I am so going to enjoy this week following along with you. Will be on her for the first time in a few weeks, and anxious to see your pics and read your posts. Makes me so much more excited to be sailing soon. It's like reading a great book that you just can't put down until the last page is turned.

Thanks so much for including us on your trip :D

Several Crew members I spoke to said that several passengers came down with the Norovirus last week, and the ship had to be cleaned from head to toe. The ship looks wonderful, and it is very, very clean. . . There are crew members that will serve your coffee, get your drinks etc. . .I am liking this !

Just returned from EOS. My stateroom attendant told me that there were many in cabins on deck 3 who were sick during the December 29th sailing. Captain Gus made mention of the noro-virus onboard and promoted proper hand washing in his daily noon updates and the greeters at the dining venues asked everyone to use the hand sanitizers upon entry.

We had an early wake-up announcement broadcast over the intercom and in our cabins at 6:20 AM one morning....Captain Gus announced that there was report of a fire on board and it was being checked out. I think I bolted out of bed and dressed faster than I have ever done on a cruise before!

Folks out on deck at the time reported that there was a large amount of smoke coming from the aft section and that the ship was going in circles right before the announcment. The fire crews dispersed at top speed through the pool deck and along the outside open areas on deck 5. Within 15-20 minutes, the captain made 3-4 update statements on the intercom, so it was nice to be informed. Finally, he announced that all was okay and that the fire teams could stand down. Nothing like a little excitement to jump start the day!

Radio, can I get my Starbucks fix on board. Also I just booked a large inside aft cabin 7671, the Spotlight lounge is below, do you think I made a mistake booking this cabin. Would appreciate your view on this. Thank you and have a fantastic cruise.

radio, will be boarding when you disembark....sailed on eos last two winters....thought about not looking at the "new" eos pictures, and then came to the outside screen by the pool. Oh yeah....football on the big screen !!!! and yes, i gotta see the improvements before hand.

Have not had any issues in the past with bringing water and sodas onboard in carry on, however, heard that they have cracked down on this at baltimore. did you notice any issues at embarcation ??

have a great time

Many thanks Radio I am so looking forward to your posts here! We board 2/4 as we jumped ship this year from the Explorer due to the 12 nighter on the Enchantment. Our first time out of Baltimore even though Bayonne is only 45 mins. from home. We always have brought bottled water and my Caffiene Free cokes. Wondering now if this will not be allowed for the Enchantment or hopefully they will now supply some caffiene free Coke/soda and not just Sprite.

Wishing you the best cruise ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I luv, luv, luv a Radio Live Review . . . and this one will be extra exciting for me as I will be on Enchantment for the first time in March. In fact, I have never been on a Vision class ship nor have I sailed from Baltimore. I will definately be tuned in. :) Can't wait!!

I looked on marine traffic and it looks like they are doing 19.8 knots as of 2 mins ago and still in the chesapeake bay

Does anyone know why enchantment is still in the inlet of the harbor instead of cruising out to sea? She is still very close to land when I look at the map on NYharborwebcam.com??

It takes a few hours to sail out of the Bay... They may have sailed later due to the deep cleaning for NORO.

Hello everyone. . .We left Cruise Maryland promptly at 4PM. After all the talk about late debarkation and extensive sanitization I thought we may be leaving later.

We left on time though and we should be able to be at the Pilot Station in Cape Henry where the pilot leaves Enchantment, and we will be in open water. There was no sail away party out on the decks, but I didn’t think there would be as after all. . .it is January. There was a sail away celebration in the Centrum on decks 4/5 with the Cruise Director (Luke Aerowsmith) and DJ Lucian.

I had a great meal at Chops tonight, and I was able to catch a little of the Welcome Aboard show in the Orpheum Theater. After this post, I may head down to Casino Royale on Deck 5 just to see if there are any machines that are calling my name. . .

After that I may hit the racks, as today has been kind of a long day, and I guess that usually works out that way on the first day of any cruise. Hmmm. . .I could get another Starbucks Americano. . .that should keep me awake a little longer.

Tomorrow will be a sunny day at sea for us, as we will spend the whole day heading south in the Atlantic Ocean. I am sure there will be plenty of activities (mostly inside) and I have our Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle to look forward to at 10 AM.

We are currently moving pretty quickly south down the Chesapeake Bay at about 21.6kts. We have to keep a good speed as we still have 1298nm until we get to San Juan, PR. It is very cold out tonight (36F) but the wind is not too bad.

Here are a few pics from Sail away . . .more pics tomorrow !

Thanks for tuning in !

Are you happy with the upgrades? Were they clearly noticeable when you boarded the ship?

Hope you have a great cruise, Radio!

Will, Radio will be posting lots of photos, but if you need instant gratification, both I and others have put a lot of pictures of the renovations here.

Hello everyone and good morning. Welcome to Day 2 of “LIVE” from Enchantment of the Seas.

The post that I made last night was ready for posting at 9 PM; however, I could not connect at all through the pervasive WiFi that was recently installed on Enchantment of the Seas. I was unable to connect with my 4G mobile hotspot and the Royal WiFi signal. The only thing I have to say about that is “@#$%&”

I was finally able to connect and make my post around midnight when we were near Norfolk using my 4G mobile hotspot. I was a little angry that the newly installed pervasive WiFi was not “Radio friendly” ; however, the plus side is I am now posting to you live from the comfort of my cabin with a blazing fast internet speed. By “blazing internet speed” I don’t mean the wireless high speed internet you are used to at home, but for ships’ standards, an 800-900 kbps speed is very fast.

One of the things that I noticed when I boarded the ship was that many of the cabins have received upgrades. I will try to see as many cabins as I can; however, D2 balcony cabins have received the following:

New draperies

New 27 inch flat screen Tvs

New carpet

New coffee tables

New desk chairs

New cabin artwork

The biggest change would be that the bathrooms have been completely redone from floor to ceiling: new wall coverings, floors, shower, shower fixtures, cabinetry, toilet and sinks. It kind of seems like they used the format and color schemes of the Oasis class and Solstice Class ships, and conformed them into the Vision class bathrooms.

I have taken many photos of the cabin, and will be posting them throughout the week.

I woke up this morning very early (4 AM) and walked around the ship in search of coffee. I went directly to the Concierge Lounge where I was able to enjoy a delicious café Americano. For some reason my room key allows me entrance to the Concierge Lounge but not the Diamond Lounge. The cleaning crew was there at 4:30 AM and allowed me access so I could take a few photos.

We are currently in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Cape Hatteras and still have 1128nm to go until we reach our first port, San Juan PR.

The Park Café opens at 6:30 so it is time for me to go up and enjoy a light breakfast on Deck 9. Here are some photos from last night and this morning. Many more pics later.

Thanks for tuning in. . .
