No, They will still go to HMC. There are still plenty of cruises that go to HMC compared to the few that will stop at PCs. Mainly the Liberty has been affected. Instead of stopping at Freeport, she stops at PCs now.

I don't think so ;). Carnival is running out of ports to call on, so their looking for more . To many ships :D. You can only go to Nassau so many times before it becomes NastySaw ;)

Nassau, Bahamas = Nausea, Bahamas :D

Freeport = Sleezeport :D

It's a shame we usually have to put up with a stop in Nassau to get to HMC.

At least a day of relaxation on the ship is enjoyable while the masses are off on land.

Since they control all passenger spending on these private islands always wondered why they didnt develop their own and go their more often.
I don't think they ever felt the need. Since HAL pulls all of its ships out of the Caribbean during the summer, Carnival doesn't have to share during those months.

So does princess and thinking they would do better on private islands than ports.

Get all liquor sales on the island and even keep it separate from cheers.

not sure of all 6 but i know the pride from baltimore will be going on select cruises in 2018. i looked up a spring break cruise for 2018 so i can book on board next week and i see that on the eastern Caribbean cruise i am looking at they swap HMC with Princess cay. but is only from late march until late april it does this and then goes back to HMC after that. also the bahamas itinerary also swaps port Canaveral for the princess cay starting nov 5 2017. then it looks like on the Bahamas itinerary swaps back and forth going on from there between port canaveral and princess cay.

Holland America has a 99 year lease on Half Moon Cay. When Carnival bought Holland America the also got Half Moon Cay in the deal. Carnival is not leaving anytime soon. If anything look for Half Moon Cay to build up. When we stopped there on the Pride over New Years even the casino on the ship was still open.

I would agree with you if not for the fact Carnival has also been using one of Royal Caribbean's private islands.

I have also wondered why Carnival Corp's flagship cruise line doesn't have their own island, especially considering what RCI has done with Labadee and what NCL has done with Harvest Cay.

Lot of undeveloped land here and they could build up and bring in two ships at a time.

I almost wet my pants when i looked at cruises today. I didn't realize that Ecstasy (out of Charleston, SC) now goes to Princess Cay!

HMC is our favorite stop on any of the cruises we have been on. If Princess Cay is half as good as HMC, it will be our new 2nd favorite stop!

Anyone know if Liberty will dump the Freeport stop prior to the time frame that was mentioned (I think April/May)? I was hoping we'd end up at Princess Cays on our 2/26 sailing instead of Freeport. One can hope, right?! :)

Good luck just about any port is better than Freeport

I remember CCL using CocoCay back in 2013.. but they are still not using it.. or are you referring ot something else?

Also, if you are throwing Labadee in the "private island" mix, then I guess Amber Cove and Mahogany Bay count.

Yes, I'm referring to Coco Cay, or as Carnival called it by its charted name, Little Stirrup Cay. 2013? That doesn't sound right. I'm almost certain Carnival called there more recently than 2013.

Labadee is not like Mahogany Bay or Amber Cove. In Labadee, you can't leave the compound. Though it's attached, it's still a private destination, not just a port.
