Poll Are we too old for the Disco??

Just off the breeze and we are still having a discussion regarding the disco.

 

The Disco when it first opens up is pretty empty and that is between 9 and 10pm.Less than a dozen people.

 

They play regular modern songs in disco format for a short time about 30 minutes to an hour then it turns into tecno boomp boomp at which time we leave. About this time the disco becomes more crowded with the 18-30 age range.

 

So the question is....is 50yrs old too old to be in the disco for the first hour?

its not too old to stay for the whole thing if you wanted to. that's ridiculous. Disco started in the mid 70's so if you were 18 in 1975, you are 57 now. The music changed but go and enjoy yourself and have fun. dont hold back.

On our full charter Jazz cruises the disco is packed every night...lots of fun

I say stay as long as you like. Who cares how old you are? I couldn't handle the loud booming music of today but as long as they were playing true disco music I would like it. :)

LOL...I learned 2 things at my nephew's wedding dance at 53 last summer....Washington state.... Due to summer and long drive and lots of family to do's and a 5 day deal...was very tired..but went for the first hour of dancing..where I was told I did have "moves like Jagger..LMAO" and sweet kids were honestly sad I was gone when I could safely walk to hotel at 11. But..i don't do the jumping techno moves..LOL..I don't know those.and need weight loss for that (need it formore than that..I am on it, have to admit to me in public)..lol.

 

On my last Carnival cruise..51..I loved the one hour Jackson music in disco and all ages did and it was so fun to look up to next level..and see the Cruise director checking in on us and smiling at all ages out there..partner or not..just dressed regularly. Spirit..2012 Easter cruise.

 

You never think you will be midddle aged and then you are..it is so darn bizzare..I would love dancing classes for all music and be able to find my 40's-to '90's places on a ship to dance..sleep all day and dance all night a couple of days...sigh..NEVER too old to dance..always should put a few songs in for older people if in there..most kids should appreciate..even one song an hr for the 20's-30's group to sit through so older youngsters can dance in disco...if there with their kids..in Montana..dancing with whole family was big growing up...often western and western rock...Sarah

Age does not exist on vacation except for minors. Outside of vacation, you are only as old as the restrictions you place on yourself.

I am in my 40s. If I like the music being played I stay. If I don't I leave. Who cares about the ages of the people there if I am having fun?

 

If they played big band music am I supposed to leave just because it is before my time? No way!

I'm 50 DW two years younger and were always in the Disco's ...the past five vacation we always seem to have females traveling together that are in their early 20's hanging around us on the ship and we always end up in the clubs.....were always in the disco to late with them.......not going to vote sorry.....

I am 57 and sometimes I'm in the club until 2 -3 in the morning and then in the pizza line on the Lido deck before passing out in my cabin! Hubby is usually in bed around 9:00.

I'm cruising next week with the college kids during spring break! I bet you'll find me smack in the middle of that party!:D

Just got off the Sensation today, rounding out a back-to-back during spring break season. What a last. We didn't go to the club one night because we were just exhausted. Burning both ends of the candle caught up with us. My cousin and I are females in our 50s. We hung with the kids every night. It was like we were famous. Kids new our names. My cousin just likes the music, butt I had a good time dancing with the college boys and girls. There's a new breed that doesn't care if people think they are gay, so the guys don't sit on the sidelines. They get in there with their buddies and mix it up until they find a girl to dance with. I spent hours people watching and was charmed by the open and approach to courtship that was lacking in my era. I suspect male self control has increased exponentially over the years if what I saw is any indication.

Not only is it fine to be in the club for the first hour, it's fine to stay until they close if you so desire.

There's never a set age to say someone is to old for the disco/nightclub, especially on a cruise. You'll ca see two to four generations enjoying time together, which may not be possible expect for family functions, such a weddings. Most of the cruises I have been on there have been couples or singles in their 80's (yes they are proud of their age), that go to the disco. Most of the times these are folks that line dance or hang out having fun with others their age when at home. I enjoy watching the those older than me dance, and have a good time, and it allows me to look forward to in future years.

I once saw a 90 year old granny working the dance floor. As long as you're having fun, it doesn't matter how old you are! :)

On our last cruise...my early 20s kids wanted us in the disco every night!! 'Bout killed us but we danced all night!! We never even went 'til about 11pm. Was fairly empty till then!!

 

Seriously.......age is only a number!! You most likely will never see any of the cruisers again.....so dance your heart away!!! And even if you do see them again......who cares?????

I'm 59 years old and hang out in the night club all night long. Big fan of Top 40 and hip hop music, and just sit there and sing along if I'm not dancing. I can Wobble, Wop, Cupid Shuffle, and Gas Pedal with the best of them.

 

I say do what ever makes you enjoy your vacation.

I'm 35, and I LOVE to dance, and have no plans to ever stop. I absolutely love the answers in this thread, made me smile! :) I l love when people can come together and have a great time, no matter age or anything else!

No not at all. My last cruise was with my Dad who is 58 and he closed the disco down every night. He had a great time!

Cruising is the only time I see the best mix of ages in the club. Usually, my experience is that the first hour the club is open is usually dead. The late theater show is still going, and Carnival usually has a comedian going till midnight. Once that is done, people who aren't ready for bed, can go to the bars, the casino, Karaoke or the club.

I'm in my my mid 40's and could care less what people think of me! I do what I want to do. Not just on cruises but anytime. (must be something about hitting the 40's that you just don't care what people think anymore, lol) That said, I've yet to go dancing without my dh. No one really "dances" anymore. Sad, but true. Even the high schools in our area no longer have "dances." They only have a prom.:confused::confused: But on a cruise??? The mood hits, you bet I'll be dancing!
