Exclusive: Royal Caribbean to Introduce All-Suite Complex on Next Cruise Ship

Recommended Posts

The nearest RC port to us is Southampton England 350 miles away.

We have to fly to get to all RC departure ports.

That's driveable. Heck Miami is over 200 from us and Atlanta was 500 from PC.

I once drove Atlanta to Ft Lauderdale. Brutal

I drove 1000 miles a week for years with work in sales.

I drive 150 miles to Manchester airport or 90 miles to Leeds Bradford but Southampton is a1 hour flight from Newcastle airport which is 25 miles away and we can stop in Southampton overnight so refreshed in the morning.

Stopped sailing on Norwegian as they kept expanding their suite-only areas, particularly on their larger ships. Result was the increased crowding for the "regular-folks" areas. Looks like Royal is headed in the same direction. All of the extra and separate space that is exclusive to a select, certain number of guests will leave less room for us. Maybe will go back to Carnival-thus far no extra space/decks/pools taken away from the general population and given to the suite guests. This is why we have tried to avoid the All-Inclusive resorts with different bracelets/"tiers".

Soon they will have their own life boats too. No mingling with the common foke.

Can you say Titanic:D

We were on Harmony and can actually say we did not step into the "Diamond Lounge" once and did not miss it. If you like the pampering, so be it. I find the more you get the more you spend. I prefer to find a nice spot anywhere and just veg. You don't necessarily need a special elevator up to where the pampered elite hang out. They actually make me uncomfortable.

Absolutely. We've driven multiple times from HSV to FLL. We usually stop in Ocala on the way down but do the drive non-stop on the way back. Usually off the boat by 0800 and don't get into HSV until 2200. From now on we're flying.

We did Madison to Tampa once. Stopped Ocala going down, and straight home returning

Generally I agree that a separate elevator isn't necessary, but on Oasis class ships getting up to Deck 17 from, say, Deck 5 can be tedious with stops at almost every deck including high traffic to and from the Windjammer on Deck 16. I know this is a first world problem. The Genies can bypass the system and send the elevator express. They are testing an intelligent elevator system that, if implemented, might help and not necessitate private elevators. When they were testing the intelligent elevators on Harmony last December I saw some improvement, but it was hard to tell because it was only being tested for a small number of decks and a small number of elevators.

We were on Harmony March 2017 and maybe something was going on with the elevators then....Several times we entered (different ones) hit the button and nothing happened...finally after a few seconds the doors would open and we hadn't gone anywhere (no one around)...also hit the button and doors wouldn't close..it just sat there...many people said they were experiencing the same situations....very creepy

Let's see, some suite guests are paying 5 times as much each cruise as someone in an inside cabin, but only getting double points. So an all cruises suites D+ has paid about 2.5 times as much as a all inside cabin D+. Who should Royal pander to?

If you haven't noticed, the airlines have changed their programs, that they combine both miles and DOLLARS SPENT for elite status.

Typical...Just more for the suites and continuing to forget about the loyal D+ cruiser's who helped to make the cruiseline what it is today.

What an entitled thing to say. Its unreal how folks feel they are owed something. Completely narcissistic.

YIKES....."Unreal" how some folks just don't get those of us that have remained loyal to RCI for many years. No need to respond and please don't...change lanes and move on. Peace Out

Agreed. I still say points should be rewarded by $ spent on all aspects of a cruise with Royal.

Rewarded "points" on "all" aspects of a cruise

Then I'll be rewarded for JR's, Ben & Jerry's, specialty restaurants, excursions, internet, drinks & packages, gift shop purchases, Casino, Bingo and the extra gratuities I give etc. etc. "All" aspects is a pretty broad statement...;)How's that gonna work

Yes. All of those and don’t forget Royal Excursions and Park West. Not sure how to track gratuities but Royal knows what you spend onboard.

Yes, I included "excursions" but intentionally left out Park West...no matter how much I would want those extra points...spending money on that...never gonna happen

Missed the excursions.... but you can rack up some really big points with Park West.

Many other businesses are rewarding loyalty with $ spent. Why shouldn’t it be based on the amount one spends onboard?
