Jade Haven vs Suite

Hi All,

What is the difference between the Jade Suite and Haven. We have done the Breakaway and Epic in the haven and understand what the haven perks are, so what do you miss out on with only a suite? It looks like from the deck plans that it is only the private pool area. I don't see a private restaurant, grill, bars, or the posh club.

From what I read you still get breakfast / lunch in cagneys in a suite. You also get concierge & butler service. Is there a private sundeck area for guests in a suite?

Thanks

We stayed in SF 1064 on the Jade in 2016. The Haven on the Jade only had the sundeck which made our decision easy to just go with the aft suite. We saw the Haven guests at breakfast and lunch. All other suite amenities are the same.

There is no comparison to the Epic with Posh and other amenities in the Haven area which we sailed twice. The Europe cruise was very quiet in Posh in comparison to the Carribean sailing. My husband loves Posh and if we sailed on the Epic we would go with the Haven again. We have never sailed on the Breakaway.

If you want exclusivity and complete luxury on the Jade's product line. Then Haven is the way to go. If you simply want cost savings with similar amenities. Then the suite is the way to go.

Ultimately, it comes down to what experience you want. Having sailed Jade Haven, I can tell you that I enjoyed not having to stick to the public pool areas and could escape to a private area, even though limited in features to small pool and hot tub, and ok sun deck. And, if we wanted to use the public areas, well, that was no problem.

Again- what experience do you want and lets go from there. The desire for one product could be justified with a small increase in price.

We have done the 2BR in and out of the Haven on the Jewel class (same as Jade).

The cabin and perks are really the same. The only difference is access to the pool area/lounge and the sundeck up above. It is nice, but not a big deal for most folks. When I was waking up at 5am, I could either sit in the living room of the suite, or walk out to the haven area where there was usually coffee available and a quiet area to read.

We almost never hang at any of the pools, so that did not mean much to us. Some people will like, some will say no big deal. No right or wrong way.

So a suite has access to haven and just not connected? I thought suites did not.

If your suite is a category with an "H", then yes, you have access to the Haven (this is only on the mega ships), but if the category is a "S" (smaller ships), then no it does not.

1. Had breakfast served to us by the Haven butler several mornings in the Jewel's Haven, which was enjoyable.

2. The Haven's pool is a swim-against-the current endless pool, which, if you are alone in it, is a pleasant form of exercise.

We had the owners suite on the Jade which is not in the haven, but we did have access to the haven.

Owners suite are the exception... they are not in the Haven but you have acess to the haven in the jewel/jade class.

On the Jewel class ships, the only main differences between a suite and a Haven suite is that the Haven Suite has access to the Haven area and sundeck and also special seating in the main theater. (Although some have reported that the Concierge sometimes opens up the seats to all suite guests, but that hasn't been our experience.)

Also, when waiting to board one time the Concierge escorted all Haven guest onboard first, then regular suite guests. But then the next time they boarded everyone at the same time.

Otherwise all the other perks are the same.

I've recently sailed on the Jade in a 2 bedroom non Haven family suite and the 2 bedroom Haven suite post dry dock.

The obvious difference is the access to the Haven. You can purchase the spa passes and have essentially the same amenities with regard to sauna, steam room and hot tub. The courtyard area right outside your room is nice with the Haven but the spa right upstairs is nice too if non Haven and you purchased spa passes. I guess if you want the spa passes figure the cost of those and the room. If total price isn't much different then I'd go for the Haven.

The 2 bedroom suite rooms are essentially the exact same room as Haven 2 bedroom. The furnishings are very slightly different and a little nicer in the Haven but I probably wouldn't have noticed had I not gone from one directly to the other. Specifically the drapes are a little thicker, dining room chairs a little nicer and the artwork a little different in Haven room. Thats about it and treatment of passengers as in concierge access... great butler, great service was excellent in both rooms.

