Camping chairs.

^lol...it sure does. We went last wekend and I forgot my carry on at home. It didn't have much. An extra change in clothes, my bathing suit, music, headphones, a few magazines, etc....nothing crucial but I may have enjoyed it anyway. I guess my point is, too little, too much it almost doesn't matter. Just go and have fun....

Where, exaclty, were these new cabins added in the Windjammer area?:confused::confused:

Okay I got it wrong they have taken space from the Windjammer to make New Dining venues, and taken space from some of the bars and lounges for the new cabins. Just read the reviews, I am not the only one that is complaining. The captain has apparentely been in touch with Miami regarding the lack of seating.

How much are these additional cabins on the Voyager class ships really adding to the passenger count, in terms of a percentage?

You want a ship where the Windjammer really is too small for the passenger count, try Enchantment.

I believe if they are all doubled up, some can take more however than the extra number would be 200.

Actually, on Oasis and Allure, they have increased the size of Windjammer by relocating Izumi.

If I would go with that attitude I would be very nervious too. BUt we should be Patient with the OP, they paid top Dollars for their cruise and I´m sure some roped off Areas in the WJ are included here. ;)

Just a tip for the OP, if there is a Need to visit Customer Services you should go when everybody else is fighting for a table in the WJ:D

The term "top dollar" and "good money" always make think that they believe the rest of us paid "bad money and low dollars"!! Very annoying attitude.

My husband and I are going on the Explorer of the Seas on the 17th June, this year, and we are becoming very nervious. We keep reading and hearing that because Royal Caribbean have put in extra staterooms and dining venues (to pay for one obviously) on this ship, that the Windjammer is now way to small and crowded and that it is almost impossible for people to find a space. It has always been quite difficult to find space in the Windjammer, but if they have made if even smaller, then perhaps we will have to take our own Camping chairs and table with us. Both my husband and I are disabled and unable to stand and walk distances. They have also reduced bar space and seating in the lounges as well, and there is not a lot of room to sit for a drink especially after late dining. We paid top price for this cruise, and if things are as bad as they say they are, I can see that I will be spending quite a lot of time at Customer Services.

Come on Royal Caribbean this is just GREED.

Yes, you can bring anything you want, if you get it on the ship is another story. By the way, if you plan on spending a lot of time at guest services you will need bar stools as the height of the desk is higher than windjammer seating, there is already a thread on bringing bar stools:rolleyes:

Be sure to tip

What new dining venues are in Windjammer space? Wasn't Chops always there?

I don't really understand - did Explorer get a different update than Navigator? Why aren't there complaints about NAV WJ/Bar seating?

That said - I do think the camping chairs are funny - I would probably just sleep on a lounger on deck 11 under deck 12 under before going for a tent with a few pool towels! Wouldn't want to pack up the tent and lug it thru the WJ for breakfast! :)

Voyager, Explorer, and Adventure only had the Italian specialty restaurant when they were built. If Chops is being added to the Windjammer then it would simply make Explorer's Windjammer the same as Navigator's and Mariner's. And since Navigator came out of dry dock with new cabins I have not been reading much on these boards about its Windjammer now being dysfunctional.

And Miami is sending truck loaded with chairs?

Deckplans are showing Chops on Deck 11, off the Windjammer and Giovannis on Deck 4 by the casino. I knew that the first generation Voyager class ships only had one of the two restaurants, I always forget which one it was, Portofino or Chops. Was Portofino up on Deck 11 or Deck 4? I am just trying to understand what space they think was taken away.

Portofino's was up in the Windjammer I am pretty sure. I'll pull out our pictures when I get home as it has been awhile since we were on the ship. So if Chops is in the Windjammer now and Giovanni's is on deck four then how the Windjammer lost space is lost on me.

Navigator has chops and Giovanni's near wind jammer, Izumi in VC, and Sabor on deck 4...

All I could think of was that it's not as warm where explorer is, so more people in the WJ instead of the pool??

For whatever reason, Royal does not add a restaurant to Windjammer on Voyager, Explorer, and probably Adventure too. Perhaps that space on the port side of Windjammer where they put Chops on Navigator and Mariner is just not usable on the first gen ships. So during dry dock, they typically change the Italian restaurant in WJ to Chops, and install Giovanni's elsewhere. In the case of Voyager and Explorer, Giovanni's goes to the top deck of the former night club on deck 4, next to Schooner.

So this still leaves the great mystery as to why Explorer's Windjammer has suddenly become so dysfunctional.... according to the OP.

I do understand mobility issues, and not being able to stand in long lines. If you are that concerned about what you "heard" from others you might want to change your booking to another ship. If you go on the cruise convinced you will have a problem, you will. It may also be a perception issue. What some people consider crowded and unable to find a seat, others may see as not a problem. I usually try to go to the Windjammer at an off time to avoid the crowds. From the way you are describing the conditions on the ship it sounds like people are packed in like sardines and I have a hard time believing it is that bad.

As today's is a short one or 4 days it will be packed so I'm heading there at lunch to check for you at its possible worst. However my disclaimer is that whatever I find its your decision and I'm not responsible if you don't like it when you go

Just read the reviews, they can't all be wrong.
