Disappointed: Anyone Ever Have This Happen? Sailing Soon & Cabin # Changed by Royal

Recommended Posts

I have a cruise booked for later this month; the anticipation and excitement of spending my vacation relaxing on a deck 7 corner aft balcony on a Voyager Class ship has been high. This morning, I logged into my account to retrieve my reservation number so that I could call about setting up transfers from the airport. While on the phone with the rep, I noticed that my cabin had been changed to cabin 8378!

While this is "technically" an upgrade, it is not an upgrade that I am pleased about because I selected the original specific cabin based upon the balcony size and its aft location. (I DO NOT have an automatic upgrade request listed in my profile preferences.) Needless to say, I am very disappointed, especially because I was told by the Crown and Anchor rep that my cabin was given to someone else to accommodate a 3 person reservation. I was told the ship is sold out, so there is no other cabin option available ... AND that I could most likely NOT have my original cabin back because there was no place to put the 3 people who are now booked in the cabin I originally booked. :(

Has anyone ever had this type of situation happen to them before?

I don't think you were moved because of an upgrade.

I'm surprised you were able to book the 3-person stateroom with only two guests in the first place. RC has usually restricted these staterooms so that booking with only two guests is not possible. I really don't think there's anything you can do at this point.

Well that sums up what I was going to say as well. And yes I have heard about folks being moved from a corner aft if there is only 2 of you. Have you called and tried to go thru the Resolutions dept? I would not be happy either.

I've been concerned about losing our corner aft in April. I made sure my C&A profile was checked for NO upgrades. Is that what you did as well?

I don't think that will help, as I don't think the OP's change was due to an upgrade. I suspect it was a "fix" for a booking that they don't want to allow, but somehow got through the booking system.

Now, I have 500 days to worry about my Jewel cruise.

OK, good. We have 4 in the cabin, so don't need to worry about that. Thanks!

I booked directly with a Crown and Anchor representative. At no point was I ever told that the cabin would be be lost if it was needed for 3 people. The supervisor I spoke to earlier stated that I had spoken to 2 different people when I made the reservation and that neither had put in the notes that the cabin was restricted to 3 people, which he said indicated to him that it was in general inventory for 2 person booking.

Then I would do as Ellen suggested and try talking to the Resolutions department. Having the names of the people you spoke to when booking would help. They may not be able to move you back to that stateroom since they have given it away, but they may be able to give you OBC, give you a full refund, or move you to another cruise that has the stateroom you want.

...but somehow got through the booking system.

There has been at least one recent post about people finding a 3+ room available for 2 people.

If their system is doing it they need to start acknowledging it. And not punishing the people booking it.

I have booked a corner aft on several different ships numerous times as well... as a double and even as a solo passenger. I was told that someone had booked a balcony guarantee and that since my original cabin could accommodate 3 people, my reservation for 2 was moved to a different cabin.

So much for just having reached Diamond Plus status. The great anticipation I was feeling is now much deflated. I feel that my loyalty has been rewarded with a huge slap in the face.

We have booked a corner aft cabin for the two of us several times and nothing was ever said about the cabin being for 3 people only. Never got bumped either.

I would be very upset about this.

I agree, it's ultimately RC's fault and I think the OP should be compensated somehow.

Thank you for the suggestion. Would you happen to know the phone number for the Resolutions department?

I don't know of a direct number, however if you call the C&A number, they should be able to transfer you.

The last phone I saw quoted here on CC for Resolutions is

800-327-6700

Oh... and I had this one saved, posted by Ashland:

RCI Resolutions (800) 205-9812

That is indeed a shame. I would have been extremely upset if I found my

favorite corner aft cabin #9256 on Radiance for my B2B Alaska was given

away, especially after I had "no upgrades" in my profile as well.

I hope you are able to get it resolved. Good luck.

I went solo once as DH didn't want to do a 7 day so went with friends, and suddenly found myself moved from a mid ship cabin to more forward. My TA was able to get my cabin back ASAP. However your situation is different being you had an aft cabin, call as others have said and see what can be done. Good luck.
