Hub apps and chat feature

Hey, I was wondering if any recent cruisers on the Carnival Triumph had used the chat feature in the Hub App? We have a small group going next month and would like to be able to get in touch with each other when roaming about on the ship. We had tried to use the chat feature on the Dream last May, but we seemed to have lots of trouble with the chat staying connected.

on the Valor in April, every time you tried to use chat, it would log you at of the Hub App... pain in the b_tt... Wasted my $5

Had connection problems on the Pride, but did not on the Vista. Assuming the newer ships, or one's recently in dry dock have the upgraded wifi with better coverage.

Several of us in our group on the Magic on the July 14, 2018 sailing tried to use the Hub app and none were able to get messages to go through consistently. Total waste of $5.00.

Tried to use it a couple weeks ago on the Legend. It was spotty at best.

 

We had better luck buying the social media package for $4/day. Then we could at least use iMessage which was much more consistent than the Hub.

I too had trouble last year with the app. Only good thing about it is that you will only lose $5.00.

We had pretty good results with the Hub app on Conquest this past Spring. There were one or two times that messages were simply never delivered but otherwise it worked reasonably well for us. As to Triumph, if they are on an older intranet infrastructure on that ship (which I suspect they are), the performance of the app may be disappointing, as others have mentioned on other ships.

Just got off the Horizon and I would say it worked about 5 days out of 8. Make sure you have a backup plan if you want to rely on the app to communicate with your party.

Worked fine on Splendor in 16 & Paradise in 17. I hope it works well on the Horizon.

I have a LARGE ( over 300) facebook group going on the Horizon. Do you have to imput each of the groups names of just know if they have the Hub app and text them and can you do a group message? I might  get the social internet package and use messenger if that's available on the ship

we used it for a 16 and 14 year old teens, two grandparents and DH and I. it was great. I highly suggest using the app and chat feature. 

 

put phone in airplane mode too.

It's kind of like contacts on your email, you have to enter each name and number separately.
