Bringing money for casino?

I want to bring cash for the casino, but I don't want to carry it around with me or keep it in the room safe. What are my options? If I add cash to my Sal and Sign card, how do I ensure it ONLY gets used at the casino and not for other purchases?

Your expectations are too high.

What would you do with your cash if you went to Vegas for a week? What options does Vegas casino/hotel offer that a cruise ship doesn't?

If you're a big gambler, then you can apply for a line of credit.

Otherwise it's cash that you take with you and secure it in your safe.

Just bring the money and put it in the safe....it's fine. Almost every way to "access" money that isn't in cash will incur a fee...and it's ridiculous to pay to get your own money...you will have already "lost" before you start gambling!

what is wrong with the room safe? We keep passports, wallets, cash, casino chips and jewelry. They call it a safe for a reason.

Yeah, about that...

Please!!!

Nobody wants your $200.

Live in fear much

Did you watch the video about how easy it is to break into your house while your gone on vacation? especially after you came onto cruise critic and told the world the days you'll be gone.

How?

Put your Sail and Sign in a slot machine and add cash to the machine. Push the button. Cash out out by hitting cash out. Your money will reload to your card and it can only be used in the casino. Ship charges do not out out of your casino bank.

That's a funny way of saying, "Sorry, I guess I was wrong about the security of the safes. Thank you for teaching me about something that I didn't know."

Go to a slot machine, set up your PIN and either put the cash in, or charge your S&S account.

Thank you. This is a great idea!

You can give it to me, I will hold it for you.

Can I get a 1.00% APY?

Something they didn't know? You must think people are pretty dumb if you think they don't already know there's a backdoor into all the safes. Even the card-driven ones. There has to be, because I assure you people leave them locked on every single cruise at debarkation.

Of course there is but the Room Stewards don’t have the codes or the “Master Card” if you will to open them. I’ve had to have them open my safe 3 times. Once when the previous occupants left it locked, once when my old VS Gift Card magnetic strip quit working, and once when the battery in the safe died. Each time the head of housekeeping came I had to be present, sign a paper (some type of log) and remain at my safe while they fixed the issue.

Hi

I watched the video and understand that it is speaking to a quirk about a specific brand of safe. Are you interpreting this to say that no safe/lock is foolproof?

While I agree with that, I would say after many years of travel, I have never had any hotel or cruise safe broken robbed. In any case that would be a police matter and submitted as an insurance claim, also as others have mentioned, I keep things I consider more valuable than cash in the safe.

Anyways, what I am getting at is, I am trying to understand what your main concern is. Is it that you are concerned of the security of the safe itself? You ask how to ensure that money put on your S & S card is only used for the casino (not for other purchases). Does that mean others on your account might want to spend money in the shops as opposed to gambling with it? If that is the case you can limit who has access to your account.

I think if you tell us exactly what your concern is then someone could address your specific issue. Otherwise generally, I would say, don't bring cash and pay the premium to withdraw money from the ATM's. Of course, if you win instead of losing, I don't know what you are going to do with all those chips. :)

have a great cruise

Or they are implying that the Room Stewards are dishonest and going to steal your stuff which simply isn’t the case. They would be foolish to risk their jobs even if they did have access (which they don’t). Whenever they are cleaning the cabins, the doors are propped open and anyone standing there in plain view messing with the safe could be easily busted by people walking by.

:') Not EVEN close

I'm one of the few on here who will admit when they're wrong and issue a mea culpa. On this issue? Not even close.

If you're that scared someone might steal your money, how are you getting it to the ship? How about from the bank ATM to home?

Okay, you don't want to use the safe,,, I get it.

Option 1. Use the ATM in the casino and make your daily withdrawls. First go to your bank and request them to increase the daily limit you are allowed.

Option 2. Apply for Line Of credit. That way you need no money at all.

They aren't. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hotel+safe

You've never seen it so it doesn't exist. Gotcha.

Yeah. That would NEVER happen.
