Does Carnival Still sing and dance everynight in the Main Dining room

I really didn't mind it. The way I saw it was, CCL brands themselves as the "Fun" ships. Therefore, one shouldn't cruise CCL who expects white glove service and a violin in the MDR. Adding a little fun to the MDR is just who CCL is. Though I'm not usually a fan of dancing waiters, I found it refreshing. Besides, my wife got up and started dancing the Gangham Style with them, so the fun she had is really all that matters. :)

On HAL or Celebrity, I'd find it annoying, simply because it wouldn't fit with the theme of the cruise. But on CCL, it seemed to fit well and the vast majority of the MDR was on their feet.

Good one. :D

There is dancing on Celebrity as well.

Sang the last night on the Liberty. Danced two or three nights out of five. One of our favorite parts about eating in the main dining room :)

We love it. For those who don't, all you gotta do is show up on time, eat a little faster, and get the hell out before they start.

Not every night but at least twice they will do the 'dirty napkin' dance.

Never understood why people twirl there dirty napkins after dinner. Crumbs everywhere.

Listen up Francis....it's just crumbs, sheesh, live a little

Nor will I lighten up, lol

All it takes is a piece of (not yours) chewed food landing on you plate to put you off the practice.

We liked it until this happened, yuck!

Does Carnival still have the singing and dancing every night during dinner.

Yes!

I actually LIKE it. Way back when, they only did it 2 nights, presenting Baked Alaska one night, and Cherries Jubilee the other. Once I owned a VCR recorder, I taped them because they were so fun.

The problem today is, service is SO SLOW, that the dancing starts BEFORE coffee and dessert are served, and have NOTHING to do with dessert presentation. Sometimes I'm even still eating, or just finished, and waiting for table service, and my guys are off dancing.

I do show up on time. After that, it is limited to the speed of the service. Finally, why do I have to eat faster? I am usually the first one done as it is.

When are they going to interrupt the production shows so that they can serve dessert?

I don't really care for the singing and dancing, but if we happen to be having dinner when they do it (we have anytime dining) we politely endure it. I don't like the twirling of the dirty napkins though, that is disgusting. As a PP mentioned, especially when they have sneezed or coughed into their napkin. It just seems very unsanitary to wipe your mouth a few times, getting crumbs and bits of food on it, and then twirl it in the air and all those particals are flying all over. I just want to cover my plate during that part of the festivities. :)

I know this is an older thread, but I'd appreciate your advice. Our October Carnival cruise will be just our second cruise ever, we are both mid-fifties. My DH really wants to cruise to Bermuda and after 30 years, he deserves it.

But oh my! I have been researching Carnival and our trip in particular. Our first cruise was a 4 day Disney cruise with a different dining venue each night. No dancing waiters.

Is this really a thing? That people enjoy? It just seems bizarre to me. I know we will not like it, will probably ask for a table in the farthest corner recess to get away from it. (Honestly it seems like a weird holdover from a different era.)

DH went on vacation to Bermuda as a teen, really loved it. Bermuda generally seems expensive, but maybe we would enjoy a land vacation there. Definitely over the crazy dining room antics and not fitting in with all the hard core cruisers I am learning about here.

Why did you pick Carnival? You have picked a product that will not meet your expectations. NCL and Celebrity go to Bermuda. They have more options that may match your expectations.

They even sing and dance on Celebrity. At least they did the times I sailed on it.

You are correct. I think it was one night, one show. More a parade than dancing. Not as "fun" as Carnivals dancing. Just how I remember it. The quoted post seemed to be concerned about alot of things that might disappoint.

I don't get it either...with the wealth of knowledge available about different cruising options these day, one would assume that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that the Carnival line is not for those too snooty for a little dancing and singing...seems like a no brainer to me....

This is one of the reasons I dislike the Pride now. We had a great experience 3 years ago but the new things they added actually made it worse (such as this and the Dr. Seuss parade through the CASINO).

Such as what? Dancing? They have been doing it since my very first cruise in December of 2003.

I don't particularly like it...but I would never expect anything less while cruising with Carnival....and I certainly would never let a little signing and dancing have any negative impact on my experience.....

It is simply part of the formula of what makes a FUN cruise aboard a FUN ship.
