Breakfast on day of disembarking

Recommended Posts

what time does breakfast start and is it a full breakfast ?

The Main Dining Room and WIndjammer will have the normal full breakfast, with the possible exception of Eggs Benedict in the MDR. Breakfast usually starts end ends earlier on the last day, but I don't have the exact times.

The only difference from a normal day will be the unavailability of room service breakfast and an earlier start for the MDR and Windjammer, the food offering is unchanged. If heading for the Windjammer my advice would be to be waiting for the doors to open.

On many ships I have been on they only open half the windjammer while the other half is preparing for the next set of cruisers. I have found this triggers my PCD early, so we do the main dining room.

Breakfast on disembark day is one of the most under advertised perks of Suites restaurant on the O class ships (perhaps the Q class has an equivalent. I don't know). Our last cruise on Harmony (Star Class) our Genie met us in the CK at 10AM after a lovely, leisurely breakfast and escorted us off the ship. Obviously, if you are in a hurry to get off the ship this isn't a particularly useful perk, but if you have a later flight, like we usually do, it is nice to be able to stay on the ship until 10AM.

Seconded, unless you have to be somewhere in a hurry, you can have a relaxed breakfast and wait until the last departure time, despite what it says on your assigned luggage tags. Much less rushed that way.

Is immigration/customs usually busy at last departure time? I'd imagine that's the worst time to get off the ship.

Thank you for the info, 39august. Another couple of clarifications please: will the suite lounge have continental breakfast embarkation AM? Or maybe the lounge where suite guests meet to disembark?

These are things that can vary ship to ship and cruise to cruise. All you need to to is ask the Concierge and they will tell you the disembarkation options you will have.

I disembarked from Vision last month. Suites guests were invited to Giovanni's where there was a hot and cold breakfast buffet, no ordering off the menu like usual. Giovanni's opened early, 6 AM. At 7:15 AM the concierge (MJ, who did a fabulous job the entire cruise) escorted us off the ship.

Customs is pretty steady and if they have set up separate lines for Americans, things move along pretty quickly. What seems to be the biggest holdup is the elevators/stairs to get off the ship. Most cruises I have been on the worst time is right after they call a specific group. By the end of departure time most people are through and things are a little lighter. Plus it is easier to find your luggage in the terminal.

Much earlier than normal, as they want you OUT of your cabin by 8am...and off the ship soon after!

I don't think we've ever been out of our room by 8. Done with breakfast and back to the room to relax for a few minutes, gather our things and vacate the room.

Then I feel sorry for your poor room steward who needs to get that room turned around for the next occupants. After 8 am, consider the room no longer yours.

Does somebody have the exact time when WJ closes so I don't have to wake up early and rush to the WJ.

We disembarked Jewel of the Seas yesterday in Rome, and they closed WJ at 08:30. Worked out fine for us, out of the cabin at 08 and a nice breakfast after that.

From my limited experience being one of the last one off, no, it does seem to taper off in the last 30 minutes or so. But I've seen Custom's itself vary drastically in the same port. I still remember the Bin Laden Cruise - Allure April/May 2011, we heard Bin Laden was killed on Monday, the following Sunday Custom's was waiving people through with a cursory glance at their paperwork.

Like so many things, this is going to vary by ship. Listen to the CDs show the night before and check your compass.

In a hotel, a check out time is posted. On a Ship, none is posted. What is posted is your "number" and when to expect to leave the ship. So, one would assume that if your number is listed at 9:00AM, you would have access to your room until 9:00AM.

The room steward on turn around day has extra help. No need to feel bad for them, they are employed and they know exactly what turn around day is.

Personally, I'm out by 8:00 with my carry on bag, and generally speaking, I'm eating breakfast and off the ship around 9:00 - 9:15. But 8:00 is not posted, nor is it a requirement. Maybe a suggestion, but to make it a requirement, they would need to change the way of letting people off the ship.

One would assume incorrectly. You don't have to get off the ship, just out of your room, typically by 8 or 8:30

I really don't think 30 minutes one way or another is going to make a difference. We never see our room steward the morning of disembarking anyway, so I doubt they even know. Nothing to fret about. :D
