meagalicious Posted June 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Please help me, I'll have to purchase online, so I think it would be too hard to match the navy, maybe a cream color? Cruise is in August so sheer would be fine, but would that look ok with all of the beading? The top is more of a nude color, as shown in the second picture. Drew's Wife Posted June 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2015 The dress is beautiful....cream would be lovely, however you could also do a pop of color if you like, pink or yellow, etc. I know you will look wonderful...Please share pictures....we all love to see the photos. cb at sea Posted June 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I would NOT cover that up with a shawl or wrap of any kind...it's a beautiful dress! I've always brought a wrap, but have never needed it. Hopefully, you won't, either!
MMOMOM Posted June 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Since I'm always cold, I would need the wrap, but like the OP said, you don't want to cover up too much of the beautiful beading! But, you don't have to! You can loop it around your shoulders and still take the chill off! Cream would be great, but I also like the idea of a light color tint in the pink, blue or yellow. Doesn't matter, it's a gorgeous dress .... I love it! Do post pictures of you wearing it and have a fabulous time! :)
awhfy Posted June 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2015 If I was going to do anything with that gorgeous dress, I'd try to match the navy
MMOMOM Posted June 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2015 You know, the OP is right .... try and match the Navy. It wouldn't be that far off and even if it was, it's far enough away when you're wearing it not to matter! :)
Keroppi2011 Posted June 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Wow, that's a showstopper! Gorgeous beading.
OCruisers Posted June 29, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Beautiful Dress! Matching the Navy would be my choice as well. It'll be nice to have it along in case you get chilly. :) LuLu

luvscruising2007 Posted June 29, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I think a very pale blue would look good. But, I would not use a wrap either. The beading is beautiful and I would not want to cover it.
Langley Cruisers Posted June 29, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I think you should try to match the bottom. If you wear the wrap, from the back you will look monochromatic. From the front of course, the cream top will be seen and I think the whole look is very dramatic and beautiful. What about shoes and a purse? Tell us more. :D To where are you cruising? I have never needed a wrap in say, the Caribbean. .
Member123 Posted June 29, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2015 My inclination would be to match skin tone. I think that the beading shows up so beautifully because of the "illusion" of beading on bare skin… and the bodice underlayment of the beading overlay is kind of a skin tone, barely a hint of pink. I would try to downplay the effect of the wrap, rather than trying to make it a statement by matching the navy. Are you going with navy shoes and a light, skin toned or silver clutch? Tell us more! Beautiful, beautiful dress.
waterbug123 Posted June 30, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 30, 2015 My vote would be for sheer silver metallic. If you manage to match the navy, go buy a lottery ticket right away because you obviously have very good luck, LOL.
true45 Posted June 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted June 30, 2015 A silver metallic shawl I'm with you, silver would be lovely But better yet don't cover the lovely dress
auntjoy036 Posted June 30, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 30, 2015 That dress is gorgeous! I vote for go shawlless and (maybe) shiver. That bodice is just too pretty to cover. Have fun whatever you decide. Vicki
Anita Latte Posted June 30, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Beautiful dress. I disagree with anyone that says don't cover up the dress. Do what you need to do in order to be comfortable. I remember seeing an article of fashion do's and don't when I was in my teens...and the biggest don't was to try to be fashionable but be cold because of being under dressed. I'd go for matching the bodice. I like this shawl in champagne: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/adrianna-papell-satin-wrap/4101152?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Champagne&resultback=500 The bodice is so pretty and dominant. I had a conversation with my Mom about bossy clothes and how well them might get along with other clothes. I think that bodice is bossy...but I think it could get along with a shawl that was similar in color and a flattering style, like the linked shawl. Hints of the dress would peek through the shawl...and if you were wearing statement earrings and a bracelet like the photo...it would be a lovely look IMO. auntjoy036 Posted July 1, 2015 #17 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Anita Latte, I think you've hit a home run. I said no shawl in part because all of the shawls I have seen recently have beads, sequins, or metallic that would compete with the bodice. The simple, elegant shawl you posted complements. It does not compete or detract. Good find! Vicki
Rare Scrapnana Posted July 1, 2015 #18 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Love that champagne wrap. Navy is a really tough color to even come close to matching and one I would not even attempt online. To the OP - that is a gorgeous dress!
cowgrrl Posted July 1, 2015 #19 Share Posted July 1, 2015 I found a lace shrug on eBay to go with a halter dress I found (my arms have seen better days!). Doesn't cover up any of the dress as it sits along the curve of my shoulder.
Sandy Sails Posted July 1, 2015 #20 Share Posted July 1, 2015 I think something shear in the champaign color would be nice. But would a shear be warm enough? LOVE that dress!
