Putting money on sail and sign card before cruise

For budgeting purposes, I want to go ahead and put money on our account for the Cheers package and other items. If I put extra down can I withdraw it at any time on the ship?

For example, we are going to Mr. Sanchos. Can I go ahead and put the money needed for this on my account now and just withdraw it the day we are in Cozumel?

I don't like carrying a lot of cash around and thought this might be a good solution.

If I purchase cruise cash I don't think I can withdraw it. I want to be able to take money out for our port days.

I would put the money in a coffee tin and forget about it! Why complicate things? Unless you are getting a discount of some sort ( like buying a gift certificate through a credit card reward that gives you a 10 percent off ) it is an exercise in futility to give Carnival your money and get the exact same amount back later.

Well Said...Same Here!

OP, you use to be able to give yourself obc...Carnival no longer allows that. You have to buy Cruise Cash or a Gift Card. No, you can't get cash from your S & S account, you can draw out cash at the casino though. BTW, Cruise Cash is nonrefundable, meaning if you don't spend it all or don't draw it out in the casino, Carnival keeps it.

The last time I tried to get on the ship and airplane with a coffee can full of money it was a big hassle. Authorities were called in, other bags checked, delays delays delays. Never again don't bother

I would do a gift card. They can be used for anything and if you don't use it all and don't want to cash out, just have the remainder put on another gift card for a later date. It's much less restrictive.

The only thing I don't like about gift cards That money could be tied up for years if I don't sail carnival. If I could use it company wide that would be great.

True, however, it beats Cruise Cash which is strictly voyage specific. Use it or lose it. Not refundable or transferable.

Yep. I was just saying why it is better IMHO to get a gift card vs Cruise Cash.

You are correct, I still wish they had the old version where you could put cash on your accout and get a check the last night.

princes and other brands still let you pre load your account. not sure why carnival stoped. I would think the little money they make with use it or lose it would be outweighed by the pissed off passangers who did not know!

I have have room 2470 for our next cruise on the Valor, I know you like these rooms We do to.

We still buy TC's and get them cashed at guest sevices. Some we have deposited directly on to our S&S and some we get turned in to cash and put in our safe. We find it extremely easy and safer than carrying cash. We always try to get large denominations to make it easier to get cashed. You can only cash $500 a day at guest services if that matters to you.

Where do you get Travelers Checks at? I have tried all over the place and no one carries them anymore. We hate carrying a lot of cash on us and were thinking about guying the gift cards since we do get a 10% discount. We need money for our tours and other cash tipping we do. How hard it is to put cash on your card in the casino then get it from the cage? Do they charge you a fee? I know if you ask for cash on your card they do. We do gamble so I am sure spending some of it won't be a problem!

We always get our cash the night before from the casino. Put how much you need in a slot then cash out and go to the cage for the cash. The problem is if you forget then the casino is closed the next morning since you are in port.
