Best things on Celebrity on Sea Days?

Besides drink, what are the best activities Celebrity offers on Sea Days? Our Alaska Cruise leaves June 9 from Seattle - I would love to hear suggestions that keep me away from the bars and casino.

On an Alaska cruise spend a lot of time just looking out the windows...the scenery is amazing. We took to setting up camp in the lounge on deck 14. Lots and lots of windows and quick access to the outside decks when you want some fresh air.

Fitness Center, Wine tasting, reading.

There are activities such as "Dancing with the Stripes", flashmobs, battle of the chefs with audience participation that you can join in or just enjoy watching. On our Asia cruise with many sea days, we signed up for an improv comedy workshop that was a hoot.

 

But I agree with Mr. Click about the scenery watching on an Alaska cruise. And don't forget to look for wildlife!

Eating a leisurely breakfast, a bit later than on days with an early excursion. The Pool. Mid-morning visit somewhere on the ship for a snack. The Spa. Eating lunch...maybe in the MDR, not feeling I have to rush or fight the crowd. Window Shopping. The Pool reading a bit from a book I found in the library. Watching the ocean. Watching the people. The Pool, enjoying a few drinks. A short afternoon nap, which is a rare guilty pleasure at home. A long walk around the ship, watching the water or places we are passing. Checking in on the internet. Leisurely getting ready for dinner without the usual rush. A pre-dinner cocktail. OH WAIT...the day is over? Why didn't I visit the casino?? What's wrong with visiting the casino???????

Naps are nice. I too like to contribute to Celebrities bottom line in the casino.

Serious rest and relaxation....I downloaded 4 books 3 cruises ago and I keep having to reread the beginning of the first one as I never get past page 20....just lay back...enjoy...

Pretty sure Top Chef is poof! Guessing co-op agreement with Bravo has ended.

30 days on Constellation last month and no Top Chef Quick Fire, no Top Chef MDR menu (thank you Lord!)

In addition to the ideas already mentioned, Celebrity Alaska sailings have Celebrity naturalists on board. On sea days they generally do programs/lectures in the theater.

We had milos as our naturalist three years ago and he's great! We had him on Singapore to Sydney on solstice in late 2012, too!

Anyone know who the naturalist is this season?

Celebrity will have three ships deployed in Alaska for the upcoming cruise season. In the past each has had a naturalist on board for the Alaska cruises.

 

The past few years Brent Nixon has been on the Solstice. We left the Infinity last Tuesday after spending a month on board, and Milos Radavich boarded in San Diego on April 17th. We spoke to Milos (we first met him in 2008), but I forgot to confirm that he would be the Infinity naturalist for the upcoming season.

We love sea days. I'll do the gym but then pretty much just veg on the balcony reading and listening to music. In Alaska I bet the scenery must be amazing.

 

We'll even do room service for breakfast and lunch. Like I said, serious veg time. No trivia, pool, etc. Now if there is something extra special then ya, we'll go but otherwise just hang out. Best days every!

I spent a lot of time just walking around and hanging out on Deck 11. There is so much to see on both sides of the ship. The scenery and wildlife is beautiful. There are enough chairs to take a break if needed. :)

Also in the front of the ship on 10 there is trivia during the day that is fun.

But in Alaska - for me, scenery rules. Bring your own binoculars and have fun spotting marine life - we saw humpbacks and orcas and some type of dolphin, sea lions.... eagles. And the mountains were just beautiful.

Don't know if Top Chef at Sea competition is still being offered but the January version on the Silhouette was a hoot to watch!

We love getting a cappuccino or latte at Cafe el Bacio and taking my Sodoku book to a quite corner or to the balcony and watching the time pass.
