Celebrity Suite verses Sky

Do not know a lot about SS, only ever briefly seen so I will let others give you more details on them...but familiar with CS and stayed in one on S class...

Space wise on M class nice big living area, large windows and ok balcony. Bath very high to step in and out of...(shower over bath) so no good for little people like me or anyone with mobility issues. I would seriously consider this suite if it wasn't for the bath...

S class we found privacy good if third person in room. Jack and Jill bathroom. We did find the two room set up made the living space seem quite small, no inside dining space. Good balcony...We would not book again now SS have Michael's unless we were travelling as a three.

The two separate living/sleeping areas do have the advantage that one can get up and enjoy the suite, balcony....without disturbing the other so if you are a couple with different sleeping patterns this again could give the CS an advantage.

As already mentioned perks the same in both now....

Thank you both for the details. Did you find the separate bedroom without outside light ok?

The sky suite is an S1 aft corner and I often enjoyed the wake and view. Of course longer walk to get anywhere LOL Good to walk off deserts!

Was storage space ok in CS?

Great info, thanks again

The bedroom is well decorated, so the lack of outside light isn't really a problem.

I have to agree that it's nice to be have that second space; I stay up late, my spouse rises early.

Both suites are good choices, unless it's a rough crossing, then the CS will be the better choice.

Have you stayed in an S1 aft corner previously? IMO they are great and I would never pay more to stay in a CS because of the lack of view from the bed. I have never stayed in a CS, but I have seen a few.

The best input would be from someone who has stayed in both. The comment about the privacy is a good one and if I had three people in one cabin I would stay in the CS. But this is never our situation.

Personally we didn't like the closed in bedroom on the S class, we enjoy going to sleep and waking to sea views. We love aft views too....

I'm so glad I asked here! Thanks for the points to consider:rolleyes:

I agree I prefer natural views to a closed in bedroom, and privacy not an issue.

"S class Aft S-1, be sure you do not get one with a TINY balcony (reflection for sure, not sure if the same on other S class ships"kenevenpar

kenevenpar, is the REF balcony narrow? No room for table/chairs to have a meal outside?

I'll try to google pictures because I LOVE a nice balcony. I thought the corner aft S1 had a larger balcony that also wraps around for a side view?

Thanks again!

From what I understand, on embankment with CS, a host will escort you to MC. And on debarment, you wait in MC and are escorted out. With SS you don't have an escort and on debarment, you wait with Elite and Elite+ in a separate area.

If you HATE lines, this could make a difference to you.

Yes, they do. From what I saw docked next to the Silhouette last week was the deck 6 balcony was narrower than the other corner S1s. It looked to be just as long. It looked like you had to turn you chair sideways if using the footstool, but you could dine on it. I would not book one on that deck.

I am not sure if it varies by ship. On our recent cruise in a Sky Suite (Eclipse) we were escorted to the Michael's Club (which was not very far and not necessary if you know where it is) when be boarded. We were also invited (and went) to the Michael's Club on the departure morning. The Michael's club was active, but never too busy every night. Live music most nights.

We've stayed in both.

We have only been in CS once and we won't again because the perks for those suites are really identical. No value to us really, in the extra $$, since Sky suites can now have Michael's.

The separate living area and bedroom was nice, and we enjoyed the extra space, but we have our next cruise again in a corner aft S1 which is our favorite. We rather like the long walk. We've been in those 6 times now. More open and the view is outstanding. Yes the mid ship close to elevator and stairs is convenient but we don't mind the walk to the back.

You will get Michael's Club with both. You'll get Luminae with both, a butler with both, and if you book suites many times you will get gratuities, unlimited internet, onboard credit and premium beverage package. That's what we got by booking our S1 on board. Celebrity gave us $650 total OBC and the rest of those perks. Transferring to our online TA we got an additional $750 OBC. So all that credit to spend and an all-inclusive cruise. What a problem, spending $1400. Likely for us it will be some greens fees and maybe some wine upgrades by the glass, a wine paired dinner, and then we'll let the remaining refundable get back on the card. Or I'll find something in the shops.

We never had an issue with stepping up or down into the bathroom or into the tub - but we have no mobility issues. As a matter of fact, until it was mentioned here, the bathroom accessibility/shower-tub accessibility didn't ever even hit my radar. I'm 5'3" and had no problems with anything.

