Oh my! I got really busy at work and forgot about the sailaway. I just brought up the webcams and saw she was still in port! :eek: Lucky for me, but now I need to go back and read this thread to see why. Scheduled departure is 7:22pm PST so it's not too late. ;)

We had something similar on Westerdam in Seattle in 2008, but it was a fuel line that was tangled (the captain was NOT happy with the barge operator).

Divers were called and we left around 1 a.m. Edited by sppunk

Leaving port late does not affect what goes on onboard (other than casino and shops). The shows do go on. As does dinner etc.

As she's moored [I][B]portside[/B][/I] , and a line got tangled in the pod propulsion mechanism,it would be aft/port.
As someone else said, until ''all lines on deck cleared'' is confirmed, the bridge would not engage the pods beyond ''idling'' ( which they would have been for ~~ 20 minutes before expected sailaway, as the chief engineer would put one or two engines on line at that time). If one line ended up under and tangled up with the pod...either the high wind caused a rather severe backwash shoving the line in question ''off course''and under the hull...or someone on the bridge turned the pods up a weebit too soon...:rolleyes:
A messy ''incident''....but it happens, albeit very rarely.
Witnessed a similar one here in Vancouver, but with a regular shaft/rudder/prop propulsion. Takes a while to free up the whole tangled mess...THEN you have to test the props....in the case here, one was a bit bent. Those lines are solid !!! Edited by c-legs

Winds were 20 gusting 25 then and were out of the south (stern)...

Yeah I'm not there.. a passenger is on board quoting what the captain said...they may have gotten it wrong.
