I was thinking of retiring to Florida at some point. One big reason is the opportunity to cruise with out flying in the day before. I was curious about people's experience with pack n go.

The cheapest cruise we ever got was a 3 dayer for $129 about 4-5 years ago now though. Of course for us we are in Michigan and had to pay for airfare too, but we got that for a great rate Booked and sailed wihin a month.

I believe NCL offers some Sail Away offers, which are last minute cruise deals. I’ve never taken advantage of them because the cost of flying somewhere to catch a cruise is what keeps us from sailing more than once per year. Back in 2004, we were offered a Past Cruisers cruise from NYC to Nova Scotia on the Carnival Victory for only about $400 total for a 4 or 5 day cruise (can’t remember exactly how many days) Since we live in NYS, we drove, and saved the air fare.

November 2014--- $350 for a balcony on a 7 day Eastern Car. on the Splendor After the shareholder discount it was $250 each ( booked in separate rooms ) Not too bad for a balcony on a 7 day !
Care to share info on shareholder discount? I'm shareholder and have never seen any discount offered, only $100 OBC. Thanks

Link to information from the cruise line:

http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/irol/14/140690/shareben.pdf

But it says:

Carnival Corporation

  • Carnival Cruise Lines
  • Princess Cruises
  • Holland America
  • Costa
  • Windstar
  • Seabourn
  • Cunard Line

The onboard credit is available exclusively to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival Plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary pass are excluded from this offer.

This benefit is not transferable, no combinable with any other shipboard offer and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom.

Shareholders must provide the following information with the initial deposit to your travel agent:

  • Name
  • Proof of ownership of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc shares (i.e. photocopy of shareholder proxy card, shares certificate or a current brokerage or nominee statement).
  • Reservation number
  • Ship and sailing date

Thanks Expat, as I mentioned I'm aware of the OBC for shareholders, have used that perk many times. But I don't consider OBC a discount on price of cruise which is what the poster mentioned.

My hero. I am a devoted New Englander but oh boy, do I dream about living in Florida for that very reason.