On the S1 cabins, one deck has the window washing unit in the very corner outside on the balcony, but it's low down and you really don't have any view problems. We stayed in it once. Really unless you were wanting an unobstructed view looking straight down it is a non-issue. In 6 cruises, never a problem with the so-called soot, and we have not had any noise issues. Yes you can see people if you're at the rail, but that is not a problem really. If you're lying on a lounger, maybe someone looking over can see your feet. The poles in the room also are no problem. Sometimes there are one, sometimes two. Just like an architectural feature. No problem at all.

Our favorite is the penthouse deck. High up and still surrounded by cabins up and down.

The aft view is great, so most often we spend sail away there.

Storage space is more than adequate for both. I keep all my shoes on the floor of the closet and an opened suitcase under the bed for dirty clothes on one side and not-often-used things on the other. We always ask for extra hangers to be in the closet and so it's not a problem there either. Sometimes I take away the fat wooden ones and just use their wire hangers - those wooden ones take so much space.

We also always put away unseen all the trays and blue folders and extra material they leave in the cabin, and we never have needed any extra things like shoe hangers or collapsible storage containers. We toss the dailies almost as soon as they come and all the extra fliers, invitations, etc. and ask not to have the basket of buy-me items brought to the cabin. In other words, keeping the cabin clutter free makes it seem even bigger.

ClaudiaB WOW! Thank you for taking so much time with this answer in detail

Soooo much easier when someone has stayed in both and can compare!

Unfortunately they don't offer much in OBC for TA itineraries

I don't mind the walk in general. I do remember coming back from a hot long shore ex and wishing I was mid ship! But the aft relaxing view makes up for the off day.

Only high end suites include the free perks, so CS and Sky don't enjoy that without buying a best pkg IF available - again not offered on TA's

Must thank you again for all the thought you put into the details!

Claudia, any chance that suite with the window washing unit was Sky1 1665. I have booked it for my cruise on the Reflection but on an airline web site it states that it is partially obstructed. Now I am concerned. Any info would be so appreciated. thanks!!!

We are on the Eclipse in under 3 weeks in an S1. I didn't know if they were now doing the blue folder thing and escorting you on if you were in a sky suite but from your comments, you were treated as other Michael's Club guests in upper suites both on embarkation and disembarkation.

We were on 1098 on the Eclipse a number of years ago and the window equiptment ws tied up right next the the side of the cabin. That is why I have gone for decks 9 and 11 since then.

Yes, we were treated the same, but I do not know if this is the standard procedure on all ships. We received a small blue folder. We were escorted to the ship, but we were waiting in a special area with others because we were early. They did escort us to the Michael's Club, but since we entered on deck 5 it was a very short walk. I was actually surprised to get a letter inviting us to the Michael's Club for disembarkation. It might depend on the anticipated usage, but there were only six people in there first thing in the morning. Really no reason to wait as if you are in a Suite you can depart as soon as the ship is cleared. The only reason there were six people in there was that we had all taken advantage of the free for suites luggage valet service. To our surprise we could not get off the ship until all the luggage valet luggage was cleared by customs which caused a slight delay. Thus we waited in Michael's club for our special announcement.

Enjoy your cruise. We just loved the Luminae and Michael's Club.

The first time in Michael's we walked onto the ship and were met by the concierge as we entered the ship (we were first of the Michael's guests on). The second time (which was from Southampton) we were asked to wait in an area for someone to take us onto the ship. The Captain's Club host took us on board and then into Michael's.

The escorting bit really isn't needed. We are perfectly able to fond our way to Michael's having done so many times over the years.

Are the SS allowed to eat in Luminae for Breakfast and Lunch too?

I am going to assume this is a serious question. Yes, all suites have been able to dine in Lu,inane whenever it is open. They are open every day for all meals except for lunch on port days. Then you are allowed to dine in Bistro 5 without the cover charge. We have done this once on each of our two cruise since the Luminae opened. Port days are good days to eat in the Oceanview Cafe outside because it is not very busy.

Luminae is open for breakfast, lunch (on sea days) and dinner. It is available to all suite categories, including Sky Suites, for all meal service when open. However, on the Equinox last fall we found that service at both breakfast and lunch to be so slow that we had both breakfast and lunch somewhere else.

Thank You! For some reason I thought I read somewhere that SS were allowed to eat in Luminae for dinner only BUT Signature suite . i.e... CS and higher were able to eat in Luminae for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was wrong:o
