Floorplans for new Sky Princess

I booked one of the Aft cabins for the Spain/TA cruise in 11/19 but my wife said Mini or bust! So re-booked one of the Angled Balcony Minis for just a few hundred more. Whatever makes her happy as long as I get to go on my first TA, :D

Once you do a T/A, you'll be hooked. The Sky's T/A will be our 7th (5x Western Med & 2x Iceland/Norway). The Sky's T/A is a work in progress getting my DW to fully commit to sailing.....:D:D:D

Princess inventory control has made cabins we wanted to book unavailable on the 7 day cruise (11/3/19) but were available on the 21 day or the 28 day. In a conference call with my TA & Princess agent, their agent apologized for this situation which was out of her control. So much for their new Elite level perk they're touting because inventory control prevents booking certain blocks of cabins. :(

Now that I'm booked, I can view deck plans and here are some of the public area changes I've noticed from the Royal/Regal.

  • Deck 6: Art Gallery area is now an expanded Shops of Princess area
  • Deck 6: Casino staircase to deck 7 removed
  • Deck 6: CC & Future Cruise spaces replace Alfredo's
  • Deck 7: Crooners replaced by the French Bistro (La Mer) like on the Majestic
  • Deck 7: Alfredo's Pizzeria moved from deck 6 replacing shops/CC/Future Cruise areas
  • Deck 7: Wheelhouse Bar renamed Crown Grill Bar
  • Deck 7: Fine Arts Gallery moved from deck 6 adjacent to a smaller Photo & Video Gallery on deck 7
  • Deck 16: Horizon Court/Bistro renamed World Fresh Market Place
  • Deck 16: Not labeled yet but based on Princess website, Prego Pizzeria & Trident Grill replaced by Slice & Salty Dog Grill
  • Deck 16: shows 2 larger pools instead of the Fountain Pool & smaller Plunge Pool

I'm aware that first versions of other new ships had errors in deck plans, however this is based on what's currently displayed. I haven't compared cabins but they appear to be similar to the Majestic with some Emerald deck aft larger minisuite cabins.

Skimming through the deck plans, I didn't see any OS type of cabins despite if being displayed on their fare chart & cabin descriptions for the Sky. On the fare chart they are less than $100 less than a balcony cabin so don't know which to believe...deck plans or their website description & fare chart.

Hi Astroflyer!

We had same problem with cabin for the 7 day preceding the TA. We were sailing onboard the Regal when Sky cruises opened up, so I grabbed the "guaranty" and then went to the future cruise guy to have him contact shoreside for me. It took a few days for it to happen, but I did eventually get the cabin for both cruises.

Really bummed that there doesn't seem to be a place for piano player/singers to perform. The Crooners performers are some of my faves.

Hi TTM&B,

Emailed Customer Relations on the Elite booking day about our problem. They immediately called my TA with a proposed solution & then called me. CR got us our preferred cabin & made it cost effective to book as 28 days instead of 7/21 day cruises so we’re happy! :D

I noticed something about my cabin on the Sky Princess (E728). It is classified as an OS Suite (S2) while all the other aft suites are S-3 PH's. When I look at the Royal/Regal deck plans I see the same cabin is classified as an S-3 PH. I checked the Majestic's deck plans and see the cabin is also listed as an S-2. Did they actually alter the design somewhat, starting with the Majestic and make the two Emerald Aft suites larger or am I just seeing things? I remember in the past how unreliable (at times) renditions of new ship deck plans can be.

Bob, There was a change with the Majestic. Minisuites were added forward and aft of the lifeboats on Emerald deck on the Majestic and the Sky and the aft suites on Emerald deck were enlarged. E728 on the Royal is listed as 665 sq.ft. while E728 on the Sky is listed as 879 sq.ft. I believe that area includes both the cabin and the balcony but you should have at least 100 sq. ft. of additional space and, hopefully, a dining table in your suite [emoji4] All of the aft suites on the other decks of the Majestic and Sky as well as all aft suites on the Royal and Regal have been downgraded to Category S3 which is what the should have been from the start because they are not truly Owner’s Suites. Will be looking forward to photos of your suite.

