Ocean Boy Posted January 6, 2018 #130 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Is the so-called Semi Annual WOW Sale really a Sale? I repriced all my 2018 and 2019 cruises yesterday (taking into consideration added OBC and lost OBC), and none of them resulted in a lower net price. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Same here, 4 different cruises. See, it is a true RCI WOW sale.;):D
Ken at the beach Posted January 6, 2018 #131 Share Posted January 6, 2018 $398 is an odd D discount. C$=US$= D discount About a year, maybe two, ago Royal started giving Canadians a higher balcony discount taking into account the exchange rate. They don't change the rate very often so it can vary from current rates. Sent from my STH100-1 using Forums mobile app
notmyrealnameoremail Posted January 6, 2018 #132 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Thanks to this thread, I did mock bookings on Jan 4 for our two cruises that haven't reached their final payment due date. No luck with the first, but since we had repriced that one on Jan 2 (for a $240 savings), I wan't surprised. The second one was very interesting. The first time through I got the same price as we already had, but with an extra $100 of OBC for a total of $200 OBC. Not bad, I'll take $100 for free. I noticed that the promotion mentioned "UP TO $350 TO SPEND AT SEA". So I played around a bit and did a mock booking without my Crown and Anchor number (we are only Platinum) and got a price $100 more than we already had, but with an an extra $250 of OBC for a total of $350 OBC. In other words, $150 for free. Since we will burn through that much OBC before we set foot onboard, it looked like we were going to do better by not claiming our C&A discount. I sent an email to our Travel Agent explaining what I found before I went to bed. I woke up to an email from him with a new invoice with the higher price, the higher OBC and no C&A discount. Another $150 win courtesy of cruisecritic forums. I should note that I had an extra $100 of OBC from myVEGAS and that carried over to the repriced invoice, so as of now we have a total of $450 of OBC. My wife is now playing myVEGAS, and I'm hoping we will be up $550 next week.

Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Forums mobile app From reading post 116 and later posts in this thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2509658&highlight=myvegas&page=6 it looks like the Terms and Conditions changed and at least 2 people in a cabin can claim a myVEGAS $100 OBC reward (for now at least, it looks like the $250 ones are not being offered and I don't see any reports of more than two people in a cabin being able to claim).:D
cpshaye Posted January 6, 2018 #135 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I did a mock booking on Friday morning and although the price was the same, they were offering $75 more OBC. Yay! Called and made that happen. I looked again later, and saw ANOTHER $75 OBC showing, so called and snagged that. Interestingly, today it's back down to the first offer. Timing is everything. Gained $150 yesterday. Had I waited for today (or not been obsessive and looked again), it would only be $75 (which is great in itself, but love x2.) Cruisy McGee Posted January 6, 2018 #136 Share Posted January 6, 2018 This sale definitely made me say WOW! Wow, am I glad I booked when I did at the prices I did! I have 3 cabins on Freedom in April, the current promo would cost me over $1900 across the 3 cabins to gain $550 more in OBC.
luvintravel Posted January 6, 2018 #137 Share Posted January 6, 2018 10 degrees in Pittsburgh.....burrrrrrr!!!! We said HOS 4/21. I was told that I can call to inquire on sales up till I make final payments. Has anyone ever called and surprisingly was told that the sale price was better and RC adjusted their price? Happy sailing. Yup, yesterday. Wasn't told sale price was better, was told, "let's see what I can do to save you some money." Saved $344. I've done it in the past also. In November, we had made final payment, but they upgraded us to a junior suite from a balcony.
dpostman Posted January 6, 2018 #138 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Well, no price reduction on 12 day Baltic cruise in August 2019 but did get $100 OBC. Last week, $100 OBC was only available on NRD bookings but after reading this thread, I did a mock booking to see if there was a price difference, and noticed the $100 OBC was now available on Refundable Deposit bookings, NRD receive $150. So I called it in and it took a while but finally made it through. Thanks for the heads up. dp

Non-refundable OBC can be used for things that would normally cost out of pocket cash, like gratuities, drinks, etc.

Non-Refundable OBC can also be withdrawn in cash at the casino. 5% fee if you don't have a cash account. No fee if you do have a cash account. dp

dpostman Posted January 8, 2018 #150 Share Posted January 8, 2018 I had no idea you could do that. I learned that earlier this year thanks to the folks here on CC. I had an Anthem Cruise and had booked 2 Balcony rooms during a Cyber Monday promotion that gave us $800 OBC ($400 OBC per room). So I setup as cash account when doing the online booking. On last day, I withdrew remaining OBC (about $450) at Casino Cashier, then walked over to Customer Service desk to give them a credit card to put on my account to cover for any small things from last day. I think there is a limit of $500 per day but I'm not sure. dp
