..Have you already booked this directly with Carnival? Don't want to prick your balloon, but.... never heard of Carnival "Elite" status, or Carnival giving a free shore excursion, a private lunch or "sundowner cocktails." Just sounds like it's through a third party. If you were successful booking this with Carnival, Congrats! Enjoy your cruise!

I got it too. It was sent via email directly from the Carnival Player's club. I called the main Carnival number to verify it was legitimate before I booked it. Once it was booked, it show up under manage my cruise. I also will be aboard the 10/4 Sunshine and I can hardly wait!

Yep....Not understanding how so many people out there are raking in the free cruises and some of us get nada...and according to all these people's posts. hubby and I fit all the bill...casino players on all our cruises, don't cruise all the time, have the VIFP #, you name it.....sometimes I even wonder if all of these "free" and "sharply reduced" cruises really exist or if we have people posting them to just see how many people will react.....as for me I react every time, and have decided to not open any more of these type of posts.....LOL

Well I've got 24 Carnival cruises under my belt and 2 more booked this year. I've been a loyal customer since the 1990's. I spend my fair share in the casino every cruise. I wonder how much more I have to do or spend to be special in Carnival's eyes?

Lol. This feels like acid on an already open wound.

I hope you have a wonderful time on your 17th Carnival cruise. ;-)

I also received the email and yes I booked the Sunshine in October, one of the senior executive casino hosts are supposed to call us in the next week or so. And yes it shows up in my cruise manager. they are picking 30 people for each cruise. Guess its the luck of the draw.

I am happy for those that get the free cruise offer. (this one or others that have posted earlier) However, I wonder if Carnival knows or even care if there are so many of us that feel slighted. First Carnival cruise in September of 2011 and we will make platinum in January of 2016 unless we book more cruises between now and then. That is 75 days in less than 4 years 4 months. We always book excursion through Carnival, eat in the steak house, purchase goods in the fun shops and I am at the Casino every night. Yes I do get the casino offers but not the really good ones. Thanks for letting me vent, pass the popcorn and happy cruising.

We have 3 Carnival cruises done.

We do play in the casino.

Enough last time to finally get the Drinks on Us Card.

Did not get the "first" free offer as of late but did get the extremely inexpensive email offer a couple days ago....booked it too :D

Now this Elite offer is out and about.

Hmmmmm....at this point I am more concerned that Carnival could be having a hard time filling cabins!

That would be the 3-4 thing this week to say the economy is having some more issues.

It does seem to be random by all reports.

Generous offers........hmmmmm.................

Got the offer two days after I had already booked the Breeze in November and the Freedom in August.

Kinda the same luck I have in the casino! I did get the Premier on the Breeze and the Pack and Play on the Freedom so no complaints.

Does anyone know if the complimentary car service (pickup and dropoff) is included for the Freedom cruise in Fort Lauderdale, as the offer only states Miami Intl. airport? Also, the Premier offers always stated free drinks while playing in the casino and this offer states complimentary drinks. Does anyone know if that means you are getting the Cheers program?

Another case of people getting free cruises? I'll start the popcorn!

If it is Carnival Player's Club....NOT FREE. They paid for every dime of it...And I can see Carnival's casino staff rewarding them lavishly. They earned it. They paid for it. Happy sails to all of you. Get Big Jackpots. Have a great time.

I also got the offer & ordinarily would jump on it...but I don't like flying to pick up a ship :(....and of the 8 cruises offered, there's only 1 Splendor from NY, and it's 10/16...but I have cruises booked for 10/5 (7-day Pride) and 10/27 (11-day Gem)...so, darn it :(, I can't fit another one in between. Arrrgh lol. I hope they do this again for summer 2015!

If you played enough to get free drinks, they are not losing money on you. Enjoy your cruise. Win big. Next time.......you will probably get a bigger offer. And it is not :"free" It is good business to have folks who enjoy gambling a lot on their cruises. Happy Sails.

We get the not so good ones too....but still, they are something. They are less than even regular Pack and GO and a little OBC. And we did get a big discount on our cabin. it was an upsell and they do that to everyone at one time or another. I coughed up the money and now we are on the Empress Deck in a great cabin. I have decided. Carnival has three ports very close to my home. Easy morning's drive. I like Carnival. It is usually some cheaper, but not so much when you are Past Guests on other cruise lines. It is very clean. I finally have a PVP that I like a lot. So............I am staying. The free cruises irritate me no end. But I am just going to live with it until Carnival gets New management and starts building the morale of passengers and crews again. That said.................I feel your pain. But.......unless Celebrity ( October) knocks my socks off enough to drive to S.Florida ( Ugh) more than once a year, I am sticking with Carnival. Waiting it out. New Management has to be coming soon. Has to be. The New American Table irks me too. Appetizers are gone. They were the best part of the Meal. Cold fruit soups gone. I loved them. Where I grew up...Only backwoods people ate Frog's legs. And we lived on the edge of the woods..so we were much more sophisticated. And Gators. UGH. And I sent my daughter to the U.of Florida for four years. They have most of my money, so I cheer for them. But to eat fried Gator? Makes shiver to think of it. Those are the most vicious creatures of earth. Bad Karma to eat that meanness. AND don't swim in ANY Florida Fresh water lakes. For real.those monsters can RUN fast on land. Eat your cat. Your dog. YOU.

If I didn't frequent Cruise Critic, I would've never known that these free cruises even existed. So I'm guessing that the vast majority of Carnival cruisers don't have a clue that this is going on, and consequently, it's only a very minuscule number of people that are feeling the sting.

I have many coworkers who are rabidly loyal Carnival cruisers and they have never heard of Cruise Critic.

I have been cruising with Carnival for a long time, and never ever got a free offer, till now.

I too am booked on the Elite invitation on the Sunshine Oct 4th. So excited.

For those who say they have never heard of Elite, it is a step higher than premier offer, according to the person I booked it with.

Never say never, it can happen

:)

The casino where I worked gave away 'free' things to top players all the time. They flew their top player on a 'free' trip to Vegas when the company acquired the M Resort there. And yes, they gave away 14 'free' cruises to the VIPs last year. So glad that I do not qualify for these 'free' promos :p

I "hear" you....I guess if you have to "lose" alot of $$$ to them in order to be given a "Freebie", it's not really FREE! However, this Elite Freebie is NOT the only kind of FREE cruise CCL has been giving out....we know many folks who have received "THE" letter in the mail for FREE cruises who do not gamble nor spend alot of $$ on board (and we are NOT one of them unfortunately).
