I have no idea what you're talking about. I posted here after I asked the question of JH. I posted here again, almost an hour later, after he answered me to let people know he responded. The "go read for yourselves" was because of the copyright sticky at the top of this group. The  was in response to his tap dancing around the issue. Feel free to make up your own story to go with my posts though.

My new plan for taming the Chog is to first spot multiple hogged chairs, like at least 5. Then, after the time penalty has expired, move all of the CHOG-memorabelia to one of the five chairs. Then I take the one I need. Soon enough the other newly empty chairs will be taken up as well by random people. The Chog's will eventually return and try to confront those people who will truely have no idea what they are talking about and will hopefully tell them just that. There a 25% chance they ask me, but "I'm just as confused as you are sir or madam. I just saw an empty seat next to this pig pile of crap on this other chair and I sat down to enjoy my DoD."

Moving a Chog's stuff...zero dollars. Helping people find a seat...zero dollars. Drink of the Day...nine dollars. Shafting a Chog...priceless.

I just got off the Elation today and there was so many chairs that I never had a problem getting chairs on sea days. There was one woman who had about ten towels and was laying them on the chairs and I did tell her that chair reserving was not allowed and she just replied that they wereall at breakfast and just taking a while. Funny though that they www still empty an hour and a half later.

To those of you who are brave & move the stuff -

After eyeballing a "saved" chair for an hour or so that has been empty, I give their stuff to the pool/towel person and sit down. If they come back, then I tell them "Gee, the person that left said he/she was leaving" and go back to doing whatever I was doing.

It takes two to have an argument. I chose not to participate.

there is no way I would ever take a carnival room towel the big blue one and leave it alone for fear of being taken and then me being charged for it, I do not use the loungers that much if I happen to be on lido and one is free I stop and use it if I am inclined to hang out on the deck for awhile otherwise I could care less!!! my daughter is a sun bather and she gets up at 8 am or so and heads to the lido till about 12 noon or 1 pm I am not a sun worshipper like her! so I will just find an empty table close to where she is sunbathing and hang out there till a lounge opens up if I want to sit by her for awhile or to watch her lounger while she runs to ladies room or gets something to eat!! they should make placecards and leave them on the lounger if you need to run to the bathroom or grab someting to eat so peple will know you will be right back otherwise its free game I think!!!!

I could not find your question on facebook. Could you paraphrase his reply?

Sure! Basically, they had a big meeting full of ideas. They're going to have another meeting to decide which ideas are good ones. Everyone at the meeting knows they need to improve in that area. He will keep me/us informed.

So, pretty much, nothing new. Surprised?? :)

Back from the Fantasy 4/28-5/04 cruise. The attendant on the serenity deck monitored unoccupied chairs and enforced the 30 minute rule. We saw him remove towels and other items several times and escort waiting passengers to the chairs. I don't know if this same monitoring was going on in the pool area.

"Moral of the story....early bird gets the worm"

Yes,but the bird eats the worm. He is not allowed to leave it there for two hours and expect it to be there when he returns.

Hahahaha I just spit my coffee at my monitor because of that one!

We were on a RCCL cruise during the holidays soon after 9/11/01. We were in the Caribbean, so of course the deck chairs were at a premium. My hubby and I waited at least 45 minutes, and finally just moved a chair hog's towel and hat, placing them on the table next to the chair. We decided to share the chair, and sat there for another half an hour when along came the chair hog herself who proceeded to throw a hissy fit. We sat there listening to her rant and rave calling us everything she could. She said "You must be from New York", as if that were an insult. What if we were? What if we had lost a family member? Horrible. Sad, how quickly people forget that New York took one on the chin for this great nation. And no, we're from laid back California.

Being from New York is an insult. I think when ever anyone comes west of the Mississippi they much have a green card or passport. Plus I dont get your comment about New Yorkers and 9/11. People across the country loss friends and neighbors in that incident. It just happened to be the spot where it hapened. What did they do to take it on the chin?

here is that pic for those not on facebook:

I didn't read all 18 pages to see if anyone else noticed this or not. The towels in that picture are on every-other chair. No books, no sandals, just towels. It looks like it was staged. Now that I look at it again, it's the one that was talked about with the towel animals. I missed that when I first looked at it.

Just to put my $.02 in...

I think it should be against the rules to hold a chair for any reason whatsoever. It doesn't bother me because (it may not make sense but) I don't like sitting in the sun much and I've always found a chair whenever I've wanted to find one. But it just makes me mad reading these posts and seeing these pictures.

Carnival should have somebody routinely remove towels that are left unattended. If you are not in the chair you are not using it and/or don't need it. If you are swimming or grabbing a bite or grabbing a drink you are not using the chair and don't need it.

You might think, "Well I will need it when I'm out and I don't want to wait forever to find one!" but if you -really- think about it.. If they had somebody always removing belongings from empty chairs and enforced a 'no chair saving for any reason' policy there would almost always be empty chairs for you to sit at. I highly doubt every chair will always have somebody in it.

I think a chair being empty for 5 minutes is too long if there are other people who are looking to find a chair to relax in.

Just asking..... what do you expect people to do with their camera, suntan lotion, bag, towel and book when they jump in the pool? Not everyone is "Hogging chairs", but are indeed actually using them while at the pool. I for one have on occasion spent more than 5 minutes n the pool at a time.
