FloridaGator Posted March 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Anyone else having a hard time receiving their win/loss statement from the casino department. Completed the request form some time ago and asked when it would be forwarded - they e-mailed back that they would be completed by April 15th. I replied that this is unrealistic with taxes due almost immediately afterward. They answered with the same "canned" statement. Hate to bump this to a higher administrative level, but see no alternative.
cb at sea Posted March 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Lordy! If you won or loss enough to claim, they should have that out WAY before taxes are due!
BND Posted March 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Lordy! If you won or loss enough to claim, they should have that out WAY before taxes are due! If you win over a certain amount, they make you sign a tax form/statement. I'm guessing OP wants to claim losses.;)

It arrived a few days later.

Clarea Posted March 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2018 Why is there a tax form if you're gambling in foreign waters? Maybe RC is intimidated by the IRS?
MaritimeR&R Posted March 12, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 12, 2018 It started some time ago. If you hit $1200.00 and up on a slot machine your given a form W2G to file with your taxes as income. Its been about 2 1/2 years now and it is my understanding that the concession to 1099G handpays of $1200. 00 or more arose from an agreement RCI made with the US Government in order to be able to move more money through Federal Reserve Banks and onto their ships. The additional larger builds made this necessary. Insofar as getting a win/loss statement from them, I have gotten a run around. Two written requests, the earliest being in December and 4 phone calls during which I got multiple and differing answers as to where my statement was leaves me to date without one. I will be calling again today.:(

Retired LEO Posted March 12, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 12, 2018 I waited 6 weeks to get my win/loss statement only to find out I couldn't use it since I don't itemize. The winnings I could claim, the losses I couldn't.
leisuretraveler223 Posted March 12, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 12, 2018 Why is there a tax form if you're gambling in foreign waters? Technically, you are still supposed to be taxed according to federal law, even if it's out of the country. Unless you can prove those taxes were paid to another government. It's the same as state income tax. If you work in a state without it, but live in a state with it, you have to pay the state income tax to your home state. If you pay it at a LOWER rate to the state you work in, you owe the difference in your home state. Additionally, I live near the New Hampshire border, where there is no sales tax. People love to go up there for "tax free" shopping. Technically, they're still supposed to pay the sales tax to MA (although few actually do so). Sent from my iPad using Forums You were under obligation under Federal Law to claim that money as Earned Income whether you received a W2G, a 1099G, or neither. Just as if you win a $20 scratch. It’s earned income. Whether you claim or not is up to the individual.

My suggestion would be to file, claim your loss( the amount you won if you are positive you lost more) I was advised to have them withhold 10% as they are required by law to do if you request it next time you win. Gmchip33 Posted March 21, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 21, 2018 I called twice and submitted the form twice the first time was1/13/18. They told me they received the request and will process in the order received . I guess they did t get to Jan. 13th yet I am very annoyed- had multiple hand pays and put a lot of money back in and would like to have for my taxes. I will not be booking another cruise with them if they don’t send it to me .

Gmchip33 Posted March 21, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 21, 2018 I understand that I’ve been claiming gambling wins for years, however I am able to offset my winnings with gambling losses thereby reducing my taxable income. And believe me, they have this information it is tracked to your player/room card. I find it ridiculous that you can give them your social sec number passport number and every identifying information about yourself to book a cruise but they can’t provide a simple document in timely fashion that other cruise lines including NCL and Carnival and every other casino i played at can.
