Again Radio, thank you so much for all the time you spend posting to us so we can live vicariously thru you. Just want you to know it was 89 today in Charleston, so it should be a beautiful day for you tomorrow.

I haven't tried VIA yet as I thought it had sugar in it. Do they make it with just coffee and no sweeteners?

I hope you had a fun evening with the captain!!!!

Thanks again!

Hi Meg!!!!!! :D

HI! yes the VIA normal coffees (as in COFFEE flavor as opposed to flavors) are just coffee...like the Blond roasts, italian, colombian..etc. the vanilla, carmel, mocha ones are a little sweet....but the plain coffee ones are just straight!!

YUM

(yes, i drink too much coffee....and well, some of us don't leave home without some VIAs.....

Thanks Radio for a great start to your Live thread once again. How is it compared to royal? We have yet to go on a royal ship without a promenade...I know I know...need to expand our horizons....but what are your thoughts so far on their centrum area?

Dee is so curious about the ilounge too...

thanks again.

Nice Pictures Radio,

It takes me back to our cruise on her in January the Hideaway is lovely... part on the 8th deck as well, the coffee in there is not too bad, they have half and half not powder creamer.

The Lawn grill is for anyone who is on board, but there is a $40/pp charge for someone who asked, and the alcoves are 149./99. pp/ per day, we asked and decided not for us a party or 8 because only 6 are allowed in each one. :(

There was no one on deck when we sailed as it was dark by 5 and pretty cold but isn't going under that bridge so neat???;)

Have a great cruise!!

Well, the Hideaway lounge is new to me! Image my surprise to see it's right outside my room for the Fall/Winter TA I have booked! Thanks for that! Is the coffee any good or did you just use hot water for your blond Starbuck's Via ?? Any milk or cream available there or just the "powdered stuff"?

I bring along my Via packs as well.....mainly becuase i find the coffee on X undrinkable anywhere except for the Cafe or in Michael's Club - the specialty coffee drinks.....!!

Have you been there long enough to figure out what hours the Hideaway Lounge is open?

Thanks for your LIVE report!

The Hideaway "Lounge" is an open area with no doors and always open, two levels of unusual seating. There is a self service coffee station. I don't drink coffee so can tell you nothing else.

Radio or anyone who knows: Is there a "cover charge" for The Porch for Breakfast and Lunch and if so how much is it??

Thanks,

Last December, I believe the cover was $5. The food service closes in the mid afternoon but the area stays open for sitting and water-watching. And there was usually a 5 PM trivia contest.

Hello everyone, good morning and Welcome to Day 3 of “LIVE” from Celebrity Silhouette.

I was able to make it to the Captains Reception, and the Broadway Nights show. I even made it up to the Elite nightly event in the Sky Lounge. I was surprise to here a couple at the Bar complaining because the drinks they wanted were not being served. The Waiter politely advised them that it could be served, but there would be a charge as it is not included for the event. . .The passengers were not happy. . .please. . .

The comments I have heard about the Captain are accurate. . .He is very funny, and I like the way he mixes his humor with serious facts. He introduced his staff at the Reception, and all of the Officers appeared to be very happy that they are assigned to sail on Celebrity Silhouette.

I woke up a little early this morning. . .I can’t think of a reason why, but I seem to see things that I have not seen so far as I wonder around with a coffee in my hand.

I can imagine that this might happen every morning on this ship. I try to photograph everything (except food), but sometimes the lighting is not right, and image is not as clear as I would like it. . .so it never makes it on the thread. (Sometimes my eyes are a little blurry and stuff makes it here that shouldn’t)

It look like it will be another sunny day. . .It feels much warmer today at this time than yesterday. The GPS shows we are getting closer, but we still have 2 days at seas before we arrive at our first port.

Here are a few pics from last night and this morning (early)

Thanks for tuning in. . .

take a few shots of the casino while it's closed Mark? i know you said the machines were up to date. From what i've seen so far I think I might like the Silouette as much as the JOS.... this itinery is fantastic.. almost worth taking the Amtrak down from Boston to do! Thanks and thoroughly enjoying the cruise and your pics!

Top of the morning Radio....the winning lottery ticket was sold in your home state.:p

I really like that little table next to that giant wine machine.......i think that will be mine!

Thanks for the Elite drink menu...WOW...there are a LOT of different things to try....and people were complaining...go figure..:D. Wonder what they wanted...on Summit they said they'd make things like gin & tonic, vodka & cranberry as well....just basic, single liquor drinks....i think...haven't had coffee yet..

Actually, I intended to work my way through them all, but the server was so nice, every day she had my Kir set up on my favorite table for me....so I must book another cruise

Such a beautiful ship....can't wait for more later!!

Have a great day!

Thanks so much for the updates and great pics. The captain is great, isn't he? We had him on our trip to South America on the Infinityna few years back

We are on the next sailing. Any way you can find out if he will be on board?

Thanks for these great pics and reviews but also have a great cruise

One of the winning lottery tickets was sold in Baltimore

Great job Radio, keep it up.

We've been on S class ships 4 times, once on Solstice, twice on Equinox and most recently on Silhouette this past November. I can tell you that Celebrity has been struggling with the upkeep of the grass since the inception of this class. Many times a lot of areas are closed off. In March of 2011 on the Equinox they replaced half of the turf with new sod they picked up in Ft. L. When we docked upon our return to Ft L I saw the rolls of sod to replace the other half waiting to be hoisted up (they used a crane).

We love the area up top and the turf etc. I think that Celebrity did not expect the upkeep to be so expensive but glad it is there. The whole area inclluding the Sunset Bar is one of the best places we've ever found on cruise ships.

Thanks for doing this "live" for us all to cruise along with you. These have to be the most beautiful ships to date. We were going to book another RCCL but I am now looking at Celebrity instead.

The only thing I didn't like is that the solarium doesn't open up. I liked to be in there but like to get a little fresh air and sun.

In 12 nights on the Silly we never saw anyone eating in the Porch.

Meg, it 's real grass but winter takes it's toll on it. The grass was very nice in Nov when we were on her. It was covered with plastic the first day or so and then they covered it again on the way back to NJ. I was wondering how it was going to hold up in our weather.

Thank you for the wonderful photos and tips. We leave on the TA in a few weeks and look forward to cruising on this beautiful ship. I have a question regarding quiet places to read and wonder if you come across any, would you please pass that information on to us? We had a hard time finding such a location onboard the Century a few years ago, and hope to locate some comfortable chairs in 'off the beaten path' on the Silhouette.

Hi Radio, Just peeking in to say "Heyyyy." Also, to let you know, its a dark and dreary day here, and misty-rainy...and Im going to be thinking about what a beautiful day you're having on board Silhouette and I'll be looking in at your pictures! CruiseDivaNJ :);)

For those asking about quiet places to read, my indoor vote is for the Hideaway!
