10 minimum. I may have $10 out there but I don't want to HAVE to put that much out. Didn't play even one roll of Roulette. I played LIR. It was still $5 minimum. That may be because a different company actually owns the rights to LIR. But I'm not sure about that.
