I would pay to see about half of the artists listed. But I would not book a particular cruise just because of the concert.

Seems to be the older ships. Maybe trying to make them more competitive.

I applaud carnival for trying to make some entertainment improvements. However, I think Broadway Shows onboard at no charge would have been better received.

I wouldn't say no, not under any circumstances........but the idea doesn't really appeal to me....I'm just not a concert kind of person. In fact I rarely go to any of the entertainment on the ships in the past few years.

I disagree. Carnival has worn out the Broadway shows concept. I think they are on the right track by focusing on music; however, the artists being offered don't appeal to me for the most part. I also don't like the fact that since the ships will be staying in port until 1 AM that much of the ship will be shut down. That means the casino and shops will be closed that night. I will likely avoid these cruises for that very reason. Yawn.

I like the fact that they are also changing their free live music offerings along with the for-a-fee concerts.

With what looks like a list of has-beens, one-hit-wonders, and D-list acts; I'm not interested....right now....however if someone more appealing to see is added I would "consider" it.

That being said...if I want to see an artist on a ship then I would consider looking at other offerings coming from Sixthman such as the KISS Kruise!!

I'm not a concert goer either, but I do applaud Carnival for coming up with a new idea, even if some people don't like it.

Modern cruising (and traveling in general) is about unbundling choices. Instead of charging everybody more for things that you may or many not care for, you pay for a basic product and then you pay extra to enhance that experience. Some people are OK with just the basic product. But for those that want more and don't mind paying extra, there's the steakhouse and other alternative dining venues, there are ship sponsored shore excursions, there's the spa, there are fitness classes, there are bars where you can purchase drinks, and there's a casino where you can gamble your money away. You can even upgrade your basic inside stateroom to one with a window, a balcony or more space by paying extra.

Long gone are the days of paying one price and having everything included (well, they are still here, but you'll need to sail on an ultra-luxury cruise line which, lets face it, the average Carnival cruiser can't afford).

Yes, Carnival is a budget cruise line and I don't pretend that they are something that they are not. But for a budget product, I think that they are doing a great job giving people options.

WOW, hadn't thought about the fact that since the ship will stay in port on the "Concert Evenings", everything else will be pretty much shut down. That will effectively KILL one evening of the cruise, unless you spend the extra bucks to see that concert. BUMMER!

Wouldn't pay over $20 per ticket on any of the current artists.

Even though I don't really care for any of the entertainers in the current lineup, I would pay $20 to enjoy an evening at a concert before I pay $50 to board the ship early which I think ts the most absurd idea, yet some people think that FTTF is the best thing since sliced bread.

Once again, it's all about having choices! Some people will choose to spend their money at a concert, others will spend it on FTTF, others will go to the steakhouse, etc, etc. Some will do it all, some will do nothing. But they are all enjoying their vacation they way that THEY CHOOSE to enjoy it.

Considering you can see all these washed up acts at a State Fair for like ten bucks, this seems kinda dumb to me.

I've seen this kind of comparison a hundred times since yesterday, and I just don't get the logic.

Here's how I see it:

1. You book a cruise

a) on your cruise, aside from all the regular offerings, there is also a featured concert by a well-known* act, to which you can purchase tickets.

b) on your cruise, there are all of the usual offerings only.

How can anyone possible tell me that b is better than a?

Again, if you don't like the artists, and don't like the price, then don't buy a ticket.

It's highly unlikely that I would book a cruise that has one of these live acts scheduled. My favorite entertainment on a ship is the casino, so to have it closed one evening would be a real bummer.

Sounds like we are being held hostage. Casino and all shops closed just for some outdated singers and their mauls.

Yes it is sorta messed up that the casino will be closed. Hadn't thought about that for all the gamblers. But I disagree that these singers are outdated. Good music lasts forever. And I poked around the internet yesterday....most of these groups/individuals have plenty of tour dates and venues for 2014. Also, the last time I was in Nassau we left @ 1:00am. Leaving ports late like this is not unusual.

Ive seen half those acts in the 80's for cheap with a bunch of other bands on the same bill.

Now they play county fairs or Indian casino venues.

I don't like paying extra for entertainment that use to be free on Carnival

We don't even go to concerts on land and we have no desire to go to one on the ocean. We enjoyed the bands on the Lido deck and that was good enough for us. We also like the piano players or whatever groups they have here and there and they are FREE. I know Carnival is trying to muster up revenue, but what's next--charging us extra to board the ship? Oh wait they've already done that and beyond like FTTF.

We have about 6 Indian casinos within driving distance here, we don't even go into them to gamble and only 1 has decent food. It doesn't take much to entertain us, just give us a decent meal and a place to eat and we're good.
