Splendor

Please tell me that I didn't make a mistake in booking on this ship? I just finished reading at least 7 pages on this site of nothing but negative reviews. The timing and itinerary are what I was looking for most which is why I choose the Splendor but it seems that everyone that has gone, has nothing but bad

Things to say about every aspect of the cruise. Did anyone enjoy it?

I've been on the Splendor four times with two more (b2b) booked for April. You'll be fine.

About reviews.....

Take them with a grain of salt. Several of our cruises have been reviewed by others and couldn't believe that we were on the same cruise.

Also many more will complain than those who give rave reviews.

For a more balanced review, read the 4, 3, 2 star reviews. 5 star can be very Pollyanna and the 1 star you'd think they were manning the oars on a Roman Galleon.

We just sailed on Splendor Dec 4-10, to Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. The ship was very clean and well-maintained, the public spaces did not seem crowded, the food was very good, service was efficient.

Our cabin was #1333, and it was very clean and comfortable. Our room steward did a great job.

The cruise director Chloe was very friendly [she is on vacation until mid January...our cruise was her last one for now]. The rest of the entertainment crew were very good at their jobs.

We didn't find anything to complain about on our trip, and I'm sure yours will be just as good. Sometimes, only people with bones to pick write reviews, so you don't hear about the thousands of people every week who have a great time.

I sailed her back in the Summer of 2015 and really enjoy the ship. Although it's laid out a little bit different, it wasn't hard to navigate and there's a decent amount of deck space. As others have said take negative reviews with a grain of salt, some people are never happy, and those people are more likely to go out of their way to right a negative review.

We sailed on her in February and again December 4-10. We had a great time both times. The service on the Splendor is very good, the food in the dining room was excellent. Some people don't like the pink décor but that's not important to me. Our cabin was cleaned well each day. Entertainment was good, in fact we love the productions and the singers and dancers were some of the best we've seen. Don't listen to those negative reviews, they are people who just happened to have some bad experience but people book on the Splendor over and over again so most have great experiences.

7 pages ??? Actually that's not much considering the thousands who cruise. How could "everything" be bad ??

MOST people will NOT write a review if they are having a good time.

Thats anywhere.

You also have to know about expectations from the people that write bad reviews.

You cruise on the Splendor and make it YOUR cruise based on your expectations.

Going on her monday! Love her!! Cant wait to be back on her

Us too!! Started packing today! :) She was our very first Carnival ship back in '09, and we're thrilled to be cruising on her again.

Like others have said, so much of cruising is having a positive attitude - not everything is going to be perfect 100% of the time, but rolling with it when it's not perfection sure makes it more enjoyable. Some people prefer to be negative and seek out ways to feed that negativity. I feel a little sorry for them... their life is probably not as fun as mine. :) :p

Was on the Splendor in October. First time on her. I thought she was a great ship and very clean and well maintained. Saw a review from our sailing stating the Ship was dirty and staff unfriendly. I sure didn't think so. If you have anytime dining and get Dejan (Dan) as your waiter, he was delightful.

The Casino was also very good to me!! Saw reviews where people qualified for 'drinks on us' during the sailing and complained about lack of service. I also qualified for this and found the servers to be very attentive to me. I made sure to tip them $1 for each drink they brought me. Otherwise, they would not have gotten any tip for serving me.

I was very surprised at the negative comments on Splendor. Not my experience at all!

Is it Splendor that has the oversized purple grapes in the MDR? Or perhaps the Miracle, or both?

Anyway to the OP Twinmom1, enjoy the twins. They grow fast, mine are now 41.

Miracle has the grapes.

For the o.p.: I've been on Splendor many times when it sailed out of NYC and found the service and food excellent. I like that the midship pool isn't terraced like the Conquest class vessels. The only negative was the idiotic c.d. but it looks like there's a different one now. Enjoy!

We sailed on the Carnival Splendor on 8/13/16-8/21/16. We had a great cruise on her and she's a beautiful ship. If you want, you can such my review of my cruise on the Carnival Splendor on here "Carnival Splendor review 8/13/16-8/21/16". It's lengthy but it'll answer most of your concerns you may have abt the Splendor.

Are you reading on the Reviews board or are you clicking on the ship name at the top of this page and reading reviews from people who tend to post here?

I've found the ones on the Reviews board to mostly be 180 degrees from what I experience.

My last cruise was on Splendor. I sailed her last October to Bermuda and the November before that from San Juan to Miami. The spring cruise I'm looking just happens to be on her, too.

Not my favorite ship but I don't sail for the ship.

Do bear in mind that we may see one review every few weeks for a particular ship. That's about 1 in 10,000 passengers. Even if they all say the same negative things, it's hardly a sample size worth paying any attention to!

I read reviews just because I enjoy reading reviews. But I don't base my cruise decisions on anyone else's impressions. What I experience on my sailing can be totally different from what the person in the cabin next to me experiences based on the choices we make, the things we do, the foods we eat, the people we encounter and our overall expectations.

People take these reviews way too seriously! ;)
