Please feel free to copy and paste the list, and add updates or corrections directly to it.

Free shuttle buses are generally offered when:

The ship is docked a long walk from the main thoroughfare

Taxis and or public transportation are not easily accessible from the port. .

The port is industrial and not pedestrian-friendly.

The decision on whether free buses will be offered will be based on the port used and will be made closer to or during the sailing

Once on board, a list of ports that will offer a complimentary shuttle into town will be provided / shown in daily Currents

Local buses & cab stand nearby but not much open/few people around. I took cab to train, train to Santiago, walked back to shuttle, shuttle to ship.

Quebec City - Insignia offered a shuttle from the dock into town.  I think it depends on where you are docked though.  Our dock in the commercial port area was two km away from the city center.  The huge Jewel of the Sea was docked just below the city center.

I'd add that to the list.  I think that's a relatively new docking location for Ketchikan (for probably all ships).  When we were there before, on Oceania, we docked right in town and I'm pretty sure I just walked off the ship to go explore.  Oh well, those days are probably over.

Yes, the pier did appear to be new.  The pier was very nice, not so the building which I think was actually a warehouse/factory.  There was a railroad siding inside the building.

 

Another pax told me that NCLH had built the pier, and all 3 of its NCLH brand ships (O, NCL & Regent) dock there.  Not so nice to be so far out of town, especially for Regent pax, who pay luxury fares.

Just back from Riviera in Sept.  A few additions :

 

Kalundborg, Denmark : free shuttle to town at Torvet

Zeebrugge (for Bruges),  Belgium : in addition to the port shuttle that takes you to gate, Oceania also offers free shuttle to Blankenberge train station. Uber to Bruges old town cost around €50

Tilbury (for London), UK : free shuttle to Lakeside Shopping Centre. Bolt (cheaper than Uber) normal fare to London Oxford St. cost around £30-40

Is there a shuttle in Saigon HCMC?

For Saigon/HCMC yes there was a shuttle for us 2023 Feb on Nautica. Shuttle ran to the Union Square shopping mall near to the Opera House in the center of town. Union Square is also about to be the new home to a Mandarin Oriental Hotel, includes Hermes, Tiffany etc boutiques so not exactly the US suburban teenage hangout mall lol. The HoHo bus start/end with sidewalk-based ticket people is just down the street (directly across from the Opera House).

 

There were bus company minders at the site at most times to help coordinate. We ended up taking the shuttle in 3 times (there on parts of 3 days) but took HoHo around a few times and got off nearish the port one day, took shuttle back one day, and found our way back on foot the third day.

 

Not sure what ship you'll be on - Nautica and I assume all R ships come up the river and dock close in to town. I assume that Marina, Riviera and Vista might be downriver in/near the sea but I don't actually know that. According to Google, we docked at/very near 10°46'02.8"N 106°42'28.4"E

Thank you very much for that, as we'll be there on Riviera in February.  I was hoping for a shuttle to the area near the Opera House.  I don't know where we'll dock, as we're on a larger ship than you were, but one person on a Roll Call for a call after ours on Riviera, plus a well-known vendor in HCMC have said things that indicate it might be where a smaller O ship docked earlier this year (Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District of HCMC)..  I'm not sure if that was Nautica, but in any case, I'm hopeful that we won't be way out like the ships even larger than O's seem to be assigned.

I was curious if you remember about how much time it took for the shuttle to reach the drop point - half hour?  45 minutes?

Thank you very much for that, as we'll be there on Riviera in February.  I was hoping for a shuttle to the area near the Opera House.  I don't know where we'll dock, as we're on a larger ship than you were, but one person on a Roll Call for a call after ours on Riviera, plus a well-known vendor in HCMC have said things that indicate it might be where a smaller O ship docked earlier this year (Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District of HCMC)..  I'm not sure if that was Nautica, but in any case, I'm hopeful that we won't be way out like the ships even larger than O's seem to be assigned.

Oh never mind that last question about the time.  If we'll be at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park on Riviera as some people anticipate, it's a bit south of where you were. But at least it's not way down where the river and sea come together.  Google says it's a 32 minute drive to the Opera House.  But thanks again for shuttle and HoHo information.

Bodrum Turkey.   City provides shuttle from port to the Bodrum Marina (castle) which is where the majority of the shops are.   You can also walk there for about 20 mins.   We walked back, passing through stores, restaurants, beaches, very easily done, paved road.

You can walk just about everywhere.  Ship docks in town and there are shuttle boats (you pay a couple of EUR) over to the main part of town.  If you are going up to the "rock" - where the Palace is and where the Oceanographic museum is - you can take a bus.

Does anyone know if there is a shuttle in Ishigaki or do we dock so close to the centre that there's no need for one? Visiting on Regetta October 2024. There's a very interesting article about it in the Cunarder magazine and I'm thinking we won't need a tour here.

Dear "T":

We were in Nha Trang on Insignia in June 2023.  The dock is close to town and there was as a free shuttle from Oceania.  We took a taxi from the port to the Po Nagar Tower and Temple Complex.  It was a  wonderful experience with several artisans on site and quite areas for contemplation as well as the Temples..  We then took a taxi to the National Public Market and walked along a very attractive beach promenade in downtown. The people were friendly, and everyone was happy to accept U.S. dollars including for admissions at Po Nagar.  It was a very enjoyable half day.  It was very hot!

Victoria, B.C. Canada -- No O Shuttle.

 

There was a shuttle bus available to center, C$8. pp. Not sure if it was one way or R/T.

 

Was disappointed, because I  thought O should have arranged for its pax to use that shuttle by either chartering or providing vouchers, especially since O advertises shuttles in many ports.

 

Was a most pleasant day, and we enjoyed the approximately 30 minute walk back to ship, through neighborhoods. 

 

Would recommend the Empress Hotel Tea shorex, really exquisite, which included a guided coach tour around city, prior to hotel drop-off.  One could take coach back to ship if desired.

Anyone know if O provides a shuttle in Limassol. Cyprus and Bozcaada,,Turkey?  Thank you!

Bozcaada is a small place.  As I noted on the list of ports/cities above (post # 728?),no shuttle is needed in Bozcaada.  (The idea behind this post long ago was to report what people experienced, not ask about specific ports.)  So if your cruise goes to other places in Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, etc. you may find answers for other places. (But I just looked, and Limmasol isn't one of them!)  Bozcaada is a small place with cute, small living area but no cruise dock, so you'll tender there.  But I forget what place we were tendered to...maybe near a fort?

 

As for Limassol (did I answer YOU on a FB post, or someone else?!) I don't know about shuttles.  Our itinerary called for Paphos, which has ancient ruins, beaches, etc.

We will have 2 days in Saigon/HCMC on the Riviera starting 2/18/24 and 2 days in Saigon/HCMC on the Riviera starting 4/25/24.  (We fly home between for a month.)   

Where will we dock?

Will there be an Oceania shuttle from the dock to the city?
