SALE! Everything must go!

I heard a pro-tip from a co-worker who did a cruise i'm about to go on that the shops on board Carnival ships (specifically Imagination) have a sale at the end of the cruise in order to push off the rest of the merchandise they don't want to sell. Is this true?

A souvinor or two would certainly be nice. But getting it at a slick deal, at the rare risk they'll sell out, is even better.

One last question? I heard you can buy a DVD of your specific sailing or something along those lines? Something like of your actual ship leaving or events on board, etc? Is that true as well?

Thank you!

True, the shops on board will have some better "deals" at the end of the cruise, but it's usually just t-shirts, etc... Not that big of a deal really. Things like 2 t-shirts that say "Grand Turk" for $15-$20.

Yes, you can buy a dvd at the end of the cruise with scenes from your specific cruise intermixed with stock shots of the ship you sailed.

They have "sales" on everything and are really not in a position that "everything must go" because the same stuff will be available on the next cruise with the 2000+ people boarding behind you. T-shirts are gonna be 2 for 20 or maybe 3 for 25 kinda thing. Then the other knicknacks vary as to what each ship has and when. There are often "sales" on the knock off charm braclets and they do silver by the foot and gold by the foot each cruise (they are overlay - not solid). Personally, I like the stuff by the foot - I often make anklets, and even had one start to peel - took it on the next cruise and by their guarantee, they replaced it for free, no questions asked.

As for the DVD, yes, they will be filming around the ship and on shore and they sell it at the end of the cruise. Don't know how much because that isn't our kind of thing.

I sure wouldn't get too excited about this..been on many cruises and when they say this , I think every body that has never been on a cruise rushes there, so picture all these passengers trying to get into these sales to find out it is only T-shirts...

Same as the jewelry store..flocks of people trying to win something..you cannot even move...wow..

but it sure is a first time experience..

have fun on your cruise..

Cool. Fair enough. Don't think I'll want the Grand Turk shirts on an Ensenada cruise, lol. But that DVD is certainly a must for my first ever cruise!

It's a standard sales process. They always have sales at the end of each cruise not to get rid of excess merchandise but simply because that's their routine and they know that people wish to purchase that last-minute souvenir before they get off the boat. I have done several back-to-back cruises and have determined through observation that exactly the same products are usually available at the end of each of the cruises although sometimes a certain t-shirt won't be available at multiple sale days. So if you see a t-shirt or other clothing item that you particularly like be sure to buy it but otherwise if you miss it the first go round and you're staying for a back to back you can get it the next sale day at the end of your next cruise! Things you might want to buy earlier in the cruise because they may not be available on the last sale are the items on the $10 tables. You can get dress purses, shawls, and costume Jewelry sets at pretty nice prices on that $10 sale.

Carnival doesn't really do the type of cruise that leads to real sales. Those occur on end of season cruises, when a ship is repositioning from one area to another. The last cruise of the Alaska season, or Europe. Princess in particular, will have a portion of one dining room with tables loaded with tshirts and other items at rock bottom prices. EM

I love the shops onboard, I spend all my casino money there and have something to take home. The end of the cruise "sale" is generally going to be items they haven't sold on other cruises, shirts from places your cruise didn't go. I love the glass items, animals and sea creatures of glass, of course I don't usually have to fly so it's easier for me to pack these (they aren't lite). But it's fun to look at everything and it can be crowded, think walmart on black Friday.

Yup, the last day sales are usually heavy on old or discontinued merchandise. Like someone mentioned above, I often see lots of ship T-shirts with old itineraries that the ship doesn't even sail to anymore.

I thought they discontinued the DVDs 2-3 years ago? I haven't seen them in a while and I used to buy them when I sailed with a group of my friends.

We bought one in 2013 for our family cruise. But now that you mentioned it I don't remember hearing it hawked on our cruises this year. Maybe they did do away with it.......It isn't something I look for so I could have easily missed it.

No such blow out sale on the Inspiration last week.

As others have said it's older merchandise or things no longer in use. Last year on our HI cruise they were selling old merchandise from the Alaska sailings and the lanyards from the old kid's programs.

I didn't read all the postings, but I know the generally have the $10 sale, unless it has gone up. What I like (yes there are HORDS of people that you have to deal with when sales go on like this) are the watches. I am a watch person, and I probably have about 20 watches. Several I have bought on the ships, and they turned out to be good watches. Actually the batteries cost as much or more than they did.:)

I have never found any good deals on the ships. Yes, they promise 20-30% off of Invicta or Citizen watches, but that is off the MSRP price, which very few stores sell them for anyway. I was looking at a cpl watches that I could buy for $100+cheaper back on shore.

The true souvenirs, like the ship models and other things like that are never on sale later in the cruise. They might tie it together with another item at a bundle price, but I have never found it to be cheaper.

A recent cruise I was on (Conquest?) they had a last day sale on the usual stuff mentioned but they also had the cruise director yell out amazing deals on various items as well as raffle off items for those in attendance. I can tell you I bought a bottle of 40.00 rum for 8 bucks...I was impressed as they had it for full ship price in the liquor store while the event was going on. Unfortunately I bought only one.

The only time I saw a real everything must go was on the Breeze in 2013. They still had lots of Mediterranean shirts so they had a table with those that was like 5 for $20. They threw in like 1 or 2 Caribbean shirts but they weren't any ports our sailing went too. So there are some it just depends on the ship and current itinerary.

Had a conversation with a passenger on last week's Dream cruise who was disappointed that the DVDs were not available. Said that when she asked about it, the staff person denied ever offering a product like that. So the DVD probably has been unavailable for a few years now since staff no longer knows about it.

Or it was just someone who didn't know what they were talking about because they were selling them on my Alaskan cruise in June.

They have sales on every sea day. Usually nothing special about the prices, you'll get what you pay for, and don't expect the prices to go down on items from the gift shop that you have been trying to decide if you want to buy all week. Looks like they just bring out extra stuff for the sales.

We have picked up T-shirts for family members at good prices but you can get the same deals in port. If you were busy in port and didn't shop for gifts the sale on the last day can help you take care of that.