Just noticed there are Window Suites like on a couple of other Princess ships which are already sold out on the 21 day cruise I checked.

Window Suite

Premium accommodations and luxurious appointments are the signature of our Window Suite, along with special Suite-only benefits. This Suite features a large picture window instead of a balcony and includes a separate sitting area with a sofa bed, walk-in closet and bathroom with bathtub, separate shower and deluxe amenities.

Thank you for the info. You know you could always book the cruise and see it in person. Say the word and I'll add you to the spreadsheet.....:D:D:D

I booked the 21 day med/TA on the sky on 11/10/19 solo in balcony mid ship Emerald. Thinking about going back and grabbing the extra 7 days leaving on 11/3 as my same cabin is still available. I have done one TA b4 in April of this year but vowed I would not endure the plane trip at end of cruise again. So here I am doing the reverse. I love the TA.

Getting ready to do RT LA/Hawaii in Couple months on the Star.

We have the 28 day LA to Sydney cruise booked in the fall of 2018 and the Royal in the spring of 2019 but that is as far as we have planned ahead for now.

  • 1 month later...
Interesting post showing some of the differences on the upper decks of the Sky, Majestic, and Royal/Regal.

Looks like the Seawalk is gone on the sky and the aft pool has moved?

And the Sanctuary has been replaced by cabins. Also cabins added around the adults only pool.

Still no roll call for this ship? I see two of my favorite people will be on board... I just booked an interior cabin for the Rome - Ft. Lauderdale. In all likelihood, I will be sailing solo. First TA, new ship, good friends. What more could I ask for?

A link to the Sky’s roll call for the 28 day itinerary which includes the shorter segments (7, 14, 21 days) from 11/3 to 12/1/19 which is the cruise we’re sailing & is the most active roll call.

I checked the deck plans but didn't see any. Maybe I missed it? I then went to book a cruise and checked out all the announced cruises for Sky Princess. All list it as an option but all say sold out.

Anyone know where on the ship they are located?

Check Deck 17, Sun Deck. There appear to be only two Window Suites, but they might be really in a great place.

Thanks! I checked and there they are. Only two. They look huge! Great location for people who don't mind being high up and near a pool.

It’s not your Kindle but it’s Cruise Critic who has not added the Sky’s roll calls to their search function. I previously read a post with the link for all of the Sky’s roll calls & bookmarked it for future reference.

People have reported this problem to CC months ago however they still haven’t added the Sky’s roll calls. That results in redundant roll calls which does not help anyone. :(

I have a feeling Sky Princess is scheduled to go to the West Coast for Alaska to compete with the Norwegian Bliss. I’m convinced the retreat pool is going to be covered (the Royal’s uncovered pools won’t be ideal in Alaska) and that there is some sort of Skywalkers type venue. I cannot believe Princess has added all the extra cabins around the retreat pool and not increased the additional public space.

What do others think?

My guess is that after their previous experiences with that pool area they’re designing it more like the Lotus Spa Pool on other ships & to be more sheltered.

On the Royal/Regal Retreat Pool wind is a problem; on the Majestic’s covered Hollywood pool noise has been reported as an issue. With the Sky’s Retreat Pool sheltered from the wind & no mention of a covered pool like they promoted from the beginning on the Majestic, I don’t think the Sky’s Retreat Pool will be covered.

Based on the current deck plans, there is nothing like Skywalkers except for Club 6 which in my opinion is a poor replacement for Skywalkers.

It took 6 years for the Royal Princess to be the first Royal-class ship deployed to the West Coast & Alaska so I’d be surprised if the Sky would quickly be deployed to that region.

We have 20 months to speculate before the inaugural cruise & have seen some changes to initial deck plans before a new ship sails.
