JezzaC Posted January 28, 2015 #354 Share Posted January 28, 2015 There was an onboard review of the Jan 11th sailing that showed most if not all the new DD menus. It's back a few pages now, but should be easy to find. They have started to roll out new menus to my understanding four or fives days ago. So they are probably now applied for the first time in the current cruise, 11th sailing had possibly still the old menus.

SandG Posted January 28, 2015 #356 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Good morning and Welcome to DAY 6 of “LIVE” from Quantum of the Seas.We have arrived early this morning to Basseterre, St Kitts. I was happy to see and old friend of mine docked at the pier (MeinSchiff1) <...> When my husband and I saw the ship next to us this morning, we remarked how much it looked like the Mercury, which we'd sailed in 2000. So I googled the Mercury today and saw that it is now the Mein Schiff 2! So the Galaxy and the Mercury remain close sisters! Even though I'm sailing with you, I'm enjoying reading your post to see how you're been spending your days. So much to see and do. --Sue (I had the reg. balcony on the cabin crawl)
dopey1956 Posted January 28, 2015 #357 Share Posted January 28, 2015 How were the bathrooms at Coki? Last time there they were awful- couldn't even go in them but that was about 5 or 6 years ago. Other than that, we love the beach and water there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/quote I really do not recall how they were. I guess we should start taking pictures of the bathrooms to remember!LOL

cruisinsforme Posted January 28, 2015 #360 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Hi. Enjoying your pictures. Do you know if they have any Martini Tastings on Quantum? This is something NCL does on their cruises and I was wondering if they had this on Quantum. Thanks.

beachbuddy Posted January 28, 2015 #362 Share Posted January 28, 2015 I have never seen photos of Coki beach. I have heard of it and am so glad you posted photos of it. I rarely go to that side of the island, but your photos have made me want to go! Wendy, you don't even have to snorkel......you can just stand there and feed the fish. I always enjoyed the water there.
Bronx12 Posted January 28, 2015 #363 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Hi ckrobyn, We sent a request to "downline" to Royal Caribbean and it was approved. I understand that there are certain guidelines for these requests to be approved. It was all for not because the ship didn't stop in Halifax because of hurricane gust winds and we ended up having to purchase flights to Boston:(
DaniDanielle Posted January 28, 2015 #364 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Yes that is correct. No cover alacarte menu. Plus no longer waiter service it is self serve. No show and one officiato of JR's also claimed shakes are 1/3 smaller, that I cannot attest too. George in NY Shakes were half the size as Oasis and Allure and served in paper cups, takes away from the fun....

Rare Radio Posted January 28, 2015 Author #366 Share Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) Hello everyone. . . I decided to get off the ship around 9 AM and I can to the decision that I would be staying in port today. I thought maybe I would hit all of the casinos and win a few dollars. First off, there was only one casino and it WAS Radio Friendly. But, I cannot get rich on penny slots! The tour operators were very aggressive with their tour offerings. Some of the tours seems like very good values. Excursions that the ship was offering for $75 could be obtained for just $20 per person. I didn’t feel like being hauled around in a safari van today, so my reply was always the same “No, thank you.” I really loved the Ma Pau casino and the Sweet Lime restaurant just upstairs. There were a lot of crew having fun at the casino and using the free WiFi upstairs. The shops seemed to have some pretty good values, but I was unable to find the one item I was looking for (a local newspaper). I was feeling under the weather after a few hours, so I decided to have a “day at sea” onboard and rest. The rest paid off, I feel wonderful right now and am looking forward to a busy day in St. Maarten tomorrow. Here are a few pics from my short time ashore. Radio I think it’s great that TUI Cruises provides Mein Schiff bicycles Welcome to Port Zante in Basseterre, St Kitts There were many passengers shopping for gift items I got a great view of my ship from Sweet Lime Grill They had great sandwiches and free WiFi Sweet Lime Grill was directly above the Ma Pau Casino (Very Radio Friendly) . Rare Radio Posted January 28, 2015 Author #367 Share Posted January 28, 2015 Here are a few more. . . Radio The cruise line recommended many stores in Port Zante After just a few hours ashore, I make my way back to my ship Pool Towel Return Mein Schiff passengers can help themselves to a cold beverage and fruit when returning to their ship The pool decks were packed when I returned back to the ship We get ready to leave and say so long to St. Kitts for now. . icannotswim Posted January 29, 2015 #368 Share Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Great pics as usual. (You spoiled us and we have come to expect great pics.) I am trying to figure out when they built the new terminal. Sailed from Bayonne November 2013 and did not notice any construction. Always hated those short bus rides, especially disembarking with luggage. Anyway I noticed that the Quantum pricing reflects the upgraded ship and terminal. I do kinda miss the Explorer. That other ship looks like something from a Transformers movie compared to the Quantum! Edited January 29, 2015 by icannotswim
smeck Posted January 29, 2015 #369 Share Posted January 29, 2015 I loved the bikes available for passengers, a great idea maybe Royal can duplicate. I would love to grab a bike and cruise around the islands.
