im really glad its the closed the roof! I love the solarium on the jewel and serenade!

Well, I think it should be either closed or open. But the tiered roof on Oasis/Allure seems to make the area warm and humid with little air circulation and, of course, impossible to air condition.

And we can't forget that the Quantum class is being built with more indoor spaces for colder climates. It'll be nice sailing out of NJ in the colder months and still being able to get some sun/pool time without freezing. Hopefully there won't be the cold air blowing through open door problems there are on most ships.

From what I could tell it, it looks like the Solarium pool is much larger than the one on Oasis class.

Yeah I think they must've learned a lesson from Oasis. Good thing, it was always crowded when we went.

This solarium looks generous and lovely:D

My appetite is getting a whetting even though I swore this new class was not my thing. Getting more and more excited about maybe going north to cruise.

I thought the same thing. But that is what I originally thought about Oasis/Allure. So I have learned, that when it comes to cruise ships, to never say never!:D

The new Royal Princess also has the keep-the-card-in-the-slot method of keeping the cabin lights on. Based on what the Princess folk say, any card will do.

Lots of new builds do these days, seems like it's becoming standard. On both Carnival Breeze and Norwegian Breakaway I just used another random hotel loyalty program card and it worked both times.

Hello everyone. . .we are currently heading North towards Cape Liberty, NJ. Quantum of the Seas is scheduled to dock by 6AM tomorrow morning. We are currently traveling at 13 kts, much faster than we have sailed thus far. We have only been sailing for about 24 hours and unfortunately, I must start debarkation tomorrow morning after a couple of fresh coffees.

Today was a busy day for me as I knew I wanted to see as much as possible, but with little time to do it. I was however, able to get some images of FlowRider, RipCord by iFly, SeaPlex and many of the dining venues. My server was experiencing technical difficulties for most of the day so I was unable to post.

I really wish I was on the inaugural sailing where embarkation begins tomorrow at 11AM. I truly value the opinions that have been expressed by previous Quantum of the Seas cruisers over the last couple of weeks. It really helped me to get a feel for what I was in store for. I am hoping that I was able to provide a little insight on what you will encounter when you sail this treasured vessel.

The highlights for today included dining at Café Two70 for lunch, enjoying discussion with several Cruise Critic roll call members, being able to see Mamma Mia and dining at the American Icon Grill for dinner. I also enjoyed Casino Royale and the shops at Royal Esplanade.

I was a little concerned this afternoon when Quantum of the Seas stopped in the water off the coast of Delaware. The Captain announced that we must perform a test of the bow thrusters which were recently repaired in Bremerhaven. The bow thrusters needed to be engaged at full speed for several minutes in each direction. (Starboard and Port). The Captain made this announcement because passengers in forward cabins may be affected by vibration.

Thanks for all the very nice comments and thanks for tuning in. My next post will be tomorrow morning.

My favorite place on the Quantum to hang out and have a drink was Two 70 and my favorite and the best restaurant I think was Coastal Kitchen my 2nd best was Silk, the one I thought that would be the best and was very disappointing was The Grande:D

Love the ship and I will go on the Anthem of the Seas next:cool:

Why was the Grande a disappointment for you? The menu??

Yes the Menu, it was like getting appetizers, I am sure they will have it all sorted out after a few cruisers... the guy sitting across from me ordered 3 appetizers then 2 Entrees and Dessert:eek:

But it is a beautiful ship and I am going on the Anthem next:cool:

We enjoyed the Grande. Everything that we tried we liked. The sole, lamb, tenderloin and lobster we all enjoyed. The shrimp cocktail was 4 huge shrimp. The Grande had the best desserts. Loved the German chocolate cake with coconut ice cream, napoleon, and the chocolate molten cake with ice cream. (I didn't eat all of them we shared at the table.) The only thing it took a long time almost 2 1/2 hours. They were having problems with their tablets when we were there and had to hand write the orders and then put them into a main computer.

Hello everyone. . .Good Morning. Welcome to Day 3 of “LIVE” on Quantum of the Seas.

We arrived at the pier at 6AM, and passengers were cleared for debarkation at 6:30AM (for self assist) I grabbed a coffee, and will start to pack now. I should be in the Terminal by 7:30.

When I woke up this morning I tried to get a coffee at around 4:30, but the Windjammer and Café Promenade were closed. The concierge lounge and diamond lounge were open but had no coffee. Really?? I went to guest services and asked them where I could get some coffee at 5AM. They suggested that there was no coffee available until 6AM. Who in the ?? What in the?? For the love of?? Guest services suggested that there is normally coffee 24 hours a day, with the exception of debarkation day.

I have many more photos to post and documents to scan and I will be posting many of them later today when I arrive home. I am very happy with the service, the dining and the appearance of this new class of ship and I am looking forward to sailing with her very soon (January 2015).

Thanks for all the nice comments and thanks for tuning in.