It basically comes down to if you choose to spend the extra on the actual Haven area which is separated from the rest of the ship and has suite breakfast just down a few stairs in moderno and cagneys instead of walking from non Haven suite to this area on deck 13 for breakfast and lunch. The ship isn't that big so walk isn't going to be far.

The Haven owners suites aren't located in the Haven but have Haven access. Honestly I'd purchase a spa pass if in an owner suite because the spa is a lot closer to them than the Haven area.

There's two other non Haven categories that don't include Haven access. Se and sf. Those also include all access to suite amenities i.e. Butler, concierge, dining but no Haven courtyard access. Those rooms don't have an equivalent Haven room, unless counting the spare bedrooms in garden villas. They are basically the same size of the spare GV bedrooms.

If you watch the price Haven may eventually come down to non haven suite price. I rebooked for an overall cost of 14 dollars SE to H4. Cancelled my advantage upgrade bid because of it. Sail in about 2 weeks.

Your assessment is 100% correct.

Jades haven is perhaps basic in comparison. My wife and I doing the epic western med in sept18 and look forward to that haven! I’ve heard bad reviews on regular cabin layouts.

Please clarify your comments. We have been in haven and non haven 2BR on various Jewel class ships. The rooms are IDENTICAL. Color and coverings might be different, but we never noticed.

???"bad reviews on regular cabin layouts????

Thanks for your reply. The haven was more than double the cost of a suite, I just don't see the benefit for that little pool area. Thought maybe I was missing something.

Thanks Again

Tamara

The suite is great for the money as the Haven is very small so you're not missing that much. Book the suite and bid on a Haven room. Either way you will be happy!

He/she is talking about the Epic.

Many bad reviews on regular cabin layout.

Though I would agree with most folks comparing Haven 2BR to regular 2BR and being way too much extra for the addition of the haven area.

On our recent Jade cruise, the Haven 2BR were sold out way in advance when there were still maybe 8 non haven 2BR left. He had one and the minimum bid price was $600x2. Did not even bother with that as it was not worth even $1,200 just to have access to Haven (if it even came available). We got everything else.

Main point - more people paid extra for Haven than regular suite. Surprised me.

Late to this thread but will add some insight for future readers. We've done both aft facing Penthouse suite and Haven courtyard suite on Jade.

The differences are well described with one omission (which you may or may not care about):

The Haven suites have access to the private sundeck which has a series of cabanas. These cabanas have a large double 'bed' lounger that (and here's the important bit) are COVERED with a fabric shade. It lets some light through but offers basically the ONLY place on any of these ships where you can lie on a lounger with an open, unobstructed and peaceful view of the ocean and NOT get fried by the sun. I've had a couple of brushes with skin cancer and somewhere to get out of direct sunlight but still enjoy being outside is a big plus for me/anyone with fair skin. On an 11 day cruise, that cabana access is worth some green IMHO.

Then (as has been stated)... the Haven on the Jewels is small but idyllic... (generally) somewhere to escape, close the door and go "ahhhhh" after the zoo of the ship sun/pool decks; it feels like a high end hotel. This is especially true on sea days.

The cabins are a 'little' nicer, separate shower (to tub) is nice, and the window is fun.

Oh... and when you come back from a shore excursion, tired, hot, sticky and slightly past your 'use-by-date', there will be a nice crew member with a little 'Haven' flag, saying follow me... past the tender line. Very nice.

It's nothing like the mega ships, everyone is 100% correct there... but we like the balance of the jewels more as it happens, and the Haven makes it a true 'private yacht' experience IMHO.

If you're cost conscious and want to maximize VALUE - non-Haven suite absolutely represents the 'sweet/suite spot'. If you don't mind dropping some extra cash to have every thing 'just right'. Haven does that for you. We work some extra hours... to make that happen every year or two.

What is the difference between suite category SE and SF other than one is aft and the other is forward. Are they both the same cabin size. Just wondering as there is a price difference between the 2.
