"LIVE" from Quantum of the Seas - Jan. 23, 2015

There was an onboard review of the Jan 11th sailing that showed most if not all the new DD menus. It's back a few pages now, but should be easy to find.

They have started to roll out new menus to my understanding four or fives days ago. So they are probably now applied for the first time in the current cruise, 11th sailing had possibly still the old menus.

Good morning and Welcome to DAY 6 of “LIVE” from Quantum of the Seas.

We have arrived early this morning to Basseterre, St Kitts. I was happy to see and old friend of mine docked at the pier (MeinSchiff1) <...>

When my husband and I saw the ship next to us this morning, we remarked how much it looked like the Mercury, which we'd sailed in 2000. So I googled the Mercury today and saw that it is now the Mein Schiff 2! So the Galaxy and the Mercury remain close sisters! Even though I'm sailing with you, I'm enjoying reading your post to see how you're been spending your days. So much to see and do. --Sue (I had the reg. balcony on the cabin crawl)

How were the bathrooms at Coki? Last time there they were awful- couldn't even go in them but that was about 5 or 6 years ago. Other than that, we love the beach and water there

I really do not recall how they were. I guess we should start taking pictures of the bathrooms to remember!LOL

They were disgusting when we were there. Food and lots of bottles in the toilet. Walked in and walked out. LOL

Hello beachbuddy. . .I went to the rest rooms at Coral World, and they were clean. . .Not a Marriott but clean for STT. Coral World is only about 100 ft from St. Thomas.

I walked by the changing rooms and rest rooms at Coki, but did not walk in. . .

Thanks Radio, so the ones at Coral World are open to the public? It's been about 5 or 6 years since we've been to Coki Beach but I love it there.......it's was the bathrooms that turned us off but I'd like to go there again because we always enjoyed the beach.

I have never seen photos of Coki beach. I have heard of it and am so glad you posted photos of it. I rarely go to that side of the island, but your photos have made me want to go!

Wendy, you don't even have to snorkel......you can just stand there and feed the fish. I always enjoyed the water there.

Hi ckrobyn,

We sent a request to "downline" to Royal Caribbean and it was approved. I understand that there are certain guidelines for these requests to be approved. It was all for not because the ship didn't stop in Halifax because of hurricane gust winds and we ended up having to purchase flights to Boston:(

Yes that is correct. No cover alacarte menu. Plus no longer waiter service it is self serve. No show and one officiato of JR's also claimed shakes are 1/3 smaller, that I cannot attest too.

George in NY

Shakes were half the size as Oasis and Allure and served in paper cups, takes away from the fun....

Hello everyone. . .

I decided to get off the ship around 9 AM and I can to the decision that I would be staying in port today. I thought maybe I would hit all of the casinos and win a few dollars. First off, there was only one casino and it WAS Radio Friendly. But, I cannot get rich on penny slots!

The tour operators were very aggressive with their tour offerings. Some of the tours seems like very good values. Excursions that the ship was offering for $75 could be obtained for just $20 per person. I didn’t feel like being hauled around in a safari van today, so my reply was always the same “No, thank you.”

I really loved the Ma Pau casino and the Sweet Lime restaurant just upstairs. There were a lot of crew having fun at the casino and using the free WiFi upstairs. The shops seemed to have some pretty good values, but I was unable to find the one item I was looking for (a local newspaper).

I was feeling under the weather after a few hours, so I decided to have a “day at sea” onboard and rest. The rest paid off, I feel wonderful right now and am looking forward to a busy day in St. Maarten tomorrow.

Here are a few pics from my short time ashore.

Great pics as usual. (You spoiled us and we have come to expect great pics.) I am trying to figure out when they built the new terminal. Sailed from Bayonne November 2013 and did not notice any construction. Always hated those short bus rides, especially disembarking with luggage. Anyway I noticed that the Quantum pricing reflects the upgraded ship and terminal. I do kinda miss the Explorer.

That other ship looks like something from a Transformers movie compared to the Quantum!

They installed new facilities back in 2012. Much improved.
