Deployment 2019-20 booking season begins

Recommended Posts

Royal Caribbean is putting Turkey back on 2019 cruise itineraries after suspending service for two years due to security concerns.

Do we think there's any chance they'll restore the stop for 2018? Initially Vision was suppose to stop there in September '18 but was swapped due to security concerns in October '17.

Possible, but don't think will happen this year. Think they'll leave change in place....

There was some announcement in early February that either Quantum or Anthem would sail fro Southampton sometime in 2020. However, haven't heard anything more.

That's the news I'd heard. Wonder when they will announce which ship it is going to be.

For those of you who've sailed on both - any preference?

Anthem at this point as the Quantum was refitted for the Asian market, therefore not sure what was done. I do know it's has a larger casino When I sailed the Quantum initially it was the spitting image of the Anthem except for the shows on Quantum which had Mamma Mia playing.

The Dubai sailings and prices are on the UK site but when you click through it says you have to call to book. Hopefully they will be available tomorrow.

Pity the Suez sailing is so late as we had fancied a b2b. Might do one of the Dubai cruises in 2020 instead

May I please ask what made you think it's perhaps a 'fuel stop" only, maybe no pax onboard. According to the port schedule she is there from 0800/1700hrs....bit long for a pit stop......we had one of those with P.O Arcadia - 4 hrs... we saw what we needed to see ..... ships tour.... took no chances :D

I believe Ovation of the Sea's Global Odyssey repo to Asia called there early May 2016 with a boat load of pax.....fingers crossed they do same with Spectrum.

They just have not designated passenger numbers or designated the ship at British or International as they do for all other RCI port bookings.

The ship will have sea trials with deck and engine crews after leaving Germany. A Gibraltar stop would allow them to disembark all European workers doing the final touches on the ship and take on the Asian crew that are trained at Royal's new training center in the Philippines. The ship could also take on fuel and provisions for the crew training period prior to the ship's arrival in early June to China.

They can probably cancel the TA and still make the cruises after the TA by working on the TA cruise if needed.

Is that Rhapsody you are thinking about?

I would see no reason they could not do a Cadiz dry dock and refresh on the fully refurbished ship in that amount of time.

The ship already received the major upgrades with all the additions back in 2012 in Singapore. This should be just a full refresh and maybe some added features.

I sailed on Serenade in 2012 and Vision in 2013, both after their Cadiz dry docks, and they were right at 3 weeks as well. The only issues were with entertainment related additions which postponed and delayed Centrum shows.

Yes, I was thinking of the fall 2019 TA on Rhapsody. Just concerned because there were no immediately preceeding cruises.

It seems the 19th to 9th would be perfect timing for a 3 week Cadiz dry dock. They have done most the major work on this ship and a full refresh in 2 to 3 weeks would be common.

They do have ports booked for a Venice to Barcelona sailing on the 19th with 2 week dry dock, but it seems they did not release that last sailing.

Sea trials must be done before the ship finally leaves Germany. The change of ownership and handover from the yard to the cruise line is always done in the freeport of Bremerhaven for tax reasons.

Just booked the Jewel Suez Canal. Dubai to Civitavecchia.

Monday 23rd April arriving on Wed 8th April

I was hoping to do that one Alex but it was nearly 500 quid more expensive than the Rome to Dubai in November for a solo...thats the drinks package! I am changing my Explorer TA to Jewel Suez Repo and saving a chunk of change for 2 nights extra!

I know it's cheaper but the dates are not good for me. I have to work all December as I have 2 weeks off at xmas and New Year.

I'm solo as well and I can change Rhapsody Ta to Vision and save £800. Have to get this year past first.

Ta's and Repo's aren't as cheap as they used to be

When does the first lot of Asia sailings go on sale? I thought it was this week?

They go on sale next week. I think I’m just a tad excited I’m hoping Spectrum of the Seas sailings are released.
